Good quality - yellow lab chewed through cover in the first 3 hours (small hole). Called and got a second cover today. Dog has not not attempted to chew first cover since first day. I would buy again.

First bed delivered was the wrong color, called customer service, had the right one in days.No problem. Bought the extra large ortho bed for my Toby, this bed is just as comfortable as my bed.Looks like the next time I'm in the "Dog House" I'll have a good night sleep.
  • It Doesn't Get Any Better Review by Scott S. (Posted on 3/14/2017)
    Overall Quality
I was very pleased with my entire order. K9 Ballistics has a very selection of top quality dog beds in all sizes. I personally chose the Bolstered style bed because my dog likes to curl up against something as well as use the raised sides/back for a pillow. The pattern I chose was decorative, yet neutral enough to match almost any room. Within a week, the bed arrived which included the custom embroidery. I'm not sure how indestructible it is but I can obviously see it's much more durable than the typical beds you find at your local pet stores. I would highly recommend K9 Ballistics, and particularly the Orthopedic Bolstered Tuff Bed!
  • A fantastic bed Review by Shadow (Posted on 3/2/2017)

The bed is comfortable and the bolster is great to support the back and head. Really helps for arthritic joints. If she's nice I may even let my dog use it, too.

  • High Quality + Fair Price = Don't Hesitate Review by Christopher (Posted on 2/4/2017)
    Overall Quality
Dog trainer recommended this brand. Impressed by the selection online, design, demonstration videos, and made in the USA. Mentally prepared to do a training/transition plan to get dog to use it. Instead he jumped on it and settled down when first presented. Only been a week, but recommend it. Large size, tough fabric, covered zippers, tough zippers, quality mattress, well-thought zipper design (actually unzips wide enough), shipping included, discount coupon posted right on website ... fairly priced for the high quality.

  • Best pet bed on the market Review by Sue (Posted on 1/28/2017)
    Overall Quality
Ordered our second extra large orthopedic poster to tuft bed recently so we can keep one indoors and one on our screened in porch. We have two enormous dogs (220 pound english mastiff and 130 pound Leonberger) who both have hygromas (swelling) on their elbows due to pressure caused by laying on hard floors and these beds have been lifesavers. Our first bed has held up beautifully for over two years even with regular use by 350 total pounds of dog and the covers wash well in the washer (only issue is the interior lining tends to to flake off over time when machine washed). But these beds are worth every penny. Sturdy, long-lasting, and very well-designed.
  • GREAT BED Review by Steve (Posted on 1/27/2017)

LOVE IT. We have a 6 month golden doodle that eat the first bed we brought in three days. So we decided to buy him a TUFF BED. He has tried to scratch and bite the bed, but the bed is winning.
We bought the XLarge bed. My 6yr old likes to lay next to the dog in the dogs bed.
  • It was worth every penny if it holds up. Review by monci (Posted on 1/27/2017)

My Australian Cattle Dog (Chelsey) luv's the bed. However, she is testing the quality frequently. So far so good. It's amazing the strength the dog has when she is ready for play time. She throws that bed around like a Frisbee. I'm hoping she will become frustrated and not think of it as another chew toy. I will keep you posted.

  • Chewed Bed Review by Tim (Posted on 1/23/2017)

Although it was a nice bed my 1 year Lab old chewed through the bolster and zipper within minutes. The beds are kind of pricey, and not at all chew proof.
  • Very Good Quality beds! Review by Lisa (Posted on 1/21/2017)
    Overall Quality
We ordered 2 bolster beds, large and X large for our 4 year old, 120 pound German shepherd and 2 year old, 108 pound German shepherd mix. They arrived fast and are very good quality. They are plenty big enough. Very strong material and good quality mattress. Our 2 year old rescue German shepherd mix, Major, bites and destroys every bed so far. He has tried to bite the K9 bed but so far has not chewed thru material. They love their beds.
  • Very nice bed, I imagine it should last a good long time. Review by John (Posted on 1/14/2017)
    Overall Quality
We have had the bed for almost two weeks now. Our 120 lb. pup is really getting a feel for it, it is much firmer than his old bed. He is using the bolster as a pillow and loves it.
The quality of the bed is great, putting it together was no problem and the mattress expanded to full size within a couple of days. I do suggest leaving the mattress cover and the nylon shell unzipped and opened up for air circulation to help the expansion process. So far very pleased with the bed and with the speed in which we received it (we had embroidery done).

My bolster bed with the ripstop material is everything you and others say it is. Thanks for a quality product. This bed will easily last through my dogs lifetime and more!
  • Worth the price in the long run! Review by Charles (Posted on 12/26/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have three Greyhounds two of which are diggers. They love bolstered beds where they can rest and hang their head and necks over the bolster. We decided to give K9 Ballistics a try as the currently available bolstered beds by other manufacturers have lowered their quality as far as resistance to digging. Although the K9 Ballistic bed is more costly there is no doubt after having one that it will endure our diggers and last far longer than the life of two or three of the other brands.
In fact, we just ordered a second Orthopedic Bolstered TUFF Bed because of the quality and its expected longevity. The memory foam bottom is excellent.

This is our 2nd K9Ballistic bed and we love it so far. Our boxer enjoys curling up against the bolster and it's big enough for another dog to join her. It's a little tough to assemble but not bad for how sturdy it is. I would definitely recommend.

I love this couch bed! We have a great dane who loves to dig at her beds. She destroyed a regular couch bed in no time so we decided to buy a K9 ballistics bed for the durability. She has 2 other beds from K9 and they are so durable, supportive and she loves them. I know that this is an expensive item, but it will last the lifetime of our pup. Our girl loves her new bed, it is an XL and she has plenty of room to stretch out and relax.
  • So Far So GREAT! Review by Casualleigh (Posted on 12/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
I ordered two of these beds for my 95-pound Golden Retriever and my 106-pound Mastiff. The Mastiff is older and he needs a supportive bed for his old bones. That being said, the Golden had destructive tendencies that no bed has survived and he doesn't discriminate against the Mastiff's bed, leaving the old guy laying on the floor, bed-less due to his compadres destruction. That was the case until we received the K9 Ballistic beds! They both partake in the comfort of their beds and the Golden doesn't seem to have any interest in placing his teeth upon them. Time will tell, but so far so great!

  • A few chew checks and she was foiled! These beds are awesome! Review by Spruce (Posted on 11/24/2016)
    Overall Quality
Got two of these in hopes that our exuberant and slightly neurotic one year old Australian Shepherd would have a comfy spot to lay down in/outside for more than just a few days (which is about how long it takes her to realize she can destroy a regular dog bed). I love these beds! The orthopedic bed is fantastic because she can't pull it out of her dog house and it fits perfectly which is an added bonus. After a few days she started checking out the inside bed, the zipper flap for the bolster, and the bolster itself were particularly interesting to her. After a couple chew checks she gave up and hasn't tried since. These beds are great and we plan on getting another whenever we get our next dog.

  • Could use a few design tweeks but Great Bed! Review by R. D. from Houston (Posted on 8/8/2016)
    Overall Quality
Nice bed, however, it took a while for our dogs to get used to the material and we had to put a towel over it because I don't think they liked the Nylon type sound when they moved around. I would also like to see a more sturdy zipper with a flap that would Velcro over the closed position so that dog could not unzip it to get to the insides. Overall though a really nice bed and I love the embroidery.

Thank you for making such a quality orthopedic bed. We purchased a bolstered bed for our senior Afghan hound. She loves it, the cat loves it, and our young Pharaoh hound loves it as well. It was well worth every penny and we have not had it a full week yet.
  • Strong, tough beds, but the covers should be redesigned -- replacing the zipper with a double head zipper. Review by Duane (Posted on 7/31/2016)
    Overall Quality
A great bed! However, you guys should redesign the covers immediately! You should have a double zipper (not a single one) -- with the two zipper heads meeting in the middle, so that the customer doesn't have to struggle to pull the zipper all the way around both when inserting the mattress and, especially when inserting the bolster. This bed is extremely difficult to handle (because of size and weight). I have always purchased extra large beds, and this is the first time I've ever seen a single zipper used in a cover of this size. Also, you should use a larger, heavier more utilitarian zipper. I recommend you take a look at the extra large covers offered by Orvis for its beds. I purchase a lot of products from Orvis, and they're very well made (with the double zippers I've recommended). I purchased an extra cover for this bed. I will either return it to you (because of the faulty design) or I will take it to a seamstress to replace the zipper with a double zipper as I've recommended.

I got a large for my two redbone coonhounds. They can both fit in it, but usually Amber sprawls out and Minnie will lie on the K9 Ballistics crate pads, which have also been great. Very well-cushioned, which I thought they would need as they grow older.
  • Love! Review by Lindsay (Posted on 7/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have 65lb boy and bought the xtra large. I wanted a durable bed that can last awhile and one that is comfortable for him. Also so he would stop waking my husband and I in the middle of the night begging to come up on our bed lol. We've had the bed for a few weeks now and he loves it. He has not begged us at all to come up on our bed and seems to get a good deep sleep. I've even found him upstairs curled up with his stuffed animals after his dinner time. It's easy to clean, not a pain to put back together if it's needed to be washed in the washer machine. Due to the fabric on this you can simply take a cloth to it too. I would highly recommend, worth the price!
Delivery was great as well as packaging. Ease to put together.

  • Well Made Review by marjorie (Posted on 5/28/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have 2 dogs and got a medium for the small dog and a large for my big dog. I could tell when I got them that beds were well made. Received beds on 5/12/2016. I have tried so many dog beds. Usually in 2 days the big dog rips a couple of holes in the beds and then in a week he has destroyed both his bed and the other dog's bed. Probably have got around 8 new beds just this year so I thought I give these beds a try. My big dog--when anyone comes to door or walks by on the sidewalk or mailman delivers the mail dog will pick up the dog bed in his mouth and fling it around the room and bite it and then goes after the other dog's bed. He had done that to both of these new beds and he has not been able to really bite into them. There are teeth marks on both of the beds but he hasnt been able to really tear into the beds with his teeth. He has a hard time flinging the big one around because it is heavy so I think that helps. I am happy with the beds. Usually in a few days he puts holes in both dog beds and then the other one year old little dog will go and pull out the stuffing from the beds. So far that has not happened with these beds. Any dog bed that can last in this house more than 3 days I like!

When I began to open the package, Jackson instinctively knew the bed was for him. Immediately after setting it up, he crawled right in and would not leave! It's been a month now and he hasn't even attempted to shred this doggy bed! Finally, Jackson is resting well and comfortable in his bed!

Best bed for a dog I have ever had. I have bought quite a few in the past. The ones I had bought come apart at the seams, if my dog digs in it, it gets a hole in it. This Tuff Bed will not do that. My dog loves it.

We have one dog we could hire out as a Beaver, she can chew through anything. Wish I had a picture of the leather couch she did a number on. Has eaten absolutely every bed and blanket and throw toy we ever gave her. We didn't have much hope for the new K9 Ballistics bed but guess what - it is still in the same condition as when we first put it down for her - hooray. We certainly recommend K9 Ballistics

I have a 208 pound Great Dane that absolutely loves his new bed and he actually fits on it. He uses the sides for his pillow and sleeps well on it. He has really put it through many test already and the bed has held up great. He is known to dig, dig, dig before he lays down and at 208 pounds he can really dig and he hasn’t even been able to put a scratch on it. This is an expensive item but well worth it and would buy it again.

    Overall Quality
Our 15 month American Mastiff chewed up his K9 Ballistics bed in less than 5 days. Emailed for the 90 day guarantee, found out they will replace the cover once only, so I asked for my money back. I was then informed it wasn't a money back guarantee. Asked for a replacement cover, but doubt this one will last any longer than the first. Very disappointed for the price we paid. I would not recommend this bed.

Very pleased with the quality of this bed....

    Overall Quality
We purchased the large orthopedic bed with bolsters for our senior Boerboel. We also have a young at heart Boston. They love sharing this bed. I love that I can vacuum the fur off the bed and wipe it down with a wet rag and it's clean. I don't have to disassemble it, shake out the fur, wash it, still get tons of fur in my washer, dry it, tons of fur in the dryer, reassemble it, only to have a ton of fur woven into the fibers. It's nice to know that in the summer we can just take it out, house it off and let it dry in the sun. Even though the cover it's machine washable...I don't have to. Best investment!

Our pitbull (our 5 year old rescue who weighs over 72 olbs.) loves to chew, tear apart, and is basically focused on one thing for all her belongings .... DESTROY!

  • Last forever but is that the issue? Review by Christopher (Posted on 2/22/2016)
    Overall Quality
I wouldn't say she loved it instantly or even much likes it after a couple of weeks. To be fair she has the run of all the furniture in the house and two smaller beds. But here is what I think you should know - what I wish I had known. If you have a small dog (Shelbs in 33 pounds) who is almost 7 years old, I don't think being chewproof is a giant concern. That said of course YMMV. No way a dog her size chews up this bed.

But assuming that chew proof is not an issue, you need to understand that this is anything but a soft or cuddly or plush bed. With 5" of foam and Tuff cloth which is a hard ballistic cloth stretched taut by K(s very precise cutting and sewing, you can literally bounce quarters off it. The end result is a bed that will last forever. And probably gives under a big dog - but not a little dog.

Now as to why I got it. First she is getting older so I wanted to provide her with great cushioning. Second, despite her size she is very much an outdoor dog. We live on the high mesa of New Mexico so there is mud, snow, burrs etc. In fact her nickname is the MudHen. So while the dark green shows dirt like crazy it can be wiped clean.

I also got her a smaller Orthopedic crate pad to take to the kennel with her when she boards. She doesn't like it either but it beats heck out of the soft crate pad I had.

So there you go - no knocks or anything but respect for these fine folks who have been extremely helpful and service oriented. 4 stars because you need to take a moment to think about your dog and it's needs - I would say the bigger the dog or the mouthier the easier decision this is.

We just received this product and, before we could go through the small, easy steps of assembling it, our Boerboel puppy laid down on it as if it has been his years. Haha. After we shewed him away so we could finish setting it up, he came back over, laid down, and was asleep within minutes. He adapted instantly to it and now he likes to sleep AND play on it. There is no doubt it was worth the investment.

Our dog is a 14lb Alaskan Klee Kai. He shreds every bed, the last one was a 60$ bed that lasted less than 12 hours before he had shredded a hole in the middle. So my husband and I decided to invest in a bed that would hold up and last. While the K9 Balistics beds are expensive, they are totally worth it. We've spent more on beds and replacing beds in the last few months than had we just bought a Tuff bed to begin with. My only complaint is that my dog does not find it comfortable. He wouldn't even lay on it until I laid a blanket on it. Now that there's a blanket on it, he loves it. He loves the bolster around the bed and leans on it all of the time. Even though Avalanche is small, we went with a medium bed because he likes to stretch out. I think he could have

I was reluctant to spend so much on a dog bed but very glad I took the chance. My two labs are only two yrs. old and they sleep on the bed very peacefully through the day when we are at work . I had one issue when the bed arrived, the inner cover for the orthopedic mattress would not unzip. I contacted the company and they sent me a replacement right away. Great bed and company.

My English Mastiff is 4 months old and loves the bed. She has not attempted to chew it yet so I can't say how chew proof it is but she loves the bolsters and the ortho pad. I laid a small quilted blanket on the bed and it cuts the noise down. No complaints here. Thanks.
  • Timothy & Sarge love it! Review by Meatloafps (Posted on 1/6/2016)
    Overall Quality
Timothy & Sarge go with me in my van almost everywhere I go and their new K9 Ballistics xxl Orthopedic dog couch is perfect for them. It fits perfectly across the rear deck in my van and doesn't move around or bunch up so they just sleep in it and enjoy it. Previously Timothy has destroyed at least 20 beds over the past two years, they would rip on a seam or split the fabric and then he would go at it ending with a big pile of shredded fabric and fluff. Since they've had the K9 Ballistics bed they haven't even attempted to shred it. It fits the space it's in perfectly and seems to be so solidly built that they just relax and sleep in it. The cost is well worth it to not have to keep replacing a cheaper bed every couple weeks.

This bed is awesome, I've been challenged to find the best dog bed that my two Pitbulls would not destroy, I have definitely found it. I've gone through more than 15-20 beds. My dogs are comfortable, and have not chewed through the bed.
  • 2nd ortho bed purchased Review by Wayne (Posted on 1/4/2016)
    Overall Quality
I was very pleased with the quality and toughness of our first bed. I was looking for a ballistic nylon covered bed to replace one 3 years old. Storm is very hard on beds and, try as he might , he couldn't hurt the first one. Having to pay that much, I was apprehensive. I bought both of the beds in orthopedic fill as Labs have problems with their hips, as we all know. The first one was a flat, no bolster. It is still used as a yard bed. My wife wanted Storm to have a bolstered bed for the new year. Storm really likes it sleeping with his head rested on the bolster. These are the best made beds available. It is really worth the price paid. The old saying holds true, "You get what you pay for"!

We absolutely love this bed!!! My giant breed, South African Mastiff is in heaven! I can even sleep on it with him because it is so comfortable. The cover is beautiful and I even had his name embroidered on it! So worth an extra $10!

Before K9 Ballistics beds and a crate pad, we had gone through numerous beds, pads, other orthopedic beds and nothing held a candle to this one! He loves it as well as the Orthopedic Crate pad! I wish I could post a picture of him on it! He's 115 pounds at 10 months old and still growing!

If your dog has ruff or sand paper like paws or you don't cut your dog's nails regularly do not by this bed! We have it next to our bed and our sleep sucks. Any movement and we're wide a awake. We wanted a bed that would last a long time but for the money you think it would be made out of something soft or smooth, not scratchy. Although I will give it 2 stars because it is atleast made well and should last a long time.
  • Better than expected! Review by Bryan (Posted on 11/24/2015)
    Overall Quality
I have spent some time researching the market for so called "tough" dog beds before deciding to take a chance on the K9 Ballistics. The on-line company’s reviews played a big role in my decision and am so thankful I did. The bed is perfect for my 8 month GSP. She loves it and no longer wants to sneak on the couch. This is the first dog product I have purchased in a long time that I would say I am going to get years and years of use. I am going to order a crate bed next! Buy from K9 Ballistics, you will not be disappointed!

I wasn't to happy at first to be paying $350 for a dog bed. But my two dogs absolutely love this bed!! worth every penny. My dog was able to chew through it in 30min. But with the warranty they shipped me a new cover and shared some helpful tips on what I could try to get my dog to stop chewing on it. So far my dog hasn't tried chewing on the bed again. So very happy customer.
  • Buy this now! Review by Morgan (Posted on 11/3/2015)
    Overall Quality
I was hesitant to buy this bed because of the price (which isn't horrible to begin with), but I considered it an investment considering my 50lb American Bully puppy was rapidly growing and had already destroyed a bed in the short 5 months that she's been alive. I had no idea which bed to get, as my little girl will sleep in ANY position that she can find! Sometimes she's snuggled in a ball, other times she stretches out, and she also lies on her back. Most nights, however, she sleeps with her head propped on my chest. I opted for a bolstered bed for this reason, and I'm so glad that I did! I went with the orthopedic mattress due to her breed having the tendency for joint problems, hip dysplasia, etc. even though she is just a puppy right now. Finally, I chose the TUFF bed because I didn't want to walk into another "you shouldn't have left me alone" mattress explosion. I put her bed down and she proved that I made the right choice by IMMEDIATELY trying to play tug-of-war with it! She chewed and tossed it around and finally gave up. So far, so good! It's even big enough for mom to lay on sometimes too :)
  • Good Quality Review by Doug (Posted on 10/7/2015)

We just received the Orthopedic bolstered bed yesterday and left our dogs home for about 3 1/2 hours. My wife came home from lunch and our two Doberman/Shepard/Leopard hound mix dogs tore 2 of the corners out and had just removed half the bolster. We immediately took it out of their kennel area and are currently waiting for a replacement cover.

The bed is definitely good quality and survived with a few bruises after this length of time. Our Costco beds were totally destroyed within the same period.
If K9 Ballistics has any newly designed test beds they would like to have tested our dogs seem to be experts at disassembling almost anything thrown at them. I may suggest a thick Kevlar bed to survive these 1 year old pups...LOL
  • WOW!! Review by Nick (Posted on 9/16/2015)

After ton of chewed up products for our 9 month German Shepherd so glad to come across this product while serching for a new bed. We have been wanting to buy her a big bed to put in her 10' 10' kennel we have in our carport out in the backyard. I was a little concerned as always about products promoting chew proof as I have not bought any to live up to those expectations. She has always went straight to chewing any thing new we gave her and destroying it. After assembling the bed I took it outside to place in her kennel, and she was curious at first sniffing away, but would not lay on it so I layed down on the bed to get some scent on it, and rubbed her only stuffed animal that was my son's that she will not destroy on it as well. After that she was laying all over it and got comfy real quick. She never goes in her kennel if I'm outside with her until now she loves her bed and it's as if she knows it all hers. No chewing yet and have bed completely blown away she loves it. Thanks.

I have a 1 yr old rottweiler that has chewed everything ive put in his crate so i got him the orthopedic bed. He immediately took to it and loves it. He hasnt attempted to chew it yet for some reason so i cant say for sure if its chew proof. I would give it 5 stars but i took 1 off for the fact that its noisey. Every move he makes, the bed is loud. Doesnt take him long to get comfortable so its not much of an issue. Id recommend one that has a soft surface if your dog sleeps by you. The bed is very high quality and worth the price you pay

These are the best dog beds ever. I have a little dog who can chew through anything and destroys all the dog beds in record time. However, she hasn't been able to scratch or chew her way through these amazing beds. We have spent so much money on dog beds in the past few years, but now these will be the last ones we'll ever need.
  • So far, so good. Review by Saint & Dane (Posted on 8/31/2015)
    Overall Quality
So far we love the bed. The Great Dane (the chewer in question) hasn't even attempted to chew it, as of yet. It seems very sturdy and it"s a breeze to clean the hair off of it. Our St. Bernard took to it instantly. He sits on it and patrols the back yard for intruders (squirrels, possum, rabbits, whatever). Plus it frees up space on the couch. So, yes, we love the bed and so do the dogs. Great product!

I have tried out so many beds with our Boxer and Brittany and they never seem to want to sleep on their beds until now. My dogs shed also and the tan color I got is perfect, durable and so easy to clean. I originally got these to take to our ranch for them because of their durability and ease to clean, but now need to order 2 more for home because they love them!! Our boxer is 7 and I notice her joints bother her less when she gets up from this bed. I am so happy to finally have a source for great dog beds! It makes me happy knowing my dogs are comfortable. Thank you!!!

  • Nice bed, quieter than cujo cot Review by Amy (Posted on 5/18/2015)
    Overall Quality
My 40 lb retriever(?) mix graduated from the cujo cot (chew proof, but noisy!) to this bed. She has made no attempt to chew on it, although she has ruined many beads from other companies. I feel secure that this bed will hold up very well.

This bed is quieter than the cujo cot. The size looked big coming out of the box (size M for 40 lb dog), but the bolster takes up a bit of room so in the end it is the right size.

I thought my dog would use the bolster as a pillow, but it may be a bit tall for her. However, my husband thinks she may feel more secure with the bolster at her back and surrounding her, so maybe worth the extra $.

The color is very pretty (Marine Blue Stripe)--a mix of peacock blue/teal, sky blue and white.

We have purchased three crate pads from K9 Ballistics, so when we kicked our miniature dachshund out of our bed so I would sleep better, we came back to K9 Ballistics. I was afraid she wouldn't take to the bed, but she seems to love it. She stays in it all night (as long as she has a blankie to burrow in). The bed is well made, and so far, my other dogs, who are all chewers, have left it alone. I've found my forever dog bed supplier with K9 Ballistics.

I was very impressed with this bed from the minute it came of the delivery truck. Packaging was excellent, easy to put together, you can see how durable this thing is while putting it all together. Even the Embroidery was done nicely! The minute we laid it out, our babies were in pure bliss! Comfortably fits two big Euro Great Danes. I will be ordering more beds very soon. Going for the crate beds!

Unfortunately my dog chewed through this right away. She is a rescue and I was her 3rd parent after being taken away from her original home. I've had her about 9 months now. She has chewed through 4 different beds now. She is a Labrabull and loves to chew - she has a few bones with her at all times. She is 17 months old now and may need to wait another year or so...
  • Great bed, cover sizing is off Review by Alex (Posted on 1/13/2015)
    Overall Quality
We bought this in a large. My dogs love it (I already have snuggle pix) but the cover sizing is off for the orthopedic version. It's slightly too big, which means the bolster just flops down over the side when the dogs lean on it, not standing up nicely like in the pix. Reducing the overall cover size by about 1" all around would fix this.

We have a 2 year old 100# chocolate lab that can has jaws of steel. Can shred anything so I was very concerned about buying another dog bed that he could destroy. I convinced my husband to invest in this because it was indestructible. When the box came our dog went crazy when we pulled the pieces out. He tried for about 5 minutes to chew it, then gave up.GREAT investment, he loves his bed and we don't worry. It's only been a little over a week but we love, love, love it!

Initially disappointed with the bed. Bought a large, it looked huge, the slippery surface made noise that spooked both dogs. My old girl seemed to not be able to get her footing securely. That was day 1. By day 2, everyone loved it, even the cat. Supportive and comfy. Tuff surface material is a dream to vacuum. Noise no longer bothers anyone and the old dog is fine with it. Highly recommended. And definitely chew proof (the pup tried her darnedest on day 1 and gave up.)

I bought 3 medium sized beds for our two 80 lb. Airedale Terriers (ages 4 & 9). The beds are of very high quality: the foam is supportive and the cover material is scratch resistant and easy to wipe clean. It doesn't attract dog hair--it just brushes right off. It is a little "slippery," which would not be a problem if I had ordered the right size (a large instead of a medium). Overall, an excellent product.
  • Outstanding Dog Bed Review by Peter (Posted on 6/2/2014)

It is so nice to buy a product that does exactly what it says it is going to do. My dog loves the bed, great support and no chewing. I had a little apprehension before I purchased it, because I thought the material was going to be thick, rough, etc. Not true - very soft smooth and comfortable. Those of you that have not had a foam (Tempurpedic) type bed before will notice a smell from the foam. That is natural. It goes away after a couple of weeks and the dogs don't mind. Bottom line - great bed

Awesome beds we now have five in the house. Our greyhounds love the bolster pillow. We use them outside on the deck also. All 4 of our dogs scratch before laying down and all regular beds would eventually rip and the stuffing comes out. All K9 ballistics beds are holding up to the abuse.

Received the bed several days ago. Lucy (100 lb Chesapeake) usually scratches and starts to tear new beds day one pulling stuffing out. She scratched at her new tough bed briefly and gave up. It looks perfect with no pulls or tears. And she loves it. I may finally have found one she won't wreck. I'll ck back in cpl months...so far so good. Very well made, smart to put the HD Velcro on the bottom to access the pillow.

Light Chewers & Scratchers

Built K9 Tough, resisting many chewing dogs, good for almost any dog. Backed by our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee, these are the bed covers our business was built on. If our proprietary TUFF flex Ballistic material wasn’t tough enough, we've upgraded it with Rip-Stop technology!

These bolstered beds feature two zippers on the back of the bed, concealed by pocket flaps.

If you have a persistent chewer this bed is not right for your dog. While it utilizes our super tough Ballistic RipStop material, the high bolstered edges provide an easy target for dogs who like to chew. These covers are water resistant, odor resistant, hair resistant, and machine washable. These are some of the most practical and long lasting beds available anywhere.
Size Guide

We recommend measuring your dog and comparing it to the dimensions of our beds to ensure the perfect size; every dog is unique. Measure your dog with a tape measure from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail. This is the minimum length you should consider for your pup's bed.
Technology

TUFF COVER™ TECHNOLOGY

ripstop tuff cover for dog beds

RipStop Ballistic Material™

The chew-proof ballistic material with rip-stop tech avoids tears, and prevents growth if they start. It is just one more detail that makes these beds tough as nails (and tougher than teeth!)

double stitched seam dog bed

Reinforced Seams

We're proud to say our interior seams are double stitched and surged. This prevents snags, fraying, and damage from chewing.

Additionally we include a layer of material at the bed's corners. Corners are the first things to go when a dog decides to start chewing. By reinforcing this weak point, we greatly increase the life of the bed.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reduced Seam Construction

Right after corners, seams are the weak spots which dogs exploit most frequently in beds. By reducing the number of seams on a bed fewer temptations present themselves, and therefore reduce the risk of demolition!

water resistant dog bed

Repels Dirt, Hair, and Moisture

Tightly woven synthetic fibers make this bed chew proof, and also resistant to a wide array of other damaging forces. Water, dirt, hair, and muck simply don't cling to the bed and can be easily wiped away; after wiping with a damp cloth the bed often looks as good as new!

machine washable dog beds

Machine Washable

Accidents happen, it's a fact of life; Murphey's law if you will. Having a machine washable dog bed helps clean up those accidents quickly and easily. For those messes that do not wipe away, let the machine washer do the work.

We recommend washing with cold water on a gentle cycle, and then air drying. The heat and friction of a machine dryer could shorten the lifespan of the bed, and we want our products to last as long as possible!

odor resistant dog bed

Synthetic Fibers Resist Odors

The extremely dense synthetic fiber weave of our Ballistic Material not only stops moisture, but also odors! Dirt, grime, and even mold spores have a tough time sticking to the bed cover, and when these elements can't stick around neither can the smell.

odor resistant dog bed

Hypoallergenic Material

Dust mites cause a large number of allergic reactions for dogs. Mold and mildew spores can also trigger allergic reactions. The sythetic fibers used in this cover prohibit dust mite invasions, and make life difficult for mold spores as well. These allergens require organic fibers to build their homes, and this cover uses a 100% synthetic fiber construction. Dust mites beware!

ORTHOPEDIC MATTRESS TECHNOLOGY

machine washable dog bed mattress

High Density Memory Foam

Our orthopedic mattresses are made with two layers of foam: the top 1.5" layer of high quality memory foam, and the bottom 3.5" layer of support foam. Our memory foam has a 4.5 lb / sq. ft. density rating.

Other beds which don't use the bottom support layer often settle too quickly and your dog can end up lying on the floor. This negates the benefit of the orthopedic foam! We just couldn't settle for that. We decided to include firm joint support in the base layer and supple comfort in the top layer of memory foam.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Water Resistant Nylon Mattress Liner

The foam mattress is protected by a water resistant nylon cover which keeps the sensitive foam dry and odor free. If you've ever met a dog with incontinence problems then you understand how this extra layer of moisture resistance can be vital.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Joint Support for Large Breeds or Aging Pets

Large dogs often experience joint problems more frequently than smaller dogs, due to their increased size and weight. It isn't fair, but pet owners can proactively fight joint problems with orthopedic pet furniture such as our memory foam dog bed.

Our orthopedic beds can prevent joint problems, ease joint pain that's already begun, or just plain spoil your canine companion.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ballistic Fabric?

Ballistic Fabric is a thick, tough, synthetic material used for a variety of applications. Ballistic fabric was originally developed by the DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets to be worn by World War II airmen. The term ballistic fabric takes its name from the fact that it was intended to protect its wearers from flying debris and fragmentation caused by bullet or artillery shell impacts.

What is "Hydro-fuge" Technology?

Our Polyester filled mattresses come with our ventilated Hydro-Fuge mattresses inside for good air permeability and heat dissipation. Hydo-fuge technology means that they have good water permeability (water passes right through them). They are also channeled to prevent clumping, and filled with our eco-friendly recycled fiber.

Does this bed have zippers?

This Bolstered TUFF Bed has two zippers. The first is the opening for the nesting or orthopedic mattress, which runs around the back bottom edge of the bed. The second zipper is concealed beneath a flap of Ripstop material and gives access to the bolster pillow opening which runs the full length of the bolster pillow.

What makes your ballistic fabric superior to other bed materials?

Canvas and fabric beds are not chew proof by any means. You have to remember, dogs have been known to chew through materials that you'd never even imagine a dog could chew through. Our military-grade ballistic material is used specifically for it's durability and toughness, which makes for a longer-lasting, chew proof product that outlasts other beds made from inferior materials. Most companies take an off the shelf fabric, one made for furniture or luggage, and use it on a dog bed. We've designed our own fabric built around the function of a dog bed. We've recently upgraded our ballistic material to be Ripstop, which means its now even better at withstanding moderate chewing and scratching. Our fabric is waterproof, so it can withstand rain, outdoor conditions with its UV protection, and pets which may be incontinent. There is nothing on the market that is built better. This is the best option for an all around durable bed. We have paid extreme attention to all the details.

Are your beds really "chew proof"?

To be fair, there's really nothing short of hard metal that is absolutely "chew proof" - dogs have been known to chew through kevlar, wood, bricks, chain link fences and light metals just to name a few! If a dog has the ability and wants to bad enough, they can chew through most materials. However, we advertise our beds as "chew proof", and we stand behind our beds as the most chew proof products available. Ultimately, what makes our beds "chew proof" is not only the materials that we use, but also our 90 Day Chew Proof Warranty!

My dog is a heavy chewer, which bed do you recommend?

The Cujo Cot should be the go to bed for all medium or heavy chewers. With our "No Chew" design, hidden fabric edges, and durable corner covers, and aluminum frame, there is nowhere for dogs to get ahold of the fabric on the bed. Once your dog is conditioned not to chew a TUFF bed or TUFF Bed Crate Pad can be added for extra comfort.

What if my dog does manage to chew up this bed?

We have a 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee on all Original, Round, Orthopedic, Mini TUFF Beds and TUFF Pads. If your dog does manage to chew through one of the TUFF Beds within the guarantee period, we'll replace the cover, free of charge. If your dog manages through our TUFF Pads or Mini TUFF Beds, we'll send out a free replacement. We're that confident!

Aren't all dog beds the same? What makes yours so different?

Our beds are actually built to inhibit the dog's ability to chew them. For starters, the covers of our beds are made out of military grade 1680 denier ballistic nylon, the same material worn as body armor by US combat forces! Unlike other beds, our ballistic nylon is far more chew resistant than cloth or other cheap fabrics that can be ripped apart at the seams. We take extra pains to engineer our beds with concealed Velcro closures on the bottom of the beds to minimize the dog's temptation and ability to chew in this area. Rounded corners and solid, well-sewn seams also greatly reduce the possibility of the dog grabbing hold of a weak seam.

What about cleaning the bed?

Our beds are super-easy to clean! First separate the cover and the fill and place in the washing machine separately. Close the Velcro on the cover completely before washing. Make sure to wash on delicate and cold. Air dry or line dry are the best way to dry the bed. Heat drying is not recommended. Please note vomit and urine have corrosive properties which can penetrate through the water resistant cover damaging the inner fill. Clean all urine and vomit immediately with a dry towel. Remove the inner fill and wash the bed cover using the instructions mentioned above. Customers in the past have told us that a deodorizer (ex. Febreeze) can take away the urine or vomit smell.

Is there any kind of assembly required for the TUFF beds?

Our TUFF beds require minimal assembly. Simply place the cover over the fill and close the Velcro. If you are having trouble placing the cover over the fill, try placing the cover on the floor (Velcro side up). Fold the fill and insert one side into one part of the Velcro. With one side in, unfold the fill while inserting the remaining portion into the second half of the cover. Close the Velcro and you're done!

If your dog chews through the cover, it is covered under our warranty. We will send out, free of charge, one replacement bed cover (not including bed fill). This one-time warranty is good for up to 90 days from the day that K9 Ballistics shipped out your purchase.

If you notice any damage of our product resulting from chewing or scratching, we recommend immediately removing the bed from your dog's access. Some dogs like to eat their bedding, so for your animals' health we recommend waiting to reintroduce the bed when the replacement cover arrives and/or when the dog grows out of the chewing phase.

How to Process a warranty Claim

What we need to process a warranty is:
1. An email sent by the person who placed the order (usually you) with your name and address
2. A photo of the damage (you can also include a photo of the culprit if you like). You do not need to send us your bed or cover.

Send email with pictures to [email protected]. It usually takes us five to seven business days to get back to you.

Warranty can be enacted just once. If you do not wish to enact your warranty, we can refund you 50% of the cost of the item provided that a picture of the damage is sent to us.
