  • Great pad especially for my Doberman that has managed to tear up everything. Review by Beth (Posted on 12/25/2016)

The orthopedic tuff crate pad is great, my doberman has not managed to tear it up and that is a good thing indeed.

We are picking up our Mini F1B Goldendoodle in two days and her crate is ready! The crate pad fits perfectly and seems extremely durable and comfortable! Can't wait for her to try it out! It really cozies up the crate . . . we like the thickness!

  • Great product! Review by Trebla Nitsuj (Posted on 12/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have only had the bed for a week now, but so far it is exceeding my expectations! We have had our 1.5 year old on a bare plastic crate bottom for several months, because everything we put in there he destroys in less than a day. The first day, my Great Dane / Boxer mix, went to town on this crate pad. One portion was soaked with saliva from him chewing on it. Not a single mark on the cover at all! After a few days, I think he gave up on the new pad and went back to his chew toys. I'm so excited to see how long this lasts!
  • Comfy Dog Happy Dog Review by Seth (Posted on 12/14/2016)

We have a Malinois and he loves it. We had a regular crate pad (that held up great!) in his other crate that he outgrew and decided to get the Orthopaedic for more comfort. He now if he comes up missing we go look aim crate first. He is normally found there!
  • Fantastic product! Review by Jacqueline M (Posted on 12/12/2016)

My grand puppy, a one year old yellow lab absolutely loved this product. In fact, he loved it so much that he wouldn't come out of his crate for several hours! So far there hasn't been any inclination to chew it either.
  • How to spoil your dog. Review by Joanne (Posted on 12/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
The pad came intact, easy to stuff into the covering, excellent quality. It fits perfectly in the crate. Our dog doesn't spend a lot of time in his crate as we use it for when we leave him alone, so I can see this pad lasting forever. It's probably overkill, but I'm glad we bought it, especially for the softness.

  • Dog loves it so I love it Review by Robert (Posted on 12/2/2016)
    Overall Quality
I could not be more satisfied with this product because my dog loves it. This particular pad is more expensive than most but it's definitely worth the money. It's soft but also very supportive. The cover is very strong but still comfortable for my dog to lay on. He normally only sleeps in his crate at night but now he wants to nap in the crate instead of on the couch. Fits my 42 x 28 crate. 60 lb Golden.

  • Proven chew proof and worth every penny. Review by Laura (Posted on 11/29/2016)
    Overall Quality
Lucy has always chewed her bedding disemboweling it by throwing stuffing everywhere. She's a tripod so I've invested a lot more than this bed cost trying to find an orthopaedic bed to support her arthritic good hip. She'd invariably chew up the foam pad and cover. Finally! I found a chew proof bed for her that she loves. WELL worth the investment!
  • Awesome Review by Michelle (Posted on 11/24/2016)

My Kammie loves her bed!!! I had a baby bed mattress covered in plastic & her nails always tore the plastic. She has a nervous stomach & occasionally would throw up on her mattress-no good. I had to throw away covers & sheets because of this. With this mattress, I can take it out & wash the cover & the inside is safe! Thank you for such an awesome product!

Our 1 year old great dane/American bulldog pup has destroyed 3 beds before this one. He has loved this bed since the second we bought it, hasn't even tried to chew it. He is more comfortable, is sleeping better, and a happy pup. I am very impressed and will likely purchase a bed for outside his crate too!

  • Outstanding products Review by James (Posted on 11/23/2016)
    Overall Quality
The above pad (along with all the other K9 products) have been outstanding and show no damage despite serious efforts by our dog. He is an Australian shepherd/terrier mix (90-10 mix, approx. 35 pounds) and has chewed most toys, etc. so much they rarely last more than one or two days. We are totally satisfied with K9 and how well they have performed.
  • Extremely Satisfied Review by Rodney (Posted on 11/18/2016)

My 8 month old, 108lbs Mastiff puppy completely, shredded and destroyed his previous crate pad. I bought the K9 Ballistics Tuff Create Pad and am very happy. Not a scratch so far! It even withstood a bout of sickness where my puppy had severe vomiting and diarrhea (TMI...I know) but it was completely waterproof and very easy to clean! Extremely satisfied!!!!

We have an 11 month old, 105lb Great Dane American bulldog pup. He has gone through 3 dog beds some were even rated "very durable." We have only had the tough orthopedic crate pad for a few days, but he already loves it and hasn't even attempted to chew it. He's sleeping much better and we feel much better as well. Thank you very much for creating something that he enjoys and that can stand up to him. We will see how things continue and he may get a dog bed for Christmas :)
  • Disappointed but not surprised! Review by Mark (Posted on 11/16/2016)
    Overall Quality
My dachshund Harley had his bed for no more than 2 weeks and he already had the embroidery mostly pulled out and had opened a hole that went across about half of the bed. I gave it 2 stars because I know that nothing and I repeat nothing is indestructable to Harley, and I really didn't have that much hope that this bed would survive him either.
  • Dog liked it. Didn't hold up though. Review by Donald (Posted on 11/16/2016)
    Overall Quality
I was really excited about this bed. Upon receipt everything was as advertised. Unpacking and setup was exactly as defined. However, within 15 min of deployment the corners were completely chewed. Disappointment ensured. Contacted customer service and followed their instructions of sending an email requesting warranty for my order number and pics. Waiting now for a response. Had this not occurred I think I would have been happy. My dog seemed to enjoy it though!

My 2 large dogs are hard on dog beds in their crates. Beds with cushioning or stuffing don't usually last more than 24 hours. 1 of the dogs has joint issues so I keep trying. Orthopedic TUFF crate pads to the rescue! My dogs love their beds and the beds show no damage. Thank you!
  • Working for our puppy's needs Review by Emily (Posted on 10/28/2016)

Our 5 month old (giant schnoodle) puppy is sleeping so soundly on her new crate pad. Originally, we purchased the pad because she developed lumps on her elbows from laying on hard surfaces, the lumps have decreased in size after just a week of sleeping on her new bed. World recommend product and well worth the money.

  • Well Worth The Money Review by Regina (Posted on 10/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
So far, so good. I have purchased 2 K9 Ballistics orthopedic beds for my dogs. They are well worth the money. In the past, I have bought several dog beds only to have them torn to shreds within days. I love the vinyl-like cover. It is very easy to keep clean. My dogs seem to enjoy their new beds.
  • So far so good Review by Courtney (Posted on 10/16/2016)

So far we love it! Our mini Aussie has chewed up three beds in 8 months. We've only had this bed a little over a week and don't see any signs of wear and tear. I have to confess that we did spray it with bitter tasting chew deterant as a precaution.

PS - thanks for the ball. Nice touch!

My dogs chew through their new things within a day of getting them. The tennis ball that K9Ballistics threw in the box (thank you!) was split in half with all of the fuzz ripped off on day 2. They have had this bed for over a week now and they cannot do any damage to it. I am very impressed.

I have a 6 month old show golden. He has chewed on it once but so far so good. Goes right in and lays down. It will be good for traveling for him. Product is high quality from the foam to the inside zippered protector to the outside. I did turn it upside down so he couldn't get the Velcro.
  • Nice bed, NOT Labrador proof. Review by Josh (Posted on 9/25/2016)
    Overall Quality
Product arrived on time. Was well made. Put into the crate with our labrador and in less than two hours it was torn apart. I contacted the warranty department, who was very friendly and helpful, they instructed me on how to file a warranty claim. I followed the steps and was told they would ship a replacement cover out right away. Its been over a week and I still don't have the replacement. I hope to see the replacement soon.

K9 Ballistics Response: According to our records, the replacement should be delivered 9/29/16. If you haven't received it at that time, please contact us by phone or email so that we can follow up with FedEx.

This has been a great product for us. It is our second one as our puppy grew out of the first one we purchased. She is a German Shepherd and has not chewed it or caused any damage..... and she likes to chew!
This company (K9 Ballistics) has treated us great. We would recommend them to anyone looking to make a purchase. Thank you Jodi Betz so much for your great service!

  • A Fair Deterrent, But Not Indestructible Review by Jane (Posted on 9/11/2016)
    Overall Quality
I like this bed, but I think I just had unusually high hopes given the name "K9 Ballistics"--thought it would be completely indestructible. That said, it did curtail my puppy's chewing when I first got it, since she was just chewing up towels and other soft beds like mad. But when I left her alone for only half an hour, I came back to a bunch of foam all around her and a chewed-through hole in the cover. So, I was disappointed. Also—so other consumers are aware—they replace the COVER ONLY, not the bed. That was a bit disappointing, too. Anyway, overall, my dog does not have the urge to chew this bed like all the other soft beds, so that IS a good thing. I wouldn't say it is indestructible by any means, but it is a fair deterrent while she is being trained.
  • Worth the money! Review by Paula (Posted on 8/13/2016)
    Overall Quality
I spent too much money trying all kinds of beds for his crate and my 5 month old majestic tree hound puppy would tear them apart in hours. He's had this bed for two weeks now and he hasn't found a way to damage it yet, plus he loves to cuddle up on it. Worth the extra money to get a bed that will last.
  • This pad is worth the price, and passes the puppy chewing test. Review by William H. (Posted on 8/9/2016)
    Overall Quality
I am well pleased with this crate pad. It is well constructed, and seems to be quite durable. My 4 month old Miniature Schnauzer male pup likes to go into his cage and lie down several times a day. He has tried to dig a spot to lie in, and the scratching noise is rather loud. So, I put a bed sheet folded over several times, to give him something to create a spot to his liking. The outer shell is holding up very well to his attempts to chew on it. The previous cage pad did not last 24 hours before he had ripped through it, and had torn out the sponge rubber pad.
  • This bed is not worth it if your dog has strong jaws Review by Matt (Posted on 8/3/2016)
    Overall Quality
I would give this 0 stars if I could. I have owned this bed for 2 weeks and my dog already chewed a hole through the bed and ate the stuffing. Thankfully he does not appear sick. He is a 70 pound lab that was able to do this. Not only did he chew through it I am being told I will only get 50% money back. I wish I had known about the customer service before I tried the bed.
  • Hygiene Review by Barbara (Posted on 8/1/2016)
    Overall Quality
Love the new bed and so do my two Maltipoos. They seem to sleep better. I like the added protection against "accidents" as this does happen when they get sick (my little one had kidney stones and bled all over the old mattress) this is so much better - hygiene wise. Fast, perfect delivery and followup email to give me status. Thank you,

I ordered two beds for large crates that have destructive dogs. Can't tell you how many beds I have been through. I like the velcro so much better than zippers. My dogs have not tried to turn the beds over and get to the velcro. So far two thumbs up!

My dog loves the feel of it he is now happy that when I am at work he can go in and out of the crate he spends more time in the crate sleeping on the tuff bed. He hasn't tried to put a hole in it yet.
  • Great product Review by Kate (Posted on 7/25/2016)

I had previously purchased a cover for my older Lab/Bull mastiff mix and she chewed through the first cover. Customer service was fast and responsive and sent out a new cover right away. It's been two years now and she has not chewed through the new one yet!
So when we decided to get a another dog this time a purebred Bull Mastiff we knew right where to go to get him his own bed. He loved it from the first time we gave it to him. He hasn't tried to chew it yet and he looks oh so comfy when he is sleeping. Thanks for making such a top notch quality product!
  • It has a hole in it. :( Review by Jade (Posted on 7/21/2016)
    Overall Quality
Got the orthopedic tuff crate pad from k9 ballistics and it only lasted about 3 days. My 7 month old lab/terrier mix chewed through the cover and had foam everywhere very quickly. We have been through several beds and i finally buckled down and bought this one hoping it would stand up to him, but no luck. After reading reviews from people with huge 60-70 pound dogs that claim it held up great, i was disapointed that my 40 pound dog was able to destroy it so quickly.
  • Excellent quality, just what I was looking for Review by Old School Dropout (Posted on 7/21/2016)
    Overall Quality
I was getting ready to bring home a English Bulldog pup a couple of months ago and trying to think of everything. Found a great HD crate but didn't want to use the traditional bed / mats made to fit in dog crates because they usually don't have enough padding in the bottom, it probably wouldn't last very long at all because every pup I've ever had or seen loves to chew on just about everything (and from what I'd read EB's are big-time chewers with some serious jaw power). Then there was also the liquid accident issue.

Broken down into three components - the foam core, water resistant nylon cover and the RipStop Ballistic outer cover this crate pad is top notch materials all the way and made as well as I could imagine. The seams are tucked away for durability and Heavy Duty stitched. Almost everything wipes away off this material.

We have been using this for well over a month and only a couple times the first week that we had our pup did he put a good soak through a beach towel and into the outer shell. Threw it into the wash as directed and it air dries very fast. If you catch a accident right after it happens it will actually bead up and stand so you can clean it up with paper towels and spray some odor remover. I still took the outer cover off to make sure it had stopped all liquid (it did) and let everything dry out faster.

My Bully has only tried to sample the edges (not really interested in chewing / gnawing on it). He has scratched around quite a bit, playing and before he lays down sometimes and I cannot see any effects of damage. I would buy this product again and definitely recommend, I think the price is reasonable. A true example of you get what you pay for.
  • The bed is amazing Review by Scott Michael (Posted on 7/12/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have bought way to many beds and none of them have lasted more then two nights. We have had this for just about two months. I wanted to give it some time to make sure. But to this day it has not been chewed through. One thing is though that our dog managed to flip over the bed and get the Velcro apart. Got to the bed inside, so the only thing I would suggest is putting a zipper instead of the Velcro. Other then that the outer portion of the bed was unscathed. So for that I have this bed a 5 star rating. I hope this helps and that you take the zipper idea seriously as this could possibly make your product even better then is already is! Thank you so much! We are thinking about getting another one to leave out for our Dori as she only sleeps in a crate and is left out during the day! Again thank you for this great bed!

    Scott

K9 Ballistics Response: Scott, if you haven't done so already, please send an email to our warranty department regarding your issue with the Velcro. They can get a replacement cover out to you, and if you place the new cover directly over the old cover and stagger them so that the Velcro ends up on opposite sides of the mattress, it will prevent your dog from reaching the inner fill through the Velcro again. We deliberately replaced zipper closures with Velcro to avoid any zipper-related emergency trips to the vet, as it can be very dangerous if a dog manages to chew off and swallow a zipper.

I thought I was going to be very lucky and not have a "chewer". I have a 7 month old German Shepherd that one day decided to destroy his orthopedic bed (another brand) in his crate. My fault, I wanted to sleep in on a Saturday til at least 6am! I got the K9 Orthopedic TUFF Crate pad and it's been over two weeks and not even a nibble. I did make some changes so he actually isn't locked in his crate overnight, and I make sure he is getting enough exercise. He likes it, it looks very nice and I'm sure it's going to last a long time!

  • I'm impressed! Review by Rebecca (Posted on 6/22/2016)

I purchased a bed for my shepard mix out of sheer desperation. She had chewed through 10 beds in 8 months. This bed arrived and seemed strong enough to thwart her attempts of destruction. But after about 3 weeks, my pup was able to chew through one corner and get to the foam padding. When I contacted customer service, they were amazing! They went above and beyond to help me. My pup has another bed and after actually listening to their suggestions of spraying bitter apple inside the cover, my pup hasn't chewed this bed. It's been over a month and still no chewing. I couldn't be happier! Well worth the cost and effort.

  • If you have a real chewer, this product won't help Review by Cassidy (Posted on 6/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have two dogs who received these beds, one Great Dane and one Shepherd mix. The product claims work really well for dogs who aren't actually chewers, like my Dane who just sleeps on it all day. But my mix chewed through the cover and then the foam inside in two different spots in 4 hours. Their warranty (which I never thought to check, because claims were that this was a great, unbreakable product) states that you only get 1 cover replacement or half a refund. If I had read that first, I immediately would've known this product isn't indestructable, and therefore not worth it as a $100 chew toy. Being sent a new cover, which doesn't help the orthopedic foam she chewed up as well, but their customer service is great, answered quickly, and gave advice to try and stop the chewing.

Recap: Product received right on time, my Dane loves it, easily chewed through twice in 4 hours, great customer service, but READ THE WARRANTY.

Well my 55 lb. 7 month male Golden finally chewed a small hole on the back side within two weeks of getting his bed. He likes to flip his bed over and chew on the back side only. He has only done this once and since then he hasn't tried at it again.
I give 4 stars only because he chewed thru it.

My 7 month old Doberman puppy, who is a terrible chewer, got a hole in the corner within 9 hours of use. I thought the warranty was Money back; it is not. Be sure to read the warranty before you buy. K9ballistics was great about sending me a new cover which I received in a couple of days. Have not used the new cover yet. Hole is growing extremely slowly. Hoping my puppy will out grow chewing before I need to put the new cover on. I believe this product in better than others.

I bought this crate bed for my 6 month old Pitbull and one day as I was washing out my girls crate and I noticed she was bitting through the bed. I called immediately and was told I was in warranty I sent out pictures in an email and by mistake the email didn't go through so I resent a week latter to get an email back I was out of warranty by a matter of a week and there was nothing to be done??? I could see if I had the bed 6 months or a year it's BRAND NEW! I tried a couple of times to get a response and I received nothing back. I wish I could give this bed a NEGATIVE STAR. I now have a useless crate bed for my girl. I would have been better to go to aPetco bought a cheaper bed and replaced it more often. Awful customer service horrible company. -

K9 Ballistics Response: We apologize that your experience was less than satisfactory, Denise, but based off the initial information we had from you your bed was nearly six months old by the time we received your email. However, after discussing the issue with you further we have arranged to send you a replacement cover and that is currently in transit to you now. We apologize again for any inconvenience this misunderstanding has caused you.

This mat didn't last 3 hours in our house. We had it for two days, as instructed, before leaving in the crate and our german shepherd puppy tore a hole in it within 3 hours. PSA: Check the warranty before purchasing.

This crate pad is hands down the best investment. Our chocolate lab, Chandler, loves sleeping on her crate and seems very comfortable. A big plus is that the crate pad cover is easy to wash. We would definitely purchase again!

I just received my 4th k-9 ballistics bed!!!! One of my dogs has pica and chews up dog beds. He's so bad that he's had surgery for it once... I'm happy to say he hasn't tried to chew any of these beds! And now my other dogs can have dog beds. I don't put one in his crate only because unless supervised I won't leave him with any kind of material overnight BUT he lays around on the the beds all day while we are there and loves them! My other dogs love them as well. They are easy to clean too. I'm thrilled with this product!

We are fans of all of k9B products. Our 110lbs golden, Dunder, is now too busy relaxing on his Ortho crate pad. He was good at chewing up past crate pads. With degenerative joint problems and separation anxiety, he would take it out on anything in cage. Not anymore! Happy furbaby, happy parents!

From the first day our bed arrived and placed in our dogs crate, he loved it, normally he would only go his crate when we were leaving the house. Now he lays in it all the time. In the past when we have purchased other beds within days he would have it torn apart. He has not even attempted with this bed!!
  • Didn't last 2 hours Review by Ray (Posted on 5/24/2016)
    Overall Quality
OK, first let me say that the crate pad would probably be OK in most cases. I am giving this two stars because the item didn't meet our expectations.
From the advertisements and product descriptions, we believed it would be more indestructible than it was.
I believe our Aussie took it as a personal challenge to chew up this item. It took him less than 2 hours to chew the corner.
Read the guarantees carefully because you will not get a full refund on this product. The company does make it easy to send in warranty claims to send a new cover or 50% refund.

Our dog Jezebelle - a one year old 65 lb German Shepherd - has destroyed several crate beds prior to this one. She loves it! It arrived well-packaged and after 24h to shake off the shrink wrapping it had expanded to full thickness and was ready to go. The vinyl cover is easy to remove and clean in the wash. Highly recommended!
  • Looks great, but didn't last 24 hours... Review by Jonathan (Posted on 5/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
My 30 lbs, 9 month old rescue pup had already eaten a hole through the cover and destroyed the foam insides in only 16 hours. We called, and we told that the warranty was only for the cover, but they would send us out a new one. We have yet to receive it, (it's only been a few days) and she has since eaten another hole in the cover and tore more of the foam out. So we'll need to buy a new foam piece for the inside when the cover finally does arrive. Seems like just another product falling short of its claims.

That said, we do have another bed from this company for our German Shepherd, one of the Lux Beds, and that one has been amazing.

We purchased the crate pads for our two minature Schnauzers. My black Schnauzer, Max has managed to rip, tear and demolish all former bedding ideas which included, a regular kong crate pad, newspaper, a tough kong crate pad and carpet. Also, we love that we were able to get their names emborderied on the pads. Max & Smokey love their crate pads. This was a great choice for us.

I love the design, and my dog loves the bed. We have (knock wood) address bed chewing, but were nervous about leaving him alone with a bed in his crate. The design doesn't give him any interesting edges or seams to chew on. He just sleeps peacefully! Thanks! We'll be adding one for his inbound little brother soon!

My dog chewed up his mat so my wife bought him another mat which he also chewed up in one night. I did an internet search and found your product. I tried it because I had nothing to loose since it had a 90 day guarantee. My dog loved it so much that he actually growled at anyone coming close to him when he first laid on it. It has been about a month and although I sometimes hear him scrapping his paws/nails on it, it has held up with no visible evidence of wear. Love it. It's lived up to it's reputation and I am glad I got it.

  • WE ALL LOVE THESE CRATE PADS! Review by Pat P (Posted on 5/2/2016)
    Overall Quality
I just received my two orthopedic tuff crate pads and LOVE them. They are soft enough to provide comfort for my arthritic husky and for my husky with ingrown hairs at her elbows (I never heard of this either, but my vet said she needed something soft to lay on). One husky likes to dig before she lays down. The pad shows no wear from this at all. The other husky like to chew and toss her pad around, but hasn't done that at all. Neither dog wants to come out of their crates. Another feature I love about the tuff crate pad is the fabric covering. not only is it tough, as you advertise, but it is the easiest to keep hair free. The vacuum removes in a flash the extraordinary amount of hair a husky releases while blowing their coats in the spring. Also, for an orthopedic pad, the price is very reasonable, too!

It was a quiet night last night with the new cover. Thank you so much!

We have 3 dogs that love to chew their beds. I didn't believe there was a bed that existed that my dogs couldn't destroy.

So I ordered the bed and my dog was able to open the velcro and rip the foam to pieces. I contacted K9 Ballistics and they sent me another piece of foam and cover immediately, They recommended that I use 2 covers to protect the foam. Well it worked!! I have had the beds for over 3 weeks and they are still in one piece. Hooray!!!!

I absolutely love this crate pad! My doberman has destroyed every pad, every blanket, everything that has been placed in his crate to sleep on. Now, that he's over 100# with all of his adult teeth, it doesn't take him long to destroy things. However, he hasn't done any harm to this crate pad whatsoever! He cannot chew it!! This pad is fabulous!

I already have two of the original Tuff beds for my German Shepherd because she had managed to shred every other bed, including one made by Kong. So, when my Chihuahua puppy managed to tear through 2 store bought beds already, I knew I had to get her a Tuff bed. She's been using it for at least a week now and has not managed to tear it at all. I love these beds!

  • So far so good. Review by Michael (Posted on 4/13/2016)

Our dog seems to love his new pad. He actually goes into his crate on his own to nap. He only does that when he is comfortable. He has not tried to chew on yet, which is a real big problem with him, but based on the quality of the material, I have no concerns that it will hold up to his aggressive chewing.

5 stars for now. I'll revise if there are any issues. :-)

I bought 2 bed for my male and female English Bull Terriers. They went through 4 other beds each before this. The first night we got the beds my male flipped his over and opened the velcro and chewed through the foam. I contacted K9Ballistics the next day and a few days later they had a new bed shipping out to me for him as well as another cover for my girls bed. Since then we haven't had a problem. My girl is a bed digger and she hasn't even put a scratch on the bed. By far the best bed I have bought and I will recommend these beds to everyone I know.
  • Not for every dog Review by MHM (Posted on 4/9/2016)
    Overall Quality
This pad is well constructed however it is not chew proof. If your dog has a tendency to chew through things like ours, this will NOT stop him/her. Our Springer Spaniel chewed through the cover the first night we use it.

I was so hoping to finally get a bed for our dog, but am sad to say, this did not solve the problem. And he doesn't respond to the Yuck sprays. I'm giving it three stars because the construction is very good, but it does not live up to it's claims; at least not with our dog.

  • Great Gift! Review by Cynthia (Posted on 4/6/2016)
    Overall Quality
I purchased the Ortho Tuff Crate Pad as a gift for my son's dog, Lana. My son and his wife recently moved into a new home and since then Lana has had issues with being crated during the day when her Mom & Dad are at work. She had shredded multiple blankets/beddings and was so traumatized in her new surrounding that she lost a significant amount of weight from tremoring/anxiety throughout the day when nobody was home. I thought we had nothing to lose by trying the Tuff Pad as it is guaranteed for 90 days. So, it has now been one week - the product is intact and Lana appears to be very comfortable in her crate and much more secure during her "parent's" daily absence. In conjunction with a diet upgrade, Lana is her wonderful pre-move self again! Most definitely worth the cost of the product!!

I have to say the customer is wonderful!! Unfortunately my dogs were able to chew through the corner of one of the beds within a few days of having the bed. • Cattle dog proof Review by patrick (Posted on 4/5/2016)
    Overall Quality
Larry, my lovely little Australian Cattle Dog, is a champion of bed destruction. He's destroyed 5 during his 1.5 years on Earth. He has free reign of the house while I'm at work but, he loves to lounge in his crate when I'm away. He had his K9 bed less than 24 hours when I returned home to find that he had yanked it from his crate. All previous beds had met their fate stemming from such an event. I don't know what possesses him to do this. This bed, the K9, stood the test and remained unfettered from his wrath. Now, weeks later, he loves the bed and has realized this one may match his meddle. I truly recommend the K9 beds for anyone with a dog that just plain EATS his bed. It can take it.

Love this pad. My dog just had surgery and is confined to her crate while she heals. This pad gives her the support she needs to be comfortable. The cover is just as advertised tough but easy enough to undo the velcro if the inner portion needs to be washed. Very good product. Would refer others to this site for quality products.

I thought your beds were slightly expensive until my wife reminded me we have replaced four $60.00 beds that were chewed up. My doberdane grumbled the first night on his new bed as it is not as soft as what he was used to. He pawed and dug at it with no rips whatsoever. A few more times trying to chew and he gave up. Now he sleeps perfectly on it. Well worh the price as I will not ever have to replace this one.

Have had the bed in my fur babies crate for a couple of weeks. The first week no chewing the second week I was disappointed that she decided to chew on a corner and pull the stuffing out. So far no further damage. She seems less inclined to chew on this bed, keeping my fingers crossed that she will decide to leave it alone. All in all a very nice bed.
  • Not so TUFF Review by Todd (Posted on 3/28/2016)
    Overall Quality
Unfortunately, our 8 month old Great Dane/Hound mixes destroyed these within hours, ripping a hole in the corners and pulling the foam mats out. We originally ordered two of the Velvet Tuff crate pads. The company was great about replacing the first crate pad that was destroyed, and we used the Orthopedic Tuff Crate Pad over the original Velvet cover. She ripped through both and pulled out the foam within 90 minutes. For us, not worth the money. If the dogs had not destroyed them, the mats themselves are very nice.

My Weimaraner who is 13.5 still suffers from extreme separation anxiety. For this reason she still must be kenneled.I have never been able to put anything in the crate because it was eaten. She ate an entire harness , left on by accident.Luckily the emergency vet was able to make her regurgitate it,avoiding a very dangerous surgery. So you see my dilemma.Recently she developed a small pressure sore that would not heal.So I had to do something.I discovered K 9 on the net and since the video showed the Weimar ,I decided to try your product. So far it is going well .The sore is almost healed and the bed is intact. She is still very energetic and active for an old dog.Thank you for your product.Chris and Lexie.
  • liner not waterproof Review by Sara (Posted on 3/25/2016)
    Overall Quality
My dog does love this crate pad, it's a very nice density of foam and the ripstop cover is great. It has been a year and she still hasn't chewed on it. However, recently she had an accident in her crate and while the ripstop cover is certainly water resistant temporarily, the liner did very little to assist and the foam padding was completely soaked. On top of that, after being washed the liner is now completely frayed. Overall I love the padding and cover, but considering the price I am extremely disappointed in the liner.

I have 5 Pit Bulls ranging in weight from 30 lbs to 75lbs and all but 2 of them are relentless chewers. (They they can go through a "indestructible Kong" in about 3 days) I have purchased several beds, mats, etc for their crates that they just mangle. I purchased 3 of these beds for my loveable chewers. They arrived in approximately a week and they have been in their crates for almost 3 weeks and so far, no chewing! I'm ecstatic! I can't believe I finally found something that they're not chewing. (Not that they they CAN'T, they're NOT) One happy pit bull mom right here!!

My Clumber Spaniel and 1 year old yellow lab share a large crate. The Clumber is a lounge lizard, who sleeps/lays in her crate all of the time! They must talk! ;)
  • No Signs of Chewing Review by Harold (Posted on 3/21/2016)
    Overall Quality
Well, it's been about two weeks and so far there is no sign of chewing the pad. I bought two, one small for a bench crate and the next size up for a floor crate, shared by two Labradoodles. I'm not sure they even recognize that the pad could be pulled out and gnawed on, but that's a good thing. The acid test comes over the next week or two since we just got rid of the "chewable" blanket that was all over the carpet and in the way most of the time. The dogs will use the crates but often just sleep on the leather sectional anyway, so it's a "sometimes" thing.

I am the owner of a 135lbs two year old Cane Corso who loves to destroy pads. I originally bought the Tuff crate pad and it withstood the test of time. So I decided to upgrade to the Orthopedic tuff crate pad for his comfort. My dog destroyed it within days. I notified K9 Ballistics of the damaged pad and they promptly replaced the pad with no problems. I am glad to say that the new pad is still in intact and my dog appreciates the more comfortable pad.

Thanks for honoring your guarantee. I will definitely recommend this company to friends and family.

I don't know how much I have to offer to properly review this product.. When we're gone or if our Lab isn't under our constant supervision we remove the bed from his crate. We have a 2nd crate in the bedroom. At bedtime we move/put the bed in that crate. The second he tries to rip it up, we take it out of his crate.
  • Not sure how "TUFF" it really is Review by Chris (Posted on 3/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
I ordered this bed, came in about 5 business days. After 2 days of my dog sleeping on it, he ripped the corner and tore out some of the Orthopedic mattress. I requested a warranty "Tuff Shell" and it arrived in about 5 days. After 2 days of both the new and old "Tuff Shells"stacked on top of each other, my dog ripped a hole through both shells and dismantled the rest of the mattress pad that was left. The idea is great, however I believe that the material should be changed to actually make it "Chew Proof". It was no way chew proof for my 7month old 40LB Siberian Husky

  • Tough Enough for a Vizsla Review by Jax (Posted on 3/15/2016)
    Overall Quality
We got this bed as our 2 year old Vizsla is a chewer. He will destroy "super tough" chew toys in basically minutes. He knows how to just grind his back molars against anything, fabric, rubber, ect... and he'll eventually destroy it.

So far we've had this k9ballistics bed in his cage when we are away during the day for work and he hasn't chewed it at all! We've checked in on him via video cameras when we're away and he's never even tried to chew it, he is always just snoozing away. The bed feels very comfortable & the very first day we put it down he immediately came over to it and laid down! Lol

So far so good. Our hyper-anxious lab has not managed to rip it. This is our second K9 ballistics product. The first for his car crate is still in one piece after several months. Of course, for insurance, we have a sacrificial beach towel in the crate so he has something to rip up, and we spray it periodically with bitter apple. We are happy customers--and our 6 year old lab has a little padding between him and the hard plastic crate bottom.

This is the ONLY crate pad that I have purchased and has SURVIVED the German Shepherd K9 crate test. Hannah (12 month old) scratched at it the first two times she was in the crate for no more than a minute and gave up. She has not attempted to destroy it since and realizes now how comfortable it really is for her.I waited four weeks before I wrote this review but all is fine. Great product!!

In one day Dexter managed to eat through cover and mattress. The cover is covered in 90 day warranty but bed is not. So basically I'm out of $119.00
    K9 BALLISTICS RESPONSE -
We're sorry your dog managed to damage the bed! In these cases we recommend either double bagging the mattress with the replacement cover and the original cover. You can also apply the value of the warranty to the purchase of a Cujo Cot, our Aluminum framed dog bed. This cot style bed is guaranteed against chewing damage for 120 days and was designed especially for persistent chewers.

My 10 month old, 90 lb German Shepherd loves his new bed. 'Gage' was a bit reluctant to enter his crate until my wife crawled into the crate with him. Then my youngest son joined the party. Since then he has been very happy. He has not chewed through the Orthopedic TUFF outer covering and continues to enjoy his crate. Very pleased with my purchase.

I am so glad I Googled chew proof crate bedding to find K9 ballistics. My 2, year old dachshunds within a day or so have shredded every bed and blanket I've given them. Each doggie has a crate so each one needed a pad. I am so pleased they have not clawed, chewed or torn up these very sturdy covers and pads. The TUFF crate pads look as new as the day I began using them. I highly recommend this crate pad!

My 8mo old Cane Corso managed to flip this pad over and open the velcro, removing and destroying the bed inside. Customer service was excellent and I was sent a new bed and second cover. I was told that by putting a pad with a cover upside down inside another cover, the dog would be unable to repeat this feat. However, the second time around he chewed a hole in the corner of the bed within an hour of being crated. I have given up on trying to use this crate pad until he matures.

I finally found a product that my rat terrier doesn't (can't) tear up in his crate. After many dog pillows, towels, crate mats, I bought Jack a crate mat from K9 Ballistics in November 2015. To this day, it hasn't been shredded. It looks like it did when I removed it from the packaging. Best mat ever bought. Thank you, K9 Ballistics!

I like the pad very much. It is a perfect fit and my puppies had a few accidents and I was able to get the water up and wipe off the pad with Lysol wipes and it was good to go. My puppies love chewing so I give them chews to keep them busy. One pup tries to dig and so far the pad is not damaged. Well worth the money.

I have had the circular tuff beds for several years now, and LOVE them. They have held up to my large, destructive dogs really well. I don't know why I hadn't thought of getting a crate pad before but now I'm so glad I got one. My dog actually gets in his crate just to hang out now that it has the tuff crate pad in there. I used to have to bribe him with sausages to go in his crate!

My yellow lab outgrew her original crate at 7 months. Found your web site looking for a pad to fit her new wire crate. The pad fits perfectly and she loves her new bed. I love that I can clean the pad with a damp cloth but since I have not tried to machine wash it yet, I can't comment on that aspect. The quality of the pad and cover is excellent and I really am glad that I purchased them both.

I have a pit/lab/collie mix. He has chewed and wripped everything that has been put in his crate...up until now! It's only been about 2 weeks, but so far, he hasn't chewed through this bed. I did put a blanket down first, then I wrapped the bed in another blanket (this also cuts down on the "noise"-which isn't really a problem at all) and then put another blanket down loosely on top so he can paw and dig and make himself comfortable. He seems to like it and think it's very comfortable - he goes in it right away when I want him to!
I was going to get the bed with the softer cover, but I'm glad I didn't. He probably would have tried much more to chew that one!
Excellent so far! I recommend it highly!

I am writing out of concern for anyone who was trying to solve the same problem as I was, a dog that tears apart anything in it's crate when my girlfriend and I leave. I received this pad, with so called TUFF material, took it out of the package, put it in my puppy's crate, put her in and left. I came home to find a whole chewed through on the very first try! My 6 month old standard poodle (nicknamed the piranha) chews everything, including me. After he went through 4 beds, 2 of which lasted for the last 8 years for my older poodle, I decided ballistic sounded good. Yes, pricey. But I was desperate. I had to buy him a larger crate and it was time for another bed. I read the reviews and noted the one about the embroidery of the name, but who can resist having a name on a beloved dog's bed?? I got the bed and was impressed by the strength of the fabric. I put it together and put it in his crate. Of course, the first thing he went for was the embroidery! So I turned it around so the stitching for now is at the back. He attempted to pull it out several times, but didn't succeed. Now it's a fixture and he doesn't bother with it. I will agree with one review which says it's loud. It is not muffling like a pillow type bed would be. Aside from that..........Love it!!

We just received this product and our Boerboel puppy warmed right up to it. We are still in the crate training phase so it is partitioned off a bit, but he adapted well to the crate we already owned and our puppy seems to be sleeping quite well on it when in the crate. It definitely seems well worth the investment.

I all honesty of luv how much this bed has made me feel - I'm a German Shepherd pup... It made me feel comfortable and calm when I use it in my crate... However, I did need to have my owners get another one sent out to us because I tore the first one to pieces in 15 minutes of first getting put into my crate with it. Other than the Chew-Proof part this is phenomenal..

Let me tell you!! I have a great dane puppy, 120 lbs so far, and she had chewed and scratched up at least 10 dog beds, some of them with in a day or two. It was to a point I had just given up and was letting her sleep on the crate floor, but that only lasted 2 nights before I felt bad and I knew I needed something! This bed is bullet proof! She chewed and scratched it for the first few nights, NO DAMAGE!! Now she loves going in her crate to sleep and has given up on shredding this bed!! Im So stoked!! • Solution to all Your Problems! Review by Greta (Posted on 1/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have a blue heeler mix who is not even a year old yet! We have gone through at least 6 dog beds that she has just torn to pieces within the first couple days of ownership! So I decided to give this bed a shot, it's a win/win situation, you either get a bed that works, or get your money back, why not try? We received our bed approximately 3 weeks ago and there isn't even a SIGN of a hole, I don't even think she tries anymore! This bed is brilliant! The opening on the outside cover is like a pillow sham, where you have to shove half of it in then the other half, so there is no zipper visible to the dog! Also, on top of the outer cover, the pad itself has a cover around it as well! So win #1 was the fact that my dog hasn't chewed it yet. Win #2, she is still working on potty training so occasionally she'll go pee in the crate, the crate cover keeps the pee from soaking through to the pad, AND keeps the smell from doing the same. The pad and the pad cover don't smell like pee and have NEVER gotten wet. So it's just as simple as removing the outer cover, washing it, and boom! I am so impressed with this bed, and I recommend you give it a shot! Although it can be considered a little pricey, it's worth every penny (plus we paid more in the 6 previous beds combined then we would have if we would have found this first). Finally, our dog LOVES the bed, she'll even lay in it when we're just lounging around (my other dog tries to sneak in there too). Also, if you have the issue where you place a crate divider in the crate to make it smaller (that's what we do), the pad slides straight under the divider, so no issue there either! AMAZING BED! Saves you the headache!

I recently bought 2 of the small Orthopedic Tuff Crate Pads. I was surprised to see that a small fits a 400 crate. They are perfect. They are a tight fit with my wire crates in my truck.

I have two labs, one who is a digger, everything ends up in a pile. With these pads he is leaving them alone!! I think it is smart that they fit tight in the crate.

I bought orthopedic because one lab has elbow dysplasia and I think he should have the padding. The other lab is a tall pup that I train and compete in Retriever Hunt Tests and frankly with his size, it seems like preventative medicine. So both dogs are in their crates for quite awhile when training and competing. So the added padding is great.

They are water resistant, not waterproof. So far not an issue. I dry my guys with a towel before they are put back in the crate.

They are doing a superb job! Frankly, I think they are a good price as well. I have seen other for quite a bit more money. A steal!!

My dog had holes in the corners and along the sides in six hours, we pulled it from the kennel immediately and requested the additional cover offered through warranty. even with both covers on he has chewed through into the mattress. My puppy hasn't even nicked this bed in the time he would've completely gutted any other. I'm very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone with a chewing dog like mine. The bed isn't "cozy", it's true, but the cozy ones don't last 3 days in my house. If you could make one that is thicker and has a softer cover, I'd be super excited. But, what you're providing is better than anything else I've bought so I'm not complaining.

It is really comfortable too. Thanks for making me a believer.

We bought this bed as a Christmas present for our Great Dane, we gave it to her a couple days early because she destroyed her "Kong" bed. She likes to remove the stuffing. Today is the 5th of January and she has chewed a baseball sized hole on one side and a quarter size hole on the other side. I was hoping she would get bored of chewing on it, but apparently we will just have to add this to the ever growing list of false claims of chewproof.

  • Sheena proof! Review by Daktari (Posted on 1/4/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have had many dogs, mostly rescued after they were abandoned out here in the country. I have never experienced any creature as destructive as Sheena a one year old Great Dane/ Catahoula (as best anyone can guess.). She can demolish a hog femur in minutes. She has chewed the metal dryer vent off the side of the house, metal chair legs, a license plate. Anything wood or plastic in the garage that she can reach is now confetti. She is confined at night and a conventional kennel pad doesn't last a day. We gave up after the third bed until we googled K-9. It is week three and the bed is showing no signs of damage. I would not have believed it nor would I have wasted more money on a bed for this dog without the K-9 guarantee. The bed is high quality and Sheena seems very comfortable. If you have a nut case like Sheena, bite the bullet and spend the money. It is worth it.

Abbie, our 65 lb female boxer, developed a large callous on her front elbow from time spent in her crate that began to get raw, so we thought a bed would be the answer. She completely shredded the first two beds (total over $100!). We then tried a blanket, same results. Knowing something had to be done to keep the injury from getting worse, I Googled ‘indestructible dog bed’ and came up with K9 Ballistics. The Orthopedic TUFF Crate Pad has been ‘Abbie proof’ so far and her callous began to improve almost immediately. The only concern is with the embroidered stitching, which she is slowly pulling out. THANKS K9 Ballistics!!

  • So Far, So Good! Review by Debra L (Posted on 12/30/2015)

We rescued Krissy (German Pointer/Pit) from the pound in September. She's a year old now. In that time she has destroyed two plastic trays in her kennel which we finally replaced with a tiled plywood floor, she then destroyed the metal kennel eating her way through it and breaking pieces off. She now has a kennel that looks more like we have a lion for a pet instead of a dog. She's bent some of the wires which are very heavy gauge, but so far it keeps her in. She has shredded any blanket we put in. We purchased a Kong bed since she hasn't been able to destroy their toys, but in less than an hour, she had it shredded and all the stuffing out. While skeptical, we decided to invest in the K9 Ballistics pad. We've had it for a few weeks using it outside her kennel, but have only put her in her kennel with it once for about an hour or so. Surprisingly, expecting the worst, we could see where she had tried to pull it up, but on close examination she wasn't even able to even puncture it!!! We are hopeful!!!! She still eats everything she can get in her mouth, but so far, not this pad!!!!

Our 1 year old red-tri Aussie is still a voracious chewer - he tore a piece off a rubber Kong Black (for extreme chewers) toy in 3 minutes, not to mention all the other things he has destroyed in record time. He has not been able to have a soft bed or blanket in his crate up until we tried this Ortho Tuff Crate Pad a few weeks ago. When we first put it in the crate he tried once to chew it and then gave up and hasn't bothered with it since. It is still in excellent condition, and we are all so happy that he has a soft place to sleep. It also keeps the crate much quieter when he rolls around during the night. THANK YOU, K9 Ballistics!!!!

We have a 2 year old lab that has destroyed over $500 worth in bedding. This is the first bedding that has held up to her. I would recommend though, if your dog likes to pick at things, to not get it embroidered. That was the one thing she was able to get at and start pulling up. Other than that, it's a great product and easy to clean too.

They didn't seem as thick as I'd expected, but after a full 3 or so days they've expanded to their full size and are more what I'd hoped. So far so good, and the 11 mos. old hasn't chewed on them! Nice as they are, they still seem a tad expensive for me for the thickness. If they were bit less pricey I'd give a full 5 stars for quality!
  • Very high quality, but a bit noisy Review by Steve (Posted on 12/17/2015)
    Overall Quality
We just received our Orthopedic TUFF Crate Pad, and I am impressed with the quality and durability of the cover. It is clear that this was made to last a long time. The only drawback is that it makes a lot of noise when the dog moves around on it, and he seems a bit nervous about it. I now see that K9 also offers an Orthopedic TUFF *Velvet* Crate Pad which has a soft cover that is much quieter as well. In retrospect, I probably should have gotten that one.

I've been looking for a bed that would last more than 1 day with my two Rottweilers so I saw the videos and it looked promising, I purchased the crate pads and it didn't last one night!!!! I can say that the 90 day guarantee was very easy and they were very prompt in the response and gave me a few tips on hopefully !!! Keeping those crate pads in tact ... I would still recommend this product but think about it long and hard if you have Rottweilers! Lol

I can not say enough about this bed!! Twila, our 4 month old lab that is teething, has gone through 3 of Kong "indestructible" beds. She gave up on trying to chew on it after she found that it was useless, and was not going to get to the mattress. Again, I can not say enough about this bed! It is so nice to have a NICE orthopedic pad in her crate again :)

Bought the orthopedic crate pad and love it. Easy to clean, vaccum and wipe with a wet cloth. Our 7 month old puppy chewed up two beds previous to this one. One of them she had a hole chewed through it within hours of purchasing it. This one we have had for over a week and she has shown no interest in wanting to chew it at all. Praying it stays that way!
  • Should have purchased sooner! Review by Kelly (Posted on 12/3/2015)

During his first year, my lab mix (a rescue) has eaten two dog bed covers and the dog bed. We have had the Tuff Crate Pad for a couple of weeks now and he actually just lays on it instead of trying to tear it up! Hurray! We would have saved considerable money if we had just bought this in the first place. It fits his crate perfectly. My dog spends a lot of time in his crate (with the door open) because he chooses to - this pad is the perfect addition to his crate - he loves it and so do we!
  • Should have purchased sooner!! Review by Taylor (Posted on 11/22/2015)

I am kicking myself for not purchasing these beds sooner. I have a lab who like to eat beds (and clothing) because of separation anxiety. I was skeptical of K-9 beds and the price tag was a bit higher than I wanted to pay for Bentley the destroyer. I purchased two, a large and x-large, and my old boys LOVE them. Completely waterproof, no signs of chewing, and they just lounge around all day on their new beds. I have a senior lab and senior mastiff and these are perfect for their old bones. Whould highly recommend these beds to anyone with a chewer. The extra money is so worth it!

We received our orthopedic crate pad last week and our 18 month of Golden Loves it! She is very high energy and chews everything we purchase that is fabric and soft. So far, she has had no interest in chewing the pad. I can also tell she is enjoying the comfort while laying in the cage at night. Superb product! We are planning on buying a bed for the house as well.

We have been through many beds with my Rottweiler puppy. We had given up entirely and just had her sleep on the plastic bottom of her crate, but now she is an amputee and really needed some cushioning. This is perfect - orthopedic for comfort, so durable she doesn't even try to chew it, and, as a bonus, it is very quick and easy to clean.

So far, Trex has not chewed up the bed, he tried on one corner but gave up when he couldn't destroy it. Now if I could find a blanket to cover him that was chew proof, it would be great. He has to have a blanket, for he is an undercover baby. Do love that he can't chew the bed for he had knee surgery and needs the support.

We just got a wonderful rescue dog and he is going through a phase where he is chewing on everything. We went through countless toys and finally he got to his crate bed. Thanks to the reviews already here, I bought this bed and thought the added bonus was the orthopedic component as our pup is a tripod. It's worked out GREAT! He loves it, can't destroy it and it's great because we will often give him a frozen kong with yogurt in it and any leaks clean up nicely. Highly recommend it!!

Excellent quality of craftsmanship. There are no loose fibers for 2 six month old puppies to chew at. I liked the fact that there is easy clean up if need be. I feel confident that these puppies have met their match. Pricey but if it lasts longer then a month, well worth it. I would highly recommend this product.
  • Easy Clean up! Review by Naomi (Posted on 10/19/2015)
    Overall Quality
I chose this bed because of the water resistant cover and water proof inner lining. I have found that it is super easy to clean up when my dog has accidents in his crate and it isn't destroying the inner portion of his bed, which is what happened to his previous bed. My only complaint would be that the foam pad is a little thin for my dog (he is tall & skinny) and it would have been nice to have options on the thickness of the pad, but I just add a few extra blankets on top, and he is good.

This is the second bed that I bought. The first one was a thinner bad that my dog could chew through anything he didn't see through that one. Now I bought him a thicker more comfortable bed and he loves it. This company has been that will last a long time with dog that can see through anything like mine. He still hasn't been able to chew through this bed or his other one what a great company I will be buying more when I need one or I should say if I ever need one.
  • Best Bed Yet! Review by Amber (Posted on 10/15/2015)
    Overall Quality
My 1 1/2 year old Doberman has eaten every bed we have bought. We have probably spent over $500 on beds, she even ate through the very expensive Kong "chew proof" bed, so I was hesitant about spending the money on this one.

I think what makes this work is the bed fits the crate we keep her in at night EXACTLY. There are no corners for her to chew, there is no piping or anything sticking up for her to get her teeth on; its just a flat comfortable surface that she loves to lay on. The edges of the bed are up against the crate wall and she has plenty of room to stretch out. I am glad I finally found something she loves and hasn't eaten yet!

I really want to try to raised bed next especially because my lab loves laying on raised beds however my doberman had chewed through two of them of a different brand within hours of having it.

This crate pad wasn't tuff enough for my lab mix pup. She managed to chew through the entire bed within the first week she had it! She's psycho though. k9 Ballistics was SO GOOD to me and sent me another bed….it was so simple. So i give them 4 stars based on how easy it was to deal with them and how quick we got our replacement bed. So far, little Bailey hasn't chewed through the new one (probably because I overlapped the old cover and the new one). Thanks k9 ballistics!!!!!

We have two rescued bull terriers who are not quite 2 years old and are still on a crate and rotate arrangement.

We love, your crate beds! We started with one for our “bed destroyer”. Before we found K9BALLISTICS, he destroyed three very high quality beds, within two weeks. He gave the K9 a couple of digs and settled down. We bought a smaller one for his car crate. (A real problem area.) Same results. Most recently we purchased a K9 for our other BT, who prefers fuzzy bedding. He is recouperating from knee surgery and we wanted something cushioned, with gentle support, and easy to wipe clean. He loves it! We throw in a couple of lightweight blankets in for pushing around. Because we can wipe it off with a wet cloth sprayed with Nature’s Miracle, the K9 does not start to smell like dog feet after two uses. But if we need to, we can wash it.

We have 2 dogs. One is older and was having hip problems so we heard about the K9 Ballistics bed and ordered one. She loves her new bed. Before we would put sheets and blankets in her crate to lay on but she would push it into one corner. She would not use any of the other mats because they got too hot. This bed covers the whole crate and stays cool.

Our other dog is still a puppy. She does the same thing with her blankets so we will be buying another bed this week. She keeps sneaking into the older dog's crate to lay on the K9 Ballistics bed.

So far so good for my pup Bailey and her love of chewing on beds. She loves finally having a bed to sleep on again after she chewed up her old bed the day I bought it from Petco and thankfully she seems to be out of her inappropriate chewing for the time being. So glad I found this product and definitely would recommend it to any owner out there wondering if it's really as advertised. Worth every penny!

I purchased the Orthopedic TUFF Crate Pad on 9/10/15 and after a few days he had pulled out some of the embroidered name (not that big of deal) but today when I got home he had managed to flip the entire bed over and got a hole in the seam right by the velcro. Sent an email to the warranty department just waiting on a response. If it had the same velcro they use to keep this thing together on the bottom to hold it to the plastic tray in the cage i think it would be indestructible for my boxer. Other than that he has been pretty rough with it and so far other than today we were good!
  • Best beds on the market Review by Leon (Posted on 9/25/2015)

This is my third bed from K9 ballistics. I went through 6 or 8 beds from various manufacturers in the first year of having my dog. He destroyed everything I got him, some lasted a little longer than others, but none more than a month or so. I bought the orthopedic bed first for inside the house. He sleeps on that one nightly, and so far, it has lasted about 8 months. He has not damaged it at all. I got him one of the original Tuff beds that I keep outside and it has made it 6 months and is holding up beautifully. I just purchased the orthopedic Tuff crate pad, for his travel crate, and he loves it.
Thanks for making such a great, durable product! I couldn't be happier with the quality or th value.

My german shepherd has eaten and scratched his way through at least 4 crate pads. I like the idea of a guarantee, so, although pricey, decided to give one of Ballistics crate pads a try. It's been a couple of weeks and so far so good.

He scratched at it when he first got it, but, stopped after a few minutes. He has not tried to chew on it, which is amazing!

I am very happy with my purchase.

  • Very disappointing Review by Nathan (Posted on 9/24/2015)

Our 7-month old Basador destroyed this without any trouble - just like many other dog beds we have tried. I think I was more excited to get this bed than he would have been because I was tired of spending money on beds he would destroy. Sure enough, at the 56 minute mark of him having his bed (that's just when I found him with it torn, it could have been quicker), he had torn the corners out and was ripping the orthopedic pad out. I contacted K9 about the 90-day guarantee (90-minute guarantee still wouldn't have even been enough) and their customer service was great. They processed a new "bag" to be sent and it arrived yesterday. As their recommendation, I put both of the covers on the pad so he wouldn't be able to get through two covers. I also soaked the covers in white vinegar and water solution. Within the hour, yet again, he had gone through not one, but two of the covers. I am highly disappointed and will absolutely be wanting my money back. I would not recommend this to anyone who has a dog who chews up their beds.

We have two adopted Bull Terriers. Our new boy chewed through three very high quality beds and a few other things - $600 worth of dog bedding, within a week. One of our boys has knee trouble and must have supportive bedding. We ordered these because the reviews and your guarantee. New guy gave the bed a few scratches and then settled down to chew on his toy. Also, the cover does not harbor odors and can be wet wiped, so we are not washing as often. Great investment. Ordering aa third so we have one in all crate locations.

My chocolate lab had chewed up her blanket that was in her crate, leaving a fluffy mess. She is also known for chewing our baseboards, coffee table and has destroyed one of our couches. This pet bed was a godsend. Not only does she NOT try to destroy it, she will go into her crate without prompting to lay on the bed. The best part? K9 ballistics offers orthopedic mattresses, which means my labs hips and joints will be comforted when she gets old. Thanks K9 ballistics for understanding that dogs who chew also need good beds.
  • No Zippers Review by Dubya (Posted on 9/12/2015)
    Overall Quality
Our dogs always attacked their crate beds at the zipper. They discovered the sewing at this point was the weak link in the construction of the beds and would begin the destruction of the beds at this area. These beds, on the other hand, are designed without a zipper. Upon placing these beds in the dog's crates, they examined them, looking for the zipper. When no zippers were found, our dogs have left the beds alone and now simply enjoy the comfort of laying on the orthopedic beds. And we, thankfully, hopefully, will not have to continue to buy new crate beds every 6 - 8 weeks. Thank you for a nicely designed bed.

Over the past 20 years we have had many wonderful dogs (and a few not so wonderful) who have chewed their way through probably twice as many dog beds, cushions and crate pads. Our current pair of Shelties appeared to be no exception--until we tried your crate pad. We gave this one to our "Chewer in Chief" who sniffed it thoroughly, then tentatively stepped on it, settled down comfortably, and has been that way ever since. The pad is very tough but apparently comfortable enough to satisfy the fussiest of dogs, does not attract and accumulate dog hair or any other type of canine debris, and is very easy to keep clean. We are about to order a second pad for our "Chewer in Training".
    Thank you K9ballistics.

Our 7 month old Malinois LOVES his new Orthopedic Tuff Crate Pads. He is not chewing on them, never resists going into his crate, does not shift positions as frequently as before, and the covers don't appear to make him "overheat" like he has on other mats we have tried. He, and we could not be happier! We now have two, one in the bedroom and one in the living room....we will likely purchase one more for his travel crate in the car.

Big bonus for us....it's MUCH quieter when he's working on bones in his crate, particularly at night when we are trying to sleep !

After my GSP chewed through two crate pads, I resorted to a hard, heavy rubber mat. Feeling bad about her "comfort level", I went on another search and found this product from K9. She absolutely loves it and no rips...no tears...still intact after several weeks. My dog has probably gone through her chewing stage though. I haven't witnessed her scratching at the Ortho pad either. Still....I can be rest assured, she is getting the ultimate comfort when she needs to be in the crate when I'm out of the house.

My husband and I are Doberman Pinscher people. We've had 6 Dobies, and have purchased K9-Ballistics products for them. We recently took in a small, very stressed out 17 month old female from DPRPA. I purchased an Orthopedic Tuff Crate Pad, which she immediately lay on. I went around to the other side of the room to unload the dishwasher and realized it was very quiet. I walked back to where Jada's crate was, and my jaw just dropped. In less than 15 minutes, she'd managed to rip a corner of the cover and was blissfully shredding the interior pad. Thank goodness for K9-Ballistics 90 Day 1 Time Replacement Warranty. K9-Ballistics promised to send another cover. In the interim time, they moved to a larger location; but kept in touch with me by mail so that I would know that K9-Ballistics hadn't forgotten me. The Warranty cover arrived, along with several helpful tips regarding the cover. It's a pleasure doing business with a company like K9-Ballistics. They stand behind their product. I gave them a 4 for quality. They probably deserved a 5. Jada is like a delicate cheetah.

Very skeptical over the claims made by the manufacturers after our amazingly strong and persistent Bull Terrier 6 month old terror had already destroyed a very tough blanket and a bed within a week. What a marvel the Tuff pad is. We got the more heavily padded one and doubted it could withstand the constant attacking the puppy was into. Once she realized that she couldn't make any headway in ripping, tearing, biting folding over, getting under, etc., she has left it alone and sleeps peacefully on it. Few products seem to live up to their hype, but this one really does for us. If you want the real indestructible bed, spend the money and you won't regret it.

We ordered the large for our great dane that weighs 100 lbs. and it is a great fit for her crate. She chewed it up the first 2 days and we got a new one sent to us, so we doubled up and sprayed it with bitter spray and after that we haven't had any problems. She hates being left so that's not the pad's fault!! It's the best we've ever found!
  • THE Best Review by Sherry and The Heeler Rescues (Posted on 6/28/2015)
    Overall Quality
These pads are amazing. I bought the original Tuff Bed after my first rescue ACD mix destroyed several beds while I was at work. With the Tuff Bed, not only did any sort of chewing come to an abrupt halt, but the bed still launders up and looks like new after some hard service. Plus the dog just thinks it was the most heavenly bed he's ever slept on and loves it. I recently adopted a second rescue (also ACD) and she promptly destroyed the pad that came in the crate I had on hand. So, I ordered two of these Orthopedic Tuff Pads and they are great. No more chewing and the dogs are comfy. I'm sure they will launder up as marvelously as the first pad I bought. Will soon order crate pads for the smaller travel crates. Don't waste your money on cheap beds to be chewed up---buy only K9 Ballistic pads!
  • Amazing Product! Review by Emily (Posted on 6/22/2015)

I was skeptical. I have a 17 month old Cane Corso that has shredded any and every bed/blanket/toy that has ever entered her crate. She grips whatever it is with massive paws and tugs and rips at it with her teeth until it is unrecognizable. I was tired of spending money on pads that just got destroyed over and over. I am glad, so glad, that I went with this product. The 90 Day guarantee is really what sold me as the price seemed a little much compared to other crate pads. I figured, worst case, they'd at least get me another one when she destroyed the first one. I am confident I will never have to deal with the guarantee process now as this product is better than I could have imagined. Worth it at twice the price for her comfort and never having to worry about finding a replacement.

Our dogs have not made even a dent in these pads. We have a lab/border collie mix and a mastiff/shepherd/boxer mix. Both are 6 month old puppies. They chew and destroy EVERYTHING and we have lost several hundred dollars on large sized crate pads and fluffy pet beds from the big box pet stores. K9 Ballistics crate pads are a terrific investment. We look forward to buying more pet beds from K9 Ballistics in the future.

My dog, a cane corso, is a power chewer. I have been looking for a crate insert so he would not be laying on metal of the crate. After reading the reviews, i decided to give K9 ballistics a shot. And for a price of $109, I assumed it could stand the test. I assembled the crate pad and crated the dog before going to the gym. It hadnt been 2 hours and he completely chewed off a corner and took the foam out. its disappointing to know this product did not work for my dog and that the refund was only for 50%.
  • Excellent Product but our adopted dogs need training, time and love Review by Valorie (Posted on 5/17/2015)
    Overall Quality
WE loved the beds and had purchased 2 of them. We put them in the crates but sadly within a 2 hour window one of the dogs had a corner chewed. These two dogs are dogs we had just adopted and both are labs. We don't know the history of either one and they are estimated to be about 2 years old. They were found wandering and turned into a local dog officer. After 7 days no one claimed them so we adopted. They both were very anxious and extremely excitable. We have had them now for approx. 2 months and we are seeing them adjust to a new life with stability. They both are showing signs of calming down and doing very well with training. We removed both beds after the one was chewed thru. We are going to ask for a replacement with the culprits picture. The next time we put them in the crates we are going to keep them under close supervision so that we can teach them not to chew on them. It takes time and patience but they are so worth it and so are the beds.

We purchased two of these beds for our dogs. I am very impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of the beds we received. For one of our dogs the bed has been wonderful. She seems to find it comfortable and there have been no issues. Unfortunately, our other dog chewed through the cover in a day. However, I do not think there is a product out there he would not destroy. I contacted K9 Ballistics and they sent a replacement immediately. I believe this will be good for car trips and vacations so we will still get use out of it, but it simply will not work for crating. For most dogs I believe this would be a wonderful product and well worth the cost.

My 11 month old lab has been using this bed for about 2 weeks and I must say, I am really happy with this bed. I was a bit skeptical about ordering this bed, since she has chewed her way through every zipper and cover I have purchased so far. I was ready to give up until she got older, but decided to give it one last try. There are 2 things I really like about this dog bed. The first is no zippers. The flap is on the bottom, so nothing is visible. The second thing I like is the bed has a snug fit in the crate. She has tried several times to pull the bed out of the crate and can't quite do it. At this point, I am giving the bed a high rating, but I will review it again if any issues arise.

I have a 7 month old rescue who loves to chew and recently started having trouble with crate training. She seems to like the bed but didn't last long, she had a whole in it on day 1. Although she likes it, I sort of regret spending this much money on a dog bed.... it only has that one whole in it for now!
  • Great crate pad, great company Review by Emily (Posted on 4/8/2015)
    Overall Quality
My puppy is a particularly persistent chewer. We couldn't even put a kennel liner in her kennel for a while because she would tear up the fabric and ingest it, and it became a danger to her health! She did manage to chew through the slip cover within a few days, however she was only able to make a small hole at the corners which was a great alternative to the damage she was doing before with previous liners. Also, when I emailed the company about getting a replacement, they answered within 1 day, and had my replacement shipped out in 3, along with helpful tips on how to prevent chewing. I was so impressed with their customer service. They don't make you jump through hoops in order to qualify for the guarantee, just email a simple picture of damages with your name and address--you don't even need to mail the original back. So convenient! My other dog is more of a moderate chewer, but she destroyed 2 cotton liners from a different company before we found this one. Since we purchased this pad, she has not chewed through it and it looks great! I also love that the cover velcros on and off, and both the pad and cover are machine washable. My puppy has accidents every once in a while and in the past it has been a disaster, often we had to throw out the old liners because they would wear so badly in the wash. It was such an easy clean up with this pad, and it comes our looking good as new!

Our golden doodle LOVES to chew up dog beds and has successfully managed to destroy every bed we put in his crate UNTIL we bought the orthopedic tuff crate pad. He has had this bed in his crate for about 2 weeks now and has not managed to put any holes in it but not for lack of trying though. We love the quality and durability of this bed. If I had to pick one downfall it would be that it was not as thick as I had pictured but it fits the crate perfectly. It's really nice that it's waterproof and is easily cleaned with a damp cloth. I give this bed an A+!! Thanks K9 Ballistics for helping us!!

My 10 month old Vizsla is not a terrible chewer but has developed a taste for cotton and fleece fabric so I decided to buy her a bed made out of stronger material that she wouldn't be interested in eating. After 1 hour in her crate with her new bed (sprayed with Ballistic Bitter Spray) she still managed to dig a dime sized hole in the bed. Not sure if there was a defect in the fabric that allowed her to make the hole. She has never done anything like that before. Usually just likes to chew soft fabric beds. The bed is well made. I definitely can't flip it over though because of the label on the back. She will never leave the tag alone until she can get it off.

I love my Ripstop Crate Pad and Cover! I have two one year old red bone hound dogs. Cricket loved to chew up any bed we got her for the first year of her life. I always had stuffing all over the floor or shreds of old carpeting. I finally put her in the crate with no pad at all. We bought the ripstop crate pad in blue and she did manage to chew a tiny hole in one corner. K-9 ballistics sent a new cover very quickly and she has not even tried to chew it .! This is by far a superior product. I can vacuum it and wipe it down with a rag which you cannot do to most covers . I certainly recommend this product to everyone even if your dog does not chew!

Had this crate pad for about 20 days before the 9 month old golden doodle chewed through it. I figured for $80 it would have lasted a bit longer. The dog seemed to love it however. I am going through the warranty now so I will update once they get back to me.

After our German Shepherd pup chewed through a memory foam type bed, and started chewing through blankets, we needed a durable bed that he wouldn't chew through. We find this bed, and ordered and our pup tried to chew it a few times but then got disinterested because I guess it was too tough to destroy to him. Now we are glad we found a bed that will give our dog some comfort in his kennel and that he is not interested in tearing up! If we get another dog in the future I will probably get the bed from here! Very happy with it!

It took a long time to find a bed w/ a pad, that is removable to wash and made of quality material. I bought 2 of these for my older labs, but then my 7 month lab puppy "granddog" stayed with us for a week. She destroy one of the pads by attacking the velcro enclosure and chewed up the ortho pad inside. My dogs are older and don't chew their beds, I bought another one. Quality, material and construction are all a 5 star, but price is a 3 star overall I would say 4 stars

My power chewer 1 year old terrier mix destroyed two of the ripstop covers (original and replacement), each within less than 24 hours even with bitter apple spray. A nicely made product, I would recommend it for an average dog. If you have a power chewer skip straight to the cujo cot and save yourself some time. Four stars for a good product but again, don't bother if you have a persistent chewer!

I purchased two beds that fit perfect in their crates. I have been through numerous beds because of them digging at the fabric. The Polly fill is extremely dangerous if ingested. Love this product and company!

    Overall Quality
After months of trying to find a dog bed my 80-pound doberman pinscher puppy wouldn't immediately destroy, I ordered K-9 Ballistics' Cujo Cot with a vinyl surface. After Raven became used to climbing on it, he adapted to resting on it on hot summer days, and made no attempt to chew any part of it. Encouraged by this success, I ordered a Round TUFF Bed with a ballistic nylon cover. Amazingly he no longer tried to remove it from his Dogloo house and has made no attempt to chew it. I washed the cover for the first time today and was delighted to find the pad completely dry and odor-free and the cover is still perfect! I had purchased a Tuff Orthopedic Crate Pad two weeks ago (he sleeps in his crate in my bedroom at night) and the cover washed up perfectly as well. My only complaint is that I spent a lot of money on unsatisfactory products before I tried yours. Congratulations on designing and executing quality dog products! I'm a believer and won't ever buy dog beds from anyone else.

I've had a K9 ortho bed for almost 2 years now. It's held up incredible well. My Doberman loves to scratch before settling down to sleep. I can tell this crate pad is going to hold up just as well, and it fits the crate perfectly without taking up to much space. This is a great addition to the K9 product assortment. I think it's going to be very popular

Details

90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee
Orthopedic comfort and support, right in your dog's favorite crate, kennel, or automobile. This bed features 2 inches of high quality foam to offer additional support and comfort over other crate pads. The top 1 inch layer of memory foam gently curves to your dog's unique shape to offer perfect comfort. The bottom 1 inch of support foam uses a denser foam which prevents your dog from sinking through the memory foam to the hard floor, a common problem with inexpensive memory foam dog crate pads.

The proprietary Ripstop Crate Pad cover resists chewing and scratching behavior and features Ripstop technology which helps prevent small tears from becoming a big mess in the living room. We hid the brand logo on the underside of the bed beside the Velcro closure. Using industrial strength Velcro protects your dog from "zipper distraction", which can also lead to big messes in the living room. The Velcro is incredibly strong and helps prevent your dog from nibbling at the mattress foam. Dogs who previously chewed through their beds will meet their match in this crate pad, which will tucker them out until they finally fall asleep on the pad. If your dog chews through bricks and doors, we recommend the Cujo Cot. All other dogs will find the Orthopedic Crate Pad to be a little slice of heaven right in their crate.

The Ripstop cover resists water and moisture to help parents clean up after their fur babies. Most messes can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth. The cover can also be machine washed on a gentle cycle to help clean up after incontinence issues. The valuable foam mattress is protected by a water-resistant liner which can also be machine washed. Please note that the foam pad cannot be machine washed under any circumstances, as it will damage the foam.

If your dog does manage to damage the Ripstop cover, just send us a picture of the damage. We'll replace the cover in accordance with our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee. Go on, your dog deserves it.

We now offer the Chill Pad insert to help keep your dog cool!

Moderate Chewers & Scratchers

Built K9 Tough, resisting 90% of chewing dogs, good for almost any dog. Backed by our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee, these are the bed covers our business was built on. Velcro closures replace zippers (bolstered beds have one hidden zipper on the back) and prevent emergency zipper related veterinary visits. Reduced seams and strategic seam placement reduce weak spots and if our proprietary TUFF flex Ballistic material wasn’t tough enough, we've upgraded it with Rip-Stop technology! These covers are water resistant, odor resistant, hair resistant, and machine washable. These are some of the most practical and long lasting beds available anywhere.

TUFF COVER™ TECHNOLOGY

ripstop tuff cover for dog beds

RipStop Ballistic Material™

The chew-proof ballistic material with rip-stop tech avoids tears, and prevents growth if they start. It is just one more detail that makes these beds tough as nails (and tougher than teeth!)

velcro dog bed

Velcro Enclosure

Our TUFF bed’s industrial strength Velcro closures are hidden on the underside of the mattress covers to prevent the urge to try and chew it. By using Velcro we remove the danger of an exposed plastic or metal zipper which can be an attractive place to start chewing.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reinforced Seams

We're proud to say our interior seams are double stitched and surged. This prevents snags, fraying, and damage from chewing.

Additionally we include a layer of material at the bed's corners. Corners are the first things to go when a dog decides to start chewing. By reinforcing this weak point, we greatly increase the life of the bed.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reduced Seam Construction

Right after corners, seams are the weak spots which dogs exploit most frequently in beds. By reducing the number of seams on a bed fewer temptations present themselves, and therefore reduce the risk of demolition!

water resistant dog bed

Repels Dirt, Hair, and Moisture

Tightly woven synthetic fibers make this bed chew proof, and also resistant to a wide array of other damaging forces. Water, dirt, hair, and muck simply don't cling to the bed and can be easily wiped away; after wiping with a damp cloth the bed often looks as good as new!

machine washable dog beds

Machine Washable

Accidents happen, it's a fact of life; Murphey's law if you will. Having a machine washable dog bed helps clean up those accidents quickly and easily. For those messes that do not wipe away, let the machine washer do the work.

We recommend washing with cold water on a gentle cycle, and then air drying. The heat and friction of a machine dryer could shorten the lifespan of the bed, and we want our products to last as long as possible!

odor resistant dog bed

Synthetic Fibers Resist Odors

The extremely dense synthetic fiber weave of our Ballistic Material not only stops moisture, but also odors! Dirt, grime, and even mold spores have a tough time sticking to the bed cover, and when these elements can't stick around neither can the smell.

odor resistant dog bed

Hypoallergenic Material

Dust mites cause a large number of allergic reactions for dogs. Mold and mildew spores can also trigger allergic reactions. The sythetic fibers used in this cover prohibit dust mite invasions, and make life difficult for mold spores as well. These allergens require organic fibers to build their homes, and this cover uses a 100% synthetic fiber construction. Dust mites beware!

ORTHOPEDIC MATTRESS TECHNOLOGY

High Density Memory Foam

Our orthopedic mattresses are made with two layers of foam: the top 1" layer of high quality memory foam, and the bottom 1" layer of support foam. Our memory foam has a 4.5 lb / sq. ft. density rating.

Other beds which don't use the bottom support layer often settle too quickly and your dog can end up lying on the floor. This negates the benefit of the orthopedic foam! We just couldn't settle for that. We decided to include firm joint support in the base layer and supple comfort in the top layer of memory foam.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Water Resistant Nylon Mattress Liner

The foam mattress is protected by a water resistant nylon cover which keeps the sensitive foam dry and odor free. If you've ever met a dog with incontinence problems then you understand how this extra layer of moisture resistance can be vital.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Joint Support for Large Breeds or Aging Pets

Large dogs often experience joint problems more frequently than smaller dogs, due to their increased size and weight. It isn't fair, but pet owners can proactively fight joint problems with orthopedic pet furniture such as our memory foam dog bed.

Our orthopedic beds can prevent joint problems, ease joint pain that's already begun, or just plain spoil your canine companion.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ballistic Fabric?

Ballistic Fabric is a thick, tough, synthetic material used for a variety of applications. Ballistic fabric was originally developed by the DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets to be worn by World War II airmen. The term ballistic fabric takes its name from the fact that it was intended to protect its wearers from flying debris and fragmentation caused by bullet or artillery shell impacts.

What is memory foam?

Memory foam is designed to immediately conform to your body and relieve pressure. Its great for puppies to help prevent future problems or older dogs that may be suffering form ailments like hip dysplasia. Memory foam quality is measured in pounds per square foot, the heavier the foam the higher the mattress quality. Our memory foam density is rated at 4.5 lbs / sq. ft.

What happened to the zippers?

In our efforts to make our beds the most chew-proof beds possible, we've removed the zippers and replaced them with concealed, industrial strength, Velcro closures on the undersides of the beds. Past versions of our beds had zippers, but thanks to some great feedback from our fine customers, we were able to spot this issue and make the change. Zippers were a weak point that appealed to chewing dogs, it was the first part on the beds that these dogs would go after and that was dangerous. What resulted was a design change that is not only more durable, but a safer product for your dog that reduces the temptation to chew in this area and potentially damage the bed.

What makes your ballistic fabric superior to other bed materials?

Canvas and fabric beds are not chew proof by any means. You have to remember, dogs have been known to chew through materials that you'd never even imagine a dog could chew through. Our military-grade ballistic material is used specifically for it's durability and toughness, which makes for a longer-lasting, chew proof product that outlasts other beds made from inferior materials. Most companies take an off the shelf fabric, one made for furniture or luggage, and use it on a dog bed. We've designed our own fabric built around the function of a dog bed. We've recently upgraded our ballistic material to be Ripstop, which means its now even better at withstanding moderate chewing and scratching. Our fabric is waterproof, so it can withstand rain, outdoor conditions with its UV protection, and pets which may be incontinent. There is nothing on the market that is built better. This is the best option for an all around durable bed. We have paid extreme attention to all the details.

Are your beds really "chew proof"?

To be fair, there's really nothing short of hard metal that is absolutely "chew proof" - dogs have been known to chew through kevlar, wood, bricks, chain link fences and light metals just to name a few! If a dog has the ability and wants to bad enough, they can chew through most materials. However, we advertise our beds as "chew proof", and we stand behind our beds as the most chew proof products available. Ultimately, what makes our beds "chew proof" is not only the materials that we use, but also our 90 Day Chew Proof Warranty!

My dog is a heavy chewer, which bed do you recommend?

The Cujo Cot should be the go to bed for all medium or heavy chewers. With our "No Chew" design, hidden fabric edges, and durable corner covers, and aluminum frame, there is nowhere for dogs to get ahold of the fabric on the bed. Once your dog is conditioned not to chew a TUFF bed or TUFF Bed Crate Pad can be added for extra comfort.

What if my dog does manage to chew up this bed?

We have a 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee on all Original, Round, Orthopedic, Mini TUFF Beds and TUFF Pads. If your dog does manage to chew through one of the TUFF Beds or Orthopedic Tuff Crate Pads within the guarantee period, we'll replace the cover, free of charge. If your dog manages through our TUFF Crate Pads or Mini TUFF Beds, we'll send out a free replacement. We're that confident!

Aren't all dog beds the same? What makes yours so different?

Our beds are actually built to inhibit the dog's ability to chew them. For starters, the covers of our beds are made out of military grade 1680 denier ballistic nylon, the same material worn as body armor by US combat forces! Unlike other beds, our ballistic nylon is far more chew resistant than cloth or other cheap fabrics that can be ripped apart at the seams. We take extra pains to engineer our beds with concealed Velcro closures on the bottom of the beds to minimize the dog's temptation and ability to chew in this area. Rounded corners and solid, well-sewn seams also greatly reduce the possibility of the dog grabbing hold of a weak seam.

What about cleaning the bed?

Our beds are super-easy to clean! First separate the cover from the fill. If the liner is dirty, it can also be removed from the foam and washed. The memory foam insert should NOT be machine-washed, as it can disintegrate inside a washing machine. Close the Velcro on the cover completely before washing. Make sure to wash on delicate and cold. Air dry or line dry are the best way to dry the bed. Heat drying is not recommended. Please note vomit and urine have corrosive properties which can penetrate through the water resistant cover damaging the inner fill. Clean all urine and vomit immediately with a dry towel. Remove the inner fill and wash the bed cover using the instructions mentioned above. If the foam has become dirty, it can be gently spot-cleaned or soaked, but it must be allowed to air dry fully before being placed back inside the cover. Customers in the past have told us that a deodorizer (ex. Febreeze) or baking soda can take away the urine or vomit smell.

Is there any kind of assembly required for the TUFF beds?

Our TUFF beds require minimal assembly. Simply place the cover over the fill and close the Velcro. If you are having trouble placing the cover over the fill, try placing the cover on the floor (Velcro side up). Fold the fill and insert one side into one part of the Velcro. With one side in, unfold the fill while inserting the remaining portion into the second half of the cover. Close the Velcro and you're done!

Why do you cover your memory foam with a waterproof cover?

Waterproof inner covers are designed to protect the integrity of the foam inside. They help as a first barrier of defense against moisture. Moisture that may come from a wet dog, humid conditions, puppy accidents, or an older dog that may be incontinent.

Guarantee

Our Guarantee for the Orthopedic TUFF Crate Pad

If your dog chews through the cover, it is covered under our warranty. We will send out, free of charge, one replacement bed cover (not including bed fill). This one-time warranty is good for up to 90 days from the day that K9 Ballistics shipped out your purchase.

If you notice any damage of our product resulting from chewing or scratching, we recommend immediately removing the bed from your dog's access. Some dogs like to eat their bedding, so for your animals' health we recommend waiting to reintroduce the bed when the replacement cover arrives and/or when the dog grows out of the chewing phase.

How to Process a warranty Claim

What we need to process a warranty is:
1. An email sent by the person who placed the order (usually you) with your name and address
2. A photo of the damage (you can also include a photo of the culprit if you like). You do not need to send us your bed or cover.

Send email with pictures to [email protected]. It usually takes us five to seven business days to get back to you.

Warranty can be enacted just once. If you do not wish to enact your warranty, we can refund you 50% of the cost of the item provided that a picture of the damage is sent to us.
