  • What a great bed ! Review by Deb (Posted on 1/31/2017)
    Overall Quality
We are extremely happy with the orthopedic tuff bed. Our Gibbs loves it. He hasn't tried to chew it at all! I carry it between the bedroom and living room and he tries to help me move it each time. Love this product!
  • Voracious bed chewer has not chewed this bed! Review by Tucker (Posted on 1/31/2017)
    Overall Quality
We have a 13 yr old Lab who needs an orthopedic bed. We also have a 3 yr old energetic Lab who has chewed at least 12 beds since we had him as a puppy. Never had this problem before. Other than a slight nick in the corner, he has not chewed this bed. So far so good -- I say this because he has been known to attack a bed after a "honeymoon" period. I am optimistic about this one though.
  • Miraculous! Review by Kristie (Posted on 1/30/2017)
    Overall Quality
The ONLY bed that has survived more than 12 hours! We have two Coon Hounds and they almost instantly destroy anything we offer them to lay/sleep on. We've spent hundreds of dollars on bedding ("Definition of Insane"... I know, I know). My husband even fought me on this purchase (he's slightly less insane than me). But we are going on day 4 and they haven't even tried dragging it around, let alone chewing on it! It's a modern day miracle!!!
  • So far a 8 paw rating 2 pups 8 feet total lol! Review by JR (Posted on 1/29/2017)
    Overall Quality
So far so good! This bed us my last hope as NY destructive duo (2 11 month old Great Dane Puppies) have destroyed in a matter of minutes the last 3 "chew resistant" beds I bought before I found this bed! I bought the biggest bed there was and they bit the corner and tried to drag it around on the first day but soon gave up and later on it causing no damage so far!!! Its still early but I am thrilled you passed the 5 minute test and are now into day 8! They both fit on the bed and sleep well through the day. They are in a heated in door out door kennel while i am at work during the day with the bed inside they track in lots of durt and mud the bed is easily cleaned with a damp towel ( i do dread having to take the cover off as it was a bear to put on which would be my only critique) in defense to the other bed companies they provided a full refund when I showed them video of the demise of their beds which were molested at the zipper points. I will keep you posted☺

I have 3 Rottweilers and this will be the last dog bed that I buy. The dogs love it and it is built to last. It is bit difficult to get the cover on the bed but worth the strugle.
  • Great for Dog or child! Review by Julie (Posted on 1/27/2017)
    Overall Quality
I needed to find a memory foam mattress to fit a unique size space under my son's bunk bed. I wanted memory foam - encased in something durable. On a whim I googled XL dog bed came across this site. The dimensions worked perfect and now my 4 year old and the family dog have a very special (and comfortable!)space to hang out together! It was pricey - but I am very very impressed quality of the foam and durability of the fabric. Not sure who will test it more - the dog or the child? :)
  • Great Purchase!! Review by Crystal (Posted on 1/24/2017)
    Overall Quality
I bought this for my english bulldog who loves to eat every bed I buy him & of course he tried to eat this one too, but no success! This bed is going to save me a lot of money! I love the material & even with his weight the bed doesn't smush down like all the others, so the mattress is great too!

  • High marks for this bed Review by Julie (Posted on 12/26/2016)

My dogs usually chew up a bed within days. We have had this for 2 weeks and so far so good. My dog loves to lay on it and has not tried chewing it despite being left with it unsupervised while we are at work.
  • Our puppy has met his match Review by Lisa (Posted on 12/24/2016)
    Overall Quality
Well, so far so good. Our puppy - a voracious chewer has destroyed 2 crate beds. He has tried biting at the new K9 Ballistic bed few times but gives up easily. We are thrilled. Hopefully, this is the last bed we will replace for a very long time.
  • The ONLY company you should buy from! Review by Teresa (Posted on 12/20/2016)

K9 Ballistics is the BEST! I ordered two beds for my dogs and I have to say without a doubt, I got the best customer service from K9 Ballistics and will gladly purchase again when the need arises! Thank you for being such a wonderful company and caring so much about my dogs...amazing!
  • Great Looks and Amazing Chew-Proof/Dig-Proof Quality Review by Beth M (Posted on 12/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
We love these beds! This is the second one we've purchased only because we have 3 dogs - chewers and diggers. We bought one as a trial before getting enough for them to all have some space. These beds have stood up to their antics and I can gladly say that I think they'll be around for a long time. The quality is great and the fabric is beautiful! Thanks for finally giving us a bed that looks amazing and is sturdy enough to handle busy basenjis!
  • First bed such a hit with my 4 dogs, bought another! Review by Kim (Posted on 12/14/2016)
    Overall Quality
Just purchased a second Orthopedic Tuff Bed! The first one is now 3 years old, and in excellent shape, but such a hit with my 4 dogs (Swiss Mountain dog, Great Pyrenees, Poodle and Japanese Chin) that a second is needed to hold everyone. These beds are kept outside, under an awning, and look good in addition to being weather proof and great for the dogs! Well worth the cost.
  • Great quality - not chew resistant Review by kspencer (Posted on 12/13/2016)
    Overall Quality
I'm now convinced my dog can chew through ANYTHING. I have a 4-year old, 5 pound Yorkie mix and recently he started chewing up his bed in his cage while I'm gone. After going through 2 beds in a week, I decided to give this chew resistant bed a try. He was able to chew a hole through it in less than 2 hours. The material this bed it made out of seems like it's high quality. I honestly don't know what more could be done to make the bed any more resistant. If chewing is a minor problem for your dog, then give this bed a try, but I know my dog well enough that I should have known he would be able to chew through this one like all his others.
  • I highly recomend this bed! Review by Alan (Posted on 12/12/2016)

It's a great bed! She doesn't seem to want to get off it!
  • Satisfied so far. Review by Peggy (Posted on 12/11/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have had the bed for one week. Our little one, Abby, loves the bed and refuses to share it with her brother, Toby. We purchased one large enough for both. I did have to put an old blanket on top as Abby loves to make a nest. So far, it has been Toby proof. He tends to chew and tear up every bed we have ever purchased.

this is our second one. will worth the price. Super.!!! wish it did come a bit smaller.
  • So far, so great! Review by Jim (Posted on 12/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
The bed was an instant hit with our dogs, both 70 lb rescue mutts. We first bought a 36" round for our 11 year old after the new puppy (then 9 months old) shredded all of our existing dog beds. Not a scratch on that one! We got the puppy his own bed for his first birthday, moving up to 38 x 54 because he's very long. It's more bed than he needs (you don't sell a 48 x 36) but it easily supports both dogs comfortably.

The puppy has settled in well and chewing is mostly limited to toys, so I can't really attest to how the beds hold up to a big dog bent on wanton destruction. I can say, though, that with arrival of winter slop, the easy-care covers (including the velvet microfiber) are awesome.

P.S. The older dog dreams big and runs in his sleep all night. The velvet sleep surface really is great in limiting noise of active sleepers. So far, it's holding up extremely well.
  • I wish I would have bought it years ago Review by Tammy (Posted on 12/2/2016)

I researched and found this bed a year ago but I wasn't willing to pay the price at the time .... two shredded dog beds later I decided I should have bought it a year ago ..
black Scottish Terrier is 8 years old
Yorkshire Terrier is 9 years old
    Maltese/Havenese is 1 year old

The Havamalt tried to scratch it a few times
No one has even attempted to chew yet

  • Very Well Made, Rugged Bed with Great Gurantee. Review by Dom (Posted on 11/29/2016)
    Overall Quality
Hunter, our Golden loved the bed! He laid down with me to get used to it and fell asleep for a couple of hours so we thought "this is going very well!"

But here is The Rest of The Story: He woke up and began to bunch it up and chew it! We went for a walk, he came back, bunched it up and began chewing the corners! He chewed right through the corner fairly quickly!

In Defense of the Bed- it is Very Rugged and well made!

I've since read that my sweet Golden may have " issues" from weaning and I should take him to a Board Certified Animal Therapist. So, I'm getting a new cover because it's a great bed plus it's a better than spending years in Dog Therapy!
  • Love it! Review by Gretchen ( no nickname (Posted on 11/24/2016)
    Overall Quality
I couldn't get your little stars to respond to rate the bed. So far, it is wonderful! It is Charlotte's bed. She is 12 years old and needs a good bed for her bones. Our Landseer Neefoundland, at 101 pounds, is still very much a puppy at 1 1/2,years. She will chew anything she can get her fangs into. Thus far , the bed has not tempted her. So far, she has ripped and disemboweled 6 beds, before we got the Tuff. Very pleased. Thank you!

  • Disappointed Review by Jasmine (Posted on 11/10/2016)
    Overall Quality
I just received the orthopedic tuff bed 40x68x5... and I have to say I'm very disappointed. After struggling for quite a while trying to put the cover on the bed I finally gave up. I can not put the bed into the cover, which means now i'll have to return it and wait again to get another one (I will try two smaller ones instead of a big one)... problem is, my dogs are very jealous of each other's stuff... that's why I bought one big bed. Also, wouldn't it make it easier if the opening of the cover was at one end instead of in the middle?... Quality looks great, but I'm not happy.

  • Very Satisfied Review by Brandy W (Posted on 10/27/2016)
    Overall Quality
We were very skeptical that this would stand up to our pit and his massive jaws and determination to destroy bedding. He LOVES his new bed and hasn't even attempted to chew it. We like it so much we've ordered a second one for a different room. The embroidery was a nice touch too!
  • Love our Tuff bed for Dirty dogs Review by kristena (Posted on 10/26/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have 2 85-90 lb barn dogs that for obvious reasons can be quite dirty at times. This bed is amazing at keeping the dirt on the surface. We have only had one day that they came home wet and it didn't seem to penetrate the surface of the tuff cover. I bought the XL bed and both dogs are able to lay together. It was a great buy and our dogs will be forever grateful!
  • Dissatisfied Review by linda (Posted on 10/25/2016)

  • A+ Review by Jacki (Posted on 10/16/2016)
    Overall Quality
I bought this bed to use in my basement bedroom which occasionally gets water on the floor. I bought it because it would keep my little house dog's bedding from getting wet. I was afraid that this bed might be so tough and durable that it wouldn't be comfy enough, but she took to it right away. I am totally satisfied.

Prompt service and speedy delivery of two Orthopedic Tuff Beds. I am very pleased with workmanship and quality of the product. One pet adopted his bed immediately while the other is still tentative....because it is not a pillow-like bed of which she has destroyed 3! Highly recommend.

It seems to be very well made. It is quite firm and so far our three dogs won't use it.

K9 Ballistics Response: Sometimes it can take some time for dogs to warm up to a new bed, but if after even a few weeks they still won't use the bed, please let us know! Swapping the orthopedic mattress for the nesting one may help.
  • This Bed is Not as Tuff as You Would Hope Review by Kenzie (Posted on 7/18/2016)
    Overall Quality
I bought this bed for my 10 month old German Shepard. Within 2 hours, my dog had one corner of the bed chewed away, leaving pieces of the orthopedic foam throughout the house. He was able to break through the cover on another corner of the bed before this incident was noted and I was able to take away the bed. My dog has not chewed any other furniture in my house, other than this bed. I was disappointed as I hoped the bed would last longer than 2 hours, given its 90 day chew proof guarantee. In which don't forget, it's not a true guarantee. The company offers only a replacement cover or 50% refund. In which why would a replacement cover for the bed be any good? It will just be another peice of material for my dog to chew through. And 50 % refund was a disappointment. I do not recommend the Tuff Bed over any basic bed.
  • He loves it! Review by Damon (Posted on 7/6/2016)
    Overall Quality
We've a rescue & he was still in "chew everything up" mode, having gone through a couple of other beds before I found this one. We got the ortho one, & once he laid down on it once we've never seen him chew it! He absolutely loves his new bed. So much that we never catch him on the couch anymore...
  • Excellent Review by Erin (Posted on 6/29/2016)
    Overall Quality
Our 1 year old German Shepherd tears everything apart, so I was very skeptical of buying this bed. I set it up the day it came and he automatically started chewing it and throwing it around the living room. After he realized he couldn't get through the cover of the bed (probably a good 20 minutes of trying), he gave up and laid down. It's been 2 weeks and it's still intact. That's really good for him! I'd definitely recommend the orthopedic TUFF bed.
  • Thee Best! Review by julie (Posted on 6/28/2016)
    Overall Quality
This is my 3rd TUFF bed in a year...one for his Igloo house, one for his kennel, and one for inside. He's a Belgian Malinois that just turned two, and he can't have a regular bed because he scratches/digs into them them to get at the insides. I can be be worry free that my boy is safe with these beds :)
  • Wow! Review by Leslie (Posted on 6/27/2016)
    Overall Quality
My 4 dogs just LOVE the new large orthopedic bed with chew-resistant cover. My crazy brindle dog Jessie, (rescued from a dog-meat hellhole in S. Korea from Nami Kim) chewed and de-stuffed every bed I got for them, the other poor dogs were desperate for a bed. Finally, this new bed and the extra 3 covers I got to put over their other torn up beds are all doing very well, I'm so amazed! I don't know what it is about those covers, but she hasn't even attempted to tear into them yet, it's a real miracle for sure. Thanks so much k9ballistics, your beds and covers are a godsend, and don't the dogs look happy to have comfy beds at last. :)
  • Great beds. Review by Ryan (Posted on 6/27/2016)
    Overall Quality
The beds are great, I bought 2 of them for my dogs and they love them. Seem like they might be slightly over priced since it's just foam but I don't know what the material make up is and it's cost. Also a tad noisy but you can't ask for everything and I'd rather have a bed that'll hold up.
  • so far so good Review by Stefan (Posted on 6/27/2016)

  • Great Bed! Review by Jenn (Posted on 6/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
Best dog bed I have ever purchased. We now have one of the Orthopedic Tuff beds and one of the original Tuff dog beds. Both are great. Our dogs seem to have a slight preference for the Orthopedic dog bed, but the original one is very comfortable too. Our two and four year old human kids love the dog beds too! The orthopedic one makes a great nap pad for kids and dogs alike. So far the beds have held up really well. Our dog doesn't chew beds any more, but he paws like he is making a nest before he lies down. He had destroyed all of his other beds, but this one seems like it will hold up well. Very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend this bed.
  • NOT CHEW PROOF Review by Larry (Posted on 6/16/2016)
    Overall Quality
If you are looking for a chew proof bed this is NOT the one. I have 2 very well loved dogs that get lots of attention. My 1 year old Australian Shepard does not have a chewing problem except for beds. He chewed thru this "Chew Proof Bed" easily. I was hoping this was the solution but it is not. If your dog Chews he will easily chew this bed. Don't waste your money. He easily chewed right thru the stitches. I feel the company should give me a full refund not just a one time replacement cover which he also easily chewed thru.

At 1st Shadow, our 76 lb Dobie, didn't like it. So we put her 2nd Lux Blanket on it & now she loves it. She sleeps there about half the nite & the other half on our couch where we have the other Lux Blanket in the middle so she can be between us any time she wants which is most of the time.
  • nicest bed ever Review by Tracie (Posted on 6/8/2016)

We have 7 dogs and so I've bought a LOT of beds. This is the best one we have ever purchased.
The generous size allows plenty of room to share, and sometimes their Daddy sleeps on it with them! He says he likes it better than our own mattress...
Guess we'll be getting more soon!
  • Not REALLY for Dogs that Chew Review by Sandy (Posted on 6/6/2016)
    Overall Quality
Our 7.5 month old German Shepherd made mince meat of this bed in 15 minutes - literally. It took her much longer to destroy her under $50 Costco bed. A dog that is really chewing is going to get through this in no time flat, nothing special about this bed from that regard. K9ballistics did do their best though of making good on making us feel whole.
  • Excellent Product! Review by Mike (Posted on 6/4/2016)
    Overall Quality
The Orthopedic TUFF Bed worked just as described. My Brittany chewed on the corners a little bit, then quit when she could not make any progress. She had quickly destroyed several "chew resistant" beds before I found out about K9 Ballistics. I also purchased a crate pad, which also is excellent.
  • Worth the $ Review by Jane (Posted on 5/31/2016)
    Overall Quality
This is our 2nd chew free bed for our house! We have one in our bedroom and one on the main level. Our cockapoo has chewed through several beds. He hasn't even tried to chew on these. I do place a small blanket on top for extra comfort because the chew free cover isn't the most comfortable but does the job! We are SO happy with these beds!

  • So far so good. Review by Eric (Posted on 5/18/2016)
    Overall Quality
I didn't really believe that there was a product out there that actually could stand up to my dog's insanity. But so far so good, she has scratched and chewed at it. But I think this one will finally last after spending so much on several different types of beds that she destroyed within days of having them. I see her using it quite often and she looks genuinely comfortable. I'm just glad you make these products. Because I think I have one of the most destructive dogs out there. But its holding up without so much as a scuff on it. And, its been at least three weeks since i've had it. Thank you .
  • The best bed so far. Review by Lloyd (Posted on 5/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
We have three of these beds now, the first two are over six months old. It seems the dogs waited until after the 90 days to start chewing on the corners, which they did make a hole in one. In all fairness there are 4 dogs using the beds and they are holding up very well. These are the first beds that have remained almost like new for more than a couple of months. The previous dog beds from other manufacturers all had zippers that seem to attract chewing. Except for one corner on one bed having a small hole these beds are working fine. I think the higher cost is already offset by the length of time the beds have remained intact. They are worth the price.

My mommy bought this bed for the foam- not the cover. I don't have a chewing issue- I'm many years past that! I do have a flattening and seam bursting problem. So mommy put the chew thru cover on and zipped it into my WestPaw cover. The foam is holding up to my muscular 100 lb bulldog frame so far! No flattening yet.

Although pricey, this bed is worth every penny. I have two large dogs who are determined chewers and have gone through multiple beds. I purchased two of these beds two months ago and can happily report that they are still in their original condition. I have also washed and dried the covers and unlike other beds I have tried, the covers did not shrink at all. If you have a pup whose life goal seems to be the destruction of their bed, this bed should be your choice.

My heeler only took 5 seconds to jump on her new orthopedic tuff bed (outside use only) and start to chew on the corner. 5 seconds later she laid down on it. 5 seconds after that her 2 remaining 6 week old pups chewed on the same corner of the bed! All 3 eventually stopped chewing on the bed within 3 minutes all 3 have used the bed on and off for the past 2 days. Took only 2 days to get my purchase after I ordered and I'll continue to purchase more k9 ballistic products! Stop wasting money on other lame dog products!

Thank you for having such good products. I've had several dog beds, none have held up. I bought one of your beds for our old rescue dog. She has had it for at least a year and it still looks like new. When it came time to buy beds for our other two dogs there was no other choice

We keep beds throughout the house for our boxer mix and this one stays where she's kept when we're gone. It is holding up great and doesn't seem to be flattening at all. Her moving around on it is pretty loud and would be annoying if we had to hear it all the time. When it's time to replace her other beds I'll definitely be getting another K9 ballistics bed!

We've had the bed 1 week and it's yet to be destroyed; which is amazing! Typically, a supposedly indestructible bed would already be shredded and I'd make fruitless attempts to sew it back together. Seems that the fabric on this bed is really tough and my dog is not able to pull and tear it. Maybe the weight and size help. All I know is that I'm not seeing chewed corners or stuffing all around the room. YAY!

We have bought many other "memory foam, orthopedic" beds for our rescued, ancient, over sized Shar Pei. Every one has collapsed within months. None are waterproof, have to be washed with a hose & take 3-4 days to dry. The old boy is incontinent & even though he wears disposable diapers, he floods them & leaks into his bed. Hence out excitement at finding a real memory foam, waterproof bed at K9 Ballistics. As soon as the bed hit the floor there was a scramble of several dogs trying to claim it. Within a few hours the others had left to find out what was going on outside, the Shar Pei moved in & he spends 80% of his waking hours lounged out on his bed. He LOVES it. We love the quality.....actually getting what was advertised. We are already saving for another one. Thank Shaun for the tennis ball...the younger dogs love it.

I bought one of the non-orthopedic beds several years ago for my el destructo Great Dane. The bed is still in good shape (it has been used in his crate) and I needed to buy 2 new beds for a 2nd Great Dane and a border collie mix. In my mind there was no other choice but to buy K9 beds. I opted for the orthopedic beds this time and they are great. El destructo has claimed one of them for himself when he gets tired of the couch. Although they are a little pricey, they are well worth the cost. The orthopedic beds are a little more difficult to get into their covers, but with some extra muscle, it can be done!

I have an 11 month old pupy who loves to chew anything in sight. She loved this bed from the moment I opened it not even giving me a chance to put the cover on before she layed on it and wouldn't get off. She did try to haul it around the house but she wasn't able to get a grip on the cover even though she is an intense chewer. I don't regret buying this bed it was worth every cent I paid for it.

We have an 80 pound Great Dane puppy. This is our third Great Dane. They have a tendency to tear things up when left in the crate longer than they like and can be quite powerful in their destruction. The dog loves this bed and actually will but himself into his 7 x 6 crate at bed time without being told. There is plenty of room on the bed for his growth. We got the largest size available. And thankfully he cannot tear it up. I had to laugh the first night because he tried and when he realized it wouldn't budge he gave up and now doesn't even try. To be honest price got me at first but giant dog costs are always high and honestly shipping speed, not having to replace it every few months and company follow up makes it well worth the money. Not an centimeter of compaction.
  • so far so good Review by Katie (Posted on 4/14/2016)
    Overall Quality
Extremely high quality mattress and cover material. I am very impressed with how everything was packaged, and how easy it was to put the mattress in the cover (so long as you read the enclosed instructions). The velcro on the bottom on the cover is also extremely strong AND runs down the middle on the bottom side of the cover (a unique quality I've never seen before) so that dogs inclined to chew don't have a zipper to entice them. I did not purchase this bed because my beagle chews beds, but he is a "nester" and will dig and dig before he will settle and with normal fabric beds he will tear holes in them within months. I also purchased it because he has back issues and my vet recommended an othopedic mattress. I chose the TUFF bed because he is getting older and I expect that in the next handful of years there is the potential he will become incontinent in his sleep and I wanted a bed that would be resilient to liquid. I did test it with water and it is completely water proof, plus the casing on the mattress inside of the cover can zip off and be washed. My only issue with the bed (and the reason I didn't give it 5 stars) is that it isn't very comfortable. It is possible that it may wear in a little bit and get a bit squishier, but so far the cover is so still and almost plastic-y that I have had to put a blanket over it for my beagle to even lay on it. That being said my other dog really likes it and frequently will take it over so my beagle ends up on a different, less supportive, mattress. For that reason I have already purchased a second so that they each have their own and the beagle will be more likely to sleep on his and hopefully help with his back issues. I should also add that the personalization is very well done and having their names embroidered on the bed adds a really nice personal touch.

I purchased this bed and it ended up being too small for my dog. I had to pay $60 to return the bed and pay the restocking fee. I lost $95 in total because the bed ended up being too small. I would have purchased a larger bed if the return shipping would have been reimbursed but I was only offered the restocking fee of $34 to be waived if I purchased another bed. I wouldn't consider this size to be large but a medium sized bed.

My dogs don't chew their beds, but I wanted an XXL orthopedic dog bed made out of material that was cool and didn't attract dirt and fur like all the others. I have Kuvaszok and live in Florida, so they're constantly shedding dirt and fur in the house. It took them several days to get used to having a bed that they don't sink into, but they are coming around and using it more and more. In spite of the good bit of effort it took to put the foam in the cover, I look forward to purchasing another one in the future.

I brought two of these beds after my male Great Dane destoried every bed I brought home within minutes. I've had these beds for almost two weeks and they are still in one piece. I heard him in the room the very first night going after it and didn't have any luck. They are in the room with them over night and through the day when I'm at work. So he's had plenty of chances and probably more then that one attempt. Theses beds are well worth it.

My puppy already likes laying on her new bed. She has destroyed two beds so far and she just turned a year. I am praying that this bed is a good fit. I bought the lattice version and it's lovely. Be advised the lattice is not the color pictured. I am disappointed in the color, I was hoping for the purple that it appeared to be on the website. The lattice is more of a dark and light taupe in color.

I've got a (now) 9 month old puppy for whom I wanted to get a bed but knew he'd destroy it since he did so with the blanket I gave him to sleep on. Got him a cheap bed just to see what he'd do and, yep, didn't take him 5 minutes! But he needed something since I have to leave him in the garage (with access to the fenced back yard) while I work. Got this. He made the big paw swipe across it first thing. No tearing! I saw him try to chew on a corner of it. Nothing! And he's actually stopped trying to shred it! And he doesn't even try to drag it outside! And it looks like it will hold up for quite some time. Worth the cost to me!

My 'grand-dog' spends a lot of time with us. He chewed through his old foam bed the first night. Then he kept picking at it every time he came over. • Defintely not worth it, the material actually attracts the dog to destroy it! Review by Jack (Posted on 3/26/2016)
    Overall Quality
I am very upset with this product. It seems as if it is made of materials that the dogs are attracted to. I can not get him to stop xhewing it up. The very first night I got the bed, he had tore the cover. I ordered a replacement warranty cover that night. What seems like more than 30 days later or more, the replacement finally arrived. That very same day, he tore the corner off. In between that time, he also destroyed the foam pad. I even sprayed deterants on the cover to prevent chewing. The temptation is so great it's like he is addicted to chewing it up. He has toys all over the yard but he can't resist chewing the dang thing. I paid around $150 for this large size temporpedic bed and it is completely destroyed in less than 1 hour of ownership. At this rate, it would be worth the cheaper beds because he wouldn't be tempted to destroy them. They actually lasted longer because they only got destroyed from being of low quality materials. This bed is like cocaine to the dog. Very disappointed. Not happy with this product or company.

Ordered expecting to get a chew proof bed since there were so many good reviews but all the bad ones must have been deleted. My 1 y/o Labrador chewed through it within 24 hours. Not worth my money and the guarantee only covers a new cover (the padding itself) or 50% refund. I just want my full refund for a bed that promised one thing but does the complete opposite. $300 in the whole.

I am a Pastor from South Carolina and I stand on God's Holy Word which says: While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. 2 Corinthians 4:18 Many people today struggle with believing something that they cannot see. Well if you need to see to believe, this Tuff Bed is for real. My baby is a 90 lb. Doberman, and he has destroyed every bed I have purchased for him until now! After I placed this Tuff Bed in his brick dog house, I would peak in every day expecting to see it torn to pieces, but it is still like new after 3 weeks. I have already purchased another Doberman that I will have in a few weeks, which means I will be ordering another Tuff Bed soon. Excellent Product! So before this bed, we had gone thru several dog beds. It didn't matter the manufactor. When the dog sets its mind to chewing on the bed, all the rest only lasted seconds. This bed, you could hear the dog messing with it. If you were quick to respond, you could stop the behavior, temporarily. Unfortunately, it is not enough, lol. At some point, the dog will get his way, much like my 11 month old Silver Labrador. He tore the corner, just a little at first, on the very first night I received the bed. I contacted the warranty department to order my replacement that same night. I got an email stating that same cover color ordered was back ordered. Two weeks later, still no bed. The dog wasn't very thrilled about this, so he ate the hole corner off. Still waiting on the cover. And the worst part is, my wife said " I thought you said this was bulletproof?" I reminded her that I said "ballistic" not "bulletproof."

I received this bed and was very impressed with the construction of the cover - our black lab has literally shredded and chewed so many beds that we have lost count. We ended up getting an indestructible bed made of PVC pipes for him and bought a wire cage big enough to surround that. Within two days the kennel looked like something out of Jurrasic Workd had attacked it. So, we bought another kennel, but needed a bed that would be supportive to his aging body (he is 9, but looks and acts like he is 3). We found K9 Ballistics and decided to chance it. He loves to scratch and nest on this bed, but we have yet to see any damage to it - going on 3 weeks now. In addition, we have kept the other kennel with the Kurunda bed in it open for him - he never uses this one any more and always chooses his Ballistic bed - his opinion is the one that really counts! We will keep updating - here is hoping this bed will last a looonnngggg time!

I have two Rottweilers (Devo & Zoey) and I have gone through at least 10 beds each over the last 7 years. Zoey still chews and this is the only bed she hasn't chewed a hole through in the first week! I am impressed already. Devo is over 100 lbs and he usually flattens his bed after just a couple of days. He lays on his bed all day and he hasn't put a dent in it yet. I wish I would have known about these beds before I spent hundreds of dollars over the years on the cheaper beds.

Daryl, my American Bulldog mix, has destroyed many things. My floors, walls, and countless beds. I was skeptical of spending money on a bed that was surely not going to last but supplying him cheap bedding was adding up to just as much. Ordered, delivered, assembled (not that difficult) and used. It easy to clean. Sweep off hair, wet cloth for any tracked in dirt. The sizes are great for the price. The foam holds up 110 pounds of dog without a problem. Best yet, not a single hole.

I have a Golden Retriever that is 8 years old. He is having trouble getting up because his hips are bothering him. I decided to splurge and purchase the orthopedic Tuff bed for him. I can't tell you how many beds I have purchased and he has chewed. I have even bought thick upholstery fabric and made covers for the beds I bought so there would be 2 layers to chew through. The bed is super supportive and he loves it! After having it 1 week he has chewed the corner. K9 Ballistics quickly responded and is sending me another cover. I was really disappointed that he chewed through the bed. I had hoped it would at least last the 90 days before he chewed through.

The cover is very tough. My GSD hasn't detroyed the bed..for now. I've come home twice to find the bed up side down. He's discovered the covers velcro opening and knows how to open it exposing the mattress inside. He bit through a small layer of foam but didn't completely destroy it. I purchased an extra cover to completely keep him out of the innards to the bed and has been good since then. Great bed nonetheless. Will buy another soon!

I guess this chew proof bed wasn't tested with Labradors in mind :( I wish I could post the pictures here but the bed hasn't lasted since we received on January 22nd. It is now February 3rd and a corner has been chewed off the bed itself and they enjoyed the foam pad on the inside before leaping to remove from their mouths when they ran to us from the different room. I personally would never purchase again. If you have a dog that loves to chew and remove foam thinking it is a toy, I would not recommend this bed. There are other things that are more cheaper that would last as long or longer than this.

I seriously could not be happier I have an almost 2 year old Lab, who would just ATTACK his beds, shred it until there was nothing left .. to the point I almost gave up on the purchasing beds. I figured one more shot wouldn't hurt. It has been about 2 weeks now and well, the bed looks the same, as the day I purchased it. Not only does my fur child love his bed, he also loves the tennis ball they shipped with it. I would definitely recommend this bed & K9 Ballistics to anyone who has a dog that enjoys chewing/tearing up dog beds.

I have a Great Pyrennes rescue weighing around 130 pounds and my Golden Retriever that weighs 128 pounds, and they love the XL orthopedic tuff bed. It supports their bodies without flattening and is especially great for my almost 10 year old Golden with a torn ACL. The only problem is sharing - hopefully I can get another one sometime later.

All three of my dogs can fit comfortably on this super large, comfortable bed. The puppy (10 month old lab/great pyr mix) hasn't even tried to chew it. I love the hidden velcro closure on the bottom middle of the bed. All prior chewing seemed to start with zippers and tags. None of those on this bed.

Moose the 3 year old Mastiff used to spend his boring days ripping the stuffing out of his beds. No more! Now, he proudly lounges on his TUFF bed. I'm happy because it's neat and tidy and he's happy because his big, heavy body is comfortable. Don't think you're dog is gonna grow out of eating his bed. Just order a TUFF bed. now.

I have a 10 month old lab puppy. She chews everything. We have had the bed for a week, and so far she has not been able to chew thru it. She has tried several times, and so far so good. Hopefully she will give up on it. It is also a very well made comfortable bed I ordered her the extra large and she has plenty of room on it. I was very leary of spending $200 on a bed, but if it lasts her for years and stays in tact, it will be well worth it.

Wow! I could not be happier with the purchase of this dog bed. I have two Mastiff dogs that love to sleep together in the bed. I bought the XL size and both fit comfortably in it. I'm not sure if it's the material, however, Sasha has not even tried to chew on this bed. I wish I would have found this bed sooner, as I have spent well over the $200.00 mark replacing previous beds. It has been a little over a week and so far, so good. I would definitely recommend this bed to anyone who has a dog that enjoys chewing/tearing up dog beds.

Not only was the wrong color sent but neither of my two dogs will even lay on this bed. I don't feel the bed was worth the $110 since I can't even get my dogs to use it. I have never seen my dogs avoid a dog bed before. The chewer doesn't even want anything to do with the bed. I'm sorry I bought it.

I have four dogs ranging in size from 60 to 80 lbs and purchased the XL so that they would all have plenty of room as they like to stretch out (yes, I purchased 4 of them and have them located in various areas of the house). I am extremely satisfied with the great service I received from K9 and the quality of this product is excellent. I highly recommend this bed and would spend the money again in a heart beat.

We love it! I think Rosco really likes this bed. He's a German Sheppard/Lab mix so he's a good sized dog. Being newly out off puppyhood doesn't stop him from chewing. I believe he's met his match with this bed. He loved being up off the cold tile. The stitching we put on it is being attacked, but the bed itself is holding up! Will buy again!

We recently rescued an 8yr old Catahoula Hound dog. He is a beautiful well behaved pup....with a huge anxiety issue. He was taking out his anxiety issues on any bed we bought him the last count was 5 in as many mths that we had him. His previous beds quickly became unidentifiable just piles of white foam. He also did this with any blanket we gave him. When we took the beds away in fear he would need surgery due to eating the material we soon had a new concern about his old bones on hard floor. Well Santa brought him a new K9 ortho tuff bed for Christmas. As of today it still looks brand new it has been 14 days which is 14 days longer then any other bed lasted.
He seems to love it! We just ordered a blanket from this site and although there is not a chew proof guarantee were hoping it's as durable. The bed is a bit noisy when Mr Nash is trying to nest but we have quickly blocked it out...due to the durability of the material and it's a bit cool to the touch your fido may need a blanket in winter for on top. We highly recommend this bed. Delivery was super fast. Price is up there but way cheaper then surgery if material were to get impacted in digestive system. Will update later when get blanket.

Talk to text I purchased a kennel bed and an orthopedic bed. I have two two beagles and 2 Labrador troopers all four of which are used to service dogs and hunting dogs. Even after good day of hunting I could not get any of my dogs to lay on the orthopedic bed. I was rather disappointed after weighing my decisions back and forth on getting the original tough bed for the orthopedic bed I realize I made the wrong decision. However once I put the kennel bed on top of the orthopedic bed now I can't get my dogs off of it. The orthopedic bed is fine quality but is rather hard to the material and the tightness of the cover. I would recommend is that others get the original stuff bed and not the orthopedic bed. The company could sell an orthopedic bed with a removeable kennel bed attached the top of it. What you'd be really handy when traveling on trips you could detach the kennel bed and take it with you. Once again the products I received were great quality and excellent craftsmanship. Even after a long day of hunting geese I still couldn't get my labs to sleep on the bed.

The cover is great and will definitely prevent my dog from scratching his bed to pieces like he has been recently (he's elderly!). The only thing I don't love is how loud it is, sounds strange but the fabric is so tough that when they walk, move etc it is loud. It's not anything that would detract me from buying another one though and hasn't stopped both of mine from using it.

So far, I love it and my 1 yr old Boxer male I think loves it!! I have a 16 mo old female boxer and the above male. Bodhi, the male, tore up his crate bed. It was not anyway comparable to the K-9 Ballistics Bed. He may not like being able to tear it up, but I love it. I plan on getting another one for Reba. He seems comfortable and I do not ever foresee him making a dent in this bed. Before I bought two, I decided to put the bed to the test, Bodhi.
I will eventually buy a 2nd one. My dogs spend most of their time outside or in the house, on my bed. However, if I leave, for their protection I crate them indoors.
A plus plus on this bed!!! Thank you!

Great product! My 4 large dogs have destroyed every single bed I purchased over the past 2 years. Everything changed with purchase of these beds. Started with 4 in their "doggie bunkhouse" then purchased 2 more for the deck. They are sturdy, comfortable and attractive. Only 1 drawback, they come needing the purchaser to insert bed into cover...a very difficult and time consuming endeavor resulting in skinned knuckles and broken nails. That must be why the seller doesn't handle the task!

Would recommend this to anyone and have already! Our furbaby was away at obedience training and would chew the zipper of his other beds during rain storms. He never attempted to even chew on his K9 Tuff Bed. The trainer even said he stopped going in his room if his bed was not there. He is home now and we are very pleased with the bed. It is noisy at night in our bedroom but we cover it with his blankets at night.

My 1 year old Norwegian Elkhound is the biggest pain in my behind but also my baby that I love dearly. He escaped from ANYTHING and would chew up EVERYTHING. I bought a very pricy escape proof stainless steel crate so dropping a $100 on a bed wasn't much. My naughty dog also has horrible hip dysplasia and spondylosis so laying on our hardwood floor and metal bars all day/nighy was not ideal. Any blanket/bed I laid down he would throw up from ingesting so much of it. I finally searched indestructible dog beds and found this site. Crixus immediately jumped on it and started chewing on it. He quickly found it was getting him nowhere and gave it up. He also suffers from incontinence because of the nerve damage in his back end so this bed was perfect because it is waterproof and easily cleaned if he has an accident. He sleeps on it every night and LOVES it. Although it doesn't fit in his crate I plan on getting the crate pad from this site when my wallet replenishes itself after the holidays. Very pleased.

Our Great Purenees was a rescue and served for several years as my son's service dog. He is now 12 years old, and his back legs were broken by a previous owner - arthritis has set in. This bed is everything I hoped it would be and then some in regards to it's design. I am able to vacuum it, wash it and not have to worry about my Shar Pei finding any weak points to tear at. My little buddy has severe environmental allergies that were previously invoked by his old cloth bed. This Ballistic is hypoallergenic and prevents this issue so I am happy to see progress in his incessant itching.
The only detail that I am trying to figure out is the noise it makes when he adjusts position. He sleeps on his Ballistic bed in our bedroom and he does tend to move around and it creates quite a noise when he does.
All around great bed and I would recommend the investment to anyone looking to purchase a bed, for any dog.

The Orthopedic TUFF Bed is so firm. Great Quality bed. Lots of support for Sadie but she liked it so much she chewed holes in both corners. I must have misunderstood the add. Yep I did, but K9 Ballistic is going to replace the cover free of charge. It will not keep her from chewing through again but it will be double layered this time.
I will have to find something she doesn't like to spray on it. Some suggest cayenne. Sadie seems to love cayenne. Not sure what to try next...
  • Great bed! Review by Ursula (Posted on 10/21/2015)

I have a large Doberman who paws and nests before finding the perfect spot to lay on her bed. She lives in the country, so nails can sometimes get long as she doesn't walk much on pavement, and this bed holds up to her routine very well! She doesn't even try to chew it up (and she's chewed several). It is large and luxurious and I like knowing she has such a supportive mattress that will cushion her bony parts for many years to come. I do need to mention that we find it almost impossible to get the cover on the bed. Took me a torturous 45 minutes to do it on my own the first time and after a first wash, it has been staring at me for several days because I can't yet bring myself to fight that battle. We are thinking of ways we could modify to make this a more realistic cover to keep washed. Considering cutting down the mattress or cutting the cover but others seem able to get it in, so maybe I'm just weak!

I went through three beds in eight months covering puppyhood through adolescence. I finally did a Google search to see if anyone made a bite-proof bed and discovered K9 Ballistics. The reviews convinced me to buy and I'm glad I did. While I've only had it a week and a half, this one will be a challenge to destroy. I like that there is no zipper to start a tear. My Ausie & Corgi took to the bed immediately. They play and roughhouse on it and no problems. I know it is comfy because I often hang on the pillow with them. The large size is perfect for us. I highly recommend this bed.

I have purchased 3 of the Orthopedic Tuff Beds from you over the years - none of them has had any damage from my 2 Rottweilers and 1 Lab. Love the fact that dirt doesn't stick to the covers and that they clean-up so easily. We even had the dogs get some skunk scent on one of the beds - took off the cover and washed it with the skunk-remover formula from MythBusters and the smell was completely gone. Unbelievable!!

I needed an orthopedic bed for my 11 year old yellow Lab. I also needed a bed that my 4 month old Shepherd pup couldn't destroy. This was definitely it. Old dog is happy to have a comfy bed, that isn't missing its stuffing, and the pup is finally leaving it alone. (Although he did give it a very good try). My yellow Lab is 120 pounds, and this gives him complete support. The material has been put through not only the chew test by the pup, but it has also been put through the dig test, by my 7 year old chocolate Lab. Absolutely love it. I would not only highly recommend it, I will be back for another one, since all three now try to sleep on it.

I have a pit bull, less than a year old, and she is a sweetheart. But she went through 4-5 dog beds like a knife through butter. I couldn't just let her lay on the bare floor of her doghouse, but it was getting very frustrating. I got her the K-9 Ballistic Orthopedic TUFF Bed, and she has yet to ever put a scratch in it. The bed happens to fit her doghouse very tight but it conforms easily, which I strongly recommend because I think it may have discouraged her from "digging" up the pad and trying to pull it outside like she had done so easily many times before. I'll be purchasing additional beds to take camping, swap out if I need to clean, etc.

This bed is exactly as advertised and K9ballistics' customer service has been excellent. Great quality and very durable. Despite my pups best efforts of scratching it to shreds, it is still in one piece. The only thing I will say is I think my pups would have preferred the original tuff bed over the orthopedic one as the orthopedic bed doesn't have much give and doesn't seem as comfortable. Overall though great product.

Our 10 year old beagle has always had spinal cord and hip issues (he will have phases where he will be paralyzed in his back 2 legs for awhile, then go back to running around like a puppy after a round of steroids). He recently got run over by a car while we were on vacation and as my husband and I were driving home thinking the worst, I told him if Otis recovers from this I am buying him an indestructible orthopedic bed! Well, our sweet boy is out running around with his younger brothers and sleeping very soundly on his new bed. Its been 3 weeks now and his digging hasn't bothered the bed one bit. He loves it so much he is almost impossible to get out of bed in the morning! I only wish I had ordered him one size bigger so he could stretch out more.

I purchased the XXlg ortho tuff bed. We wanted 1 big enough for 4 dogs because having beds all over did not work out so well since they like to sleep together anyway. It is a perfect size for 2 labs, a mini aussie, and a chi-weenie. Sturdy enough for my 95# lab and offers much needed support for my 15 yr. old lab. The dog hair brushes off easily. The only drawback was how much difficulty we had stuffing the mattress in the cover. Hard to do but it is a great fit and looks terrific.
  • Amazed that the beds are still in one piece Review by Annette (Posted on 8/23/2015)

I have 4 dogs, 2 of which are big chewers so we've had a hard time keeping beds around. They would always shed them and stuffing would be everywhere within no time. We spent so much money on buying a bed that may last a couple weeks, until they got board or went thru a chewing frenzy. I was skeptical when I found these beds. I read several rewiews that supported the chew proof promise. So I ordered 2 to give them a try. I was amazed that a month later they are still in one piece, so I ordered another one. It's now been almost 2 months since the first ordered and the beds look as good as when I received them! I can proudly say that we have 3 beds now that are all in one piece! I am very pleased with this product and will recommend them to every dog owner I know!!
  • Finally, a bed that can outlast our Airedale Review by Renee (Posted on 8/21/2015)
    Overall Quality
Before the K9 Ballistic bed, we went through 3 other "tough" beds... well not tough enough for Bogart, our Airdale Terrier. We were getting desperate since we now had to make him sleep in his crate with no liner, no blanket or no bed, or else we would chew, shred and possibly eat any soft materials. Well, we've have the K9 B bed for over a year now, and though he's tried, the bed still looks as good as new (especially after laundering). He's happy to have a comfy bed (will go in is open crate to take naps on his K9-B bed, so we know he likes it) and we're happy that he has a comfy and safe place to put his head down. Washes beautifully, outlasts my Airedale Terrier and looks great (we got the red one). Totally worth every penny!!! Now, if you could just make toys out of the ballistic nylon, we could actually have soft toys in the house to play with (hint, hint).

  • Great, Durable Bed Review by Angela (Posted on 8/9/2015)
    Overall Quality
I purchased the large Orthopedic TUFF Bed for my 110 lb lab in June 2015. After giving it 30+ days of testing, I have to say this is the most durable dog bed I have ever purchased. Well worth the money! With a lab and Huskey taking over the house, beds do not usually last more than a week. (The amount of money I've spent on replacing the beds in the past year is ridiculous!) Super happy, excited, impressed...you name it...that they haven't been able to destroy this bed. The only complaint is that the fabric is noisy. We can hear the lab move about the bed at night so before he goes to sleep, I have to lay a blanket on top. Another suggestion (or plea) for K-9 Ballistics: please make dog toys!!! I would love to find some toys that my babies do not tear up within 15 minutes!

K9 RESPONSE: We're making a new style of ultra durable bed called the TUFF/LUX Bed, which mixes all the toughness of the Chew Proof Ripstop material with the quiet comfort of the LUX Series dog beds. Stay tuned for this new style cover which should eliminate the noise of your dog's paws on the bed.

Its a shame my dog won't lay on the bed, no fault of the company. She is used to a soft bed this bed is stiff, again my fault. You can tell the bed is very well made, I love the fact her name is on the bed and yes I would buy from this company again you can see the quality put in it, but I would chose a softer bed for her.

K9 RESPONSE: Hi Joan, give your dog a couple more days to get used to the new bed! Sometimes dogs are just shy around new additions to the home. You can try draping the old bed's cover over the new bed to create familiarity. You can also play with your dog on and around the new bed. This helps get your scent on the new cover and put your dog at ease, and also help break the ice for the new addition to the home.

Just received the orthopedic tuff bed. I love it and my big old pitbull loves it! He ruined his last bed before he ever slept in it. This one is a keeper! Excellent construction in every way. No zipper for him to chew. Best decision I ever made. Thank you and the 90 day guarantee is what sold me. He has no interest in chewing but just loves to sleep on it! He dug through my microfiber sofa but this material will hold up perfectly.

I am so happy with this purchase. My 7 year old Golden Retriever, Chloe, has never met a bed she couldn't destroy...until now! This bed passed the ultimate test--it lasted through a 10 day stay at the Doggie Hotel where, in the past, Chloe has managed to destroy just about EVERY material she comes in contact with--beds, blankets, rubber flooring, heavy plastic curtain doors. You name it, she tears it apart. I just picked her up and her bed is in perfect shape. I can't even tell if she TRIED to chew it! The kennel owner was very impressed. This was money well spent.

This is the second purchase I've made from your company, the first being a cover for my German Shepherd's other bed. I purchased the TUFF bed for his "puppy playpen". We haven't put the bed into it yet because the playpen needs some refurbishing, but the bed seems to be wonderful! He paws at it and tries to chew the lettering, but he always does that when something new arrives. He'll eventually stop being a goofball with it and use it for what it was meant for. We've gone through a few beds in his short 16 month old life, and the material for both purchases have stood up well against his digging and chewing. I will never buy anything else for him.
  • Orthopedic TUFF Bed, aka World's Most Expensive Chew Toy Review by rich (Posted on 7/16/2015)
    Overall Quality
We purchased an Orthopedic TUFF Bed for our Shih-Tzu, in the hope that, although expensive, this bed would last for many years. We are disappointed that it lasted 18 months, as he has chewed completely thru the cover and into the foam, rendering it unsafe. He is a small dog, and so larger breeds could rip it to shreds in short order.

If the Orthopedic TUFF Bed was an inexpensive product, we would not regret the purchase. However, as it is, we do. Response from K9 Ballistics has not been forthcoming following an inquiry a few days ago.

    Caveat Emptor.

    Overall Quality
My 12 year old Lab loves this bed! He sleeps great and has extra energy again, and he hasn't put any holes in it yet. He usually leaves a bed alone until it gets a snag or a hole, but then he picks at it and won't leave it alone. Some beds have only lasted a week or two (he's tall and about 100 lbs. so they tear sometimes with his size if he jumps across them), but the K9 Ballistics Orthopedic TUFF Bed has been holding up great. It's nice to see him so comfortable and refreshed!

We have a Great Dane who is so spoiled he won't sit or lay down on anything other then his orthopedic K-9 ballistics bed! It was a large financial investment but has been completely worth it. We have had it almost 2 years, it gets hours of use daily and hasn't shown even the slightest sign of use. I am guilty of snuggling with our Dane on his bed as well! We ended up purchases another orthopedic bed for our upstairs as well as a crate mat and we love them all!

My two female dogs are half collie and half basset hound, they have destroyed 12 beds in 3 years, chewed and shredded.....I took a chance on this bed, and so far, they have not touched it. It's the orthopedic with memory foam, one solid piece, canvas cover is NOT plush, but who cares, they like the bed....and even though it was well over 200 bucks, it's half of what I've put into beds that they have eaten. Hope this trend holds, because if they chew THIS bed, I am out of options.

My 9 month German Shepherd has destroyed everything left in her 5' x 5' kennel area for bedding while I'm working. I was hesitant about making the purchase assuming this would not fair well like everything else I've tried. Due to the compression of the padding in shipping I did not let her near the bed for at least 12 hours (fearing anything not fitting snug would become an opportunity for disaster). She is on her 2nd week with the bed and I'm very pleased to see she has not been able to chew the cover or access the foam padding. I find the bed moved around which tells me she is giving it her best shot.... For now it is 1-0 Tuff Bed

I purchased this bed because of the 120 DAY WARRANTY they proudly offer. I spoke with Amberlee on the phone and she assured me that this was a very tough bed and that it had a warranty so I felt very good about spending $200 for this bed. My dog had it for 1 day and he managed to openen up the Velcro and chewed it up. I gave them a call and sent them an email and they replied very quickly. I was told that they were going to send me another bed and to just DOUBLE UP the cover and this would fix the problem. I received the replacement extremely quick and doubled up the cover. Unfortunately my dog chewed through BOTH covers. I'm going to give them 2 stars only because they were very quick to exchange it the first time.

The bed is big enough for my dog to stretch out on, he doesn't sleep curled up in a ball. I have a 12 year old German Shepherd that has arthritis. He is of course past the chewing and thrashing the bed stage. My problem with previous beds was finding one that was easy to clean without the fur sticking to it. And of course orthopedic support for my senior. This solves my problem. I purchased two beds, one for inside and one for the patio. I also have a 5 year old Rottweiler, they both can fit comfortably on the bed outside. Inside she claimed the sofa as her bed. They stay out during the day, in at night. Thanks!

These beds are excellent quality. I bought 2 - one for each dog. I think our chewer has finally found his match. While he was able to tear substantial holes in 2 corners on both beds it appears he stopped there and gave up. Had it been any "big box" store bed he would have all the fiberfill out of the bed on the first evening. I'm going to give him a few more days to see if destroys more before I send in a photo for the warranty replacements but it looks like he has given up. I highly recommend these beds!

My 2 boxers have chewed up numerous beds, and I have now had 2 of these beds more than 2 years. I am just now about to order a replacement cover for 1 of the 2, it's used so much that the tough thick nylon material is wearing thin...........but this is not a knock on the material, this bed gets tons of use, and every time my 85lb boxer goes to lay down, he insists in pawing/clawing at it first......and it's held up for this long, I'm a believer now.

I was very happy with the transaction, the customer service. My dog seems happy with it too. BUT... I say that I was very happy with the bed, until my dog pee'd on it and it went right through the tuff cover and the under layer cover. I couldn't believe that it went through 2 separate layers. This was a large expense and expected that these covers would do a better job protecting the bed. Too bad because my dog seems really comfortable on the bed.

We bought two orthopedic beds: one tuff bed for our "digger" and the soft denim for our lab. They fight over the denim bed; The Lab growls at Sally if she's laying on the denim bed until she gets off of it. We're either going to put their old cover on the Tuff bed or put some kind of blanket on it. They will sometimes sleep on the floor rather than that bed. Delivery took a while...but we like the beds. It's just that the dogs don't like the Tuff bed cover!

I have and 8 month old Yellow Lab and he has destroyed every bed we have bought him to date. I decided to spend a little extra money since we were going through beds so fast, and since K-9 Ballistics gives the 120 day warranty I figured we couldn't go wrong. So far so good. It has been two weeks and my boxer mix has not attempted to chew this bed. I purchased the "original Tuff Bed" from K-9 Ballistics about 6 months ago and he chewed right through two of them. He likes to "de-stuff" things so I think it was too fluffy and tempting. This bed is more like a mattress and therefore, he can't get as good of a grip on it to chew. I can't say whether the trend will continue but so far, two weeks in, it is working.

We received our Tuff Bed about 1 week ago. Our Giant Schnauzer puppy was a little leary at first, but we would sit on the bed & let him lie next to us. He seems to be getting very comfortable with the fact that he has his own place. The material seems like it will be very durable. I also like the fact that it has a velcro closing. No worries about zipper coming apart & dog swallowing or replacing zipper. I would recommend this bed to anyone looking to have a good quality dog bed.

My 11 year old Dalmatian needed a bed, but none would survive his abuse for more than a few days - until now. I bought two Ortho Tuff beds (L and XL) and both are fantastic. Recently, after he went through surgery I spent a lot of time on the floor with him. I got the XL bed and he got the L. The beds were supportive and great at preventing stiffness. My lab and Rottweiler have not been able to do a single thing to this bed since I bought it. Other than lay on it like their suppose to. Worth every dime!

In under one minute, my 7 month old German Shepherd already had two holes it. When I took it away from him, he grabbed it again and within another minute has another larger hole in it. Going right back. Extremely disappointed. Thought I had found a safe bed for him.

Purchased 5 other beds that my pit bull puppy destroyed within minutes. Spent a lot of money before I found k-9 ballistics website and decided to give them a try. Well worth the price. My dog attempted to chew it originally but once she couldn't easily rip it to shreds she gave up. Happy to say she loves this bed and I ended up ordering a second one to put outside. Now recommend this to all my clients with chewers at home. You won't be disappointed.

I have tried numerous beds, spending hundreds of $$$ only to have them murdered by my English bulldog. The quality of the foam & cover are excellent. She is heavy & the foam doesn't cave in at all. The velcro on bottom of bed is genius she would always go right for zippers on other beds. We have had this bed for a two months now and no signs of any chew damage. My best investment.

Well, I love the bed and am sorry to say that it only took a few days before my little 30 lb fur baby chewed two corners. She is a notorious corner and seam chewer. Doesn't chew the middle of anything, but can take a seam out with the best of seamstresses!. She has stopped so far at 3 corners. Hope she doesn't get the fourth. This is a great bed and so long as we keep a sheet over it, she doesn't seem to chew on it anymore. Will send pics to you shortly.

  • Very tough bed, needs improvement. Review by Augsburg (Posted on 4/4/2014)
    Overall Quality
The dog bed's fabric is very tough & stands up to our Great Dane's pawing before settling. The foam padding is 1st rate and stands up to heavy use - unlike poly fiber fill. The velcro opening in the middle makes removing the cover to wash is very difficult. Please move opening to the end and use a zipper. The coating on the nylon fabric is a problem - it quickly disintegrates, making a mess when your take off the cover. Uncoated fabric would be better.

We've had the bed about a week now. My 90-lb incessant chewer and mouthed has shown zero interest in chewing this bed, She relaxed on it right away. Bed seems comfortable! Only drawback is the odor (like my own tempurpedic mattress had) - it takes a while to disappear - I let it air out a few days before letting my dog use it. Odor is faint now, hoping it will completely go away soon.

So far I really like this bed for our two dogs. We have one who is a bit of a chewer and one who is getting older, so this was a perfect fit to hopefully keep the bed from getting gnawed to bits and allow the older dog something comfy to lay on during the day. The washable cover is a huge plus as well.

I got my 10-month old cane corso 3 weeks ago. She had destroyed everything in her crate and had begun damaging the crate to get out. I have had the blue orthopedic tuff bed for about 1 week. So far, nothing in her crate has been destroyed or damaged, including the bed. She still doesn't want to go into the crate, but seems to be really comfortable now and a bit calmer! I hope this trend continues! I'm giving just 4 stars because it has only been 1 week. On day 91, I'll update the review...

Got an XXL bed for our 2 labs 1 1/2 yrs. ago, noticed a couple of months ago that it looked bunched up on 1side. I took it apart today, the top layer of memory foam has totally separated from the rest of the mattress. For the money that we spent I expected it to last a lot longer than it did, especially since only 1 dog actually used it. On a positive note, one of our dogs chewed through a corner of the cover in the first week, they sent out a replacement cover no problem.

It's hard to find beds for an 80lb lab/hound who will need support and a 30lb heeler/shepherd rescue that still wants to chew and both from the same company. The orthopedic bed has been widely accepted by the big guy and it was larger than I originally imagined and much less expensive than most similar beds. The little girl has her own original Tuff Bed which is like quick sand, once she lays down, she can't get up (in a good way). Only problem is keeping one out of the other's bed.

Very happy with the quality of the bed. We have a Newfoundland who slobbers, sheds a ton and loves laying in the snow. The one thing she doesn't do is chew, but I bought the tough bed because of the ease of wiping the cover off. Plus, she is getting older so I thought the orthopedic would be the one to get.The only problem is she likes a more cushy bed so I ended up buying a microfleece blanket to cover the bed with, so I guess I'll just wash the blanket more.

Bought this bed for my 7 month old Goldendoodle to use during his growing years. At first it was a shock when sitting on it compared to the old one I had been using and he wanted no part of it. Now that it has been in the house for a month it's like nothing has changed and he likes it. The bed, cover and orthopedic filling is great and you will not have buyers regret. I cannot do a review about any chew problems because Mak has not put a tooth mark in the bed.

I can't even count the number of dog beds, dog bed covers, blankets, and towels my German Shepherd mix has destroyed. When the Tuff Bed first arrived she wouldn't go near it for a week, but after we put a familiar blanket on it (and by that I mean tattered remains of what once was a blanket) she came to love it. Got this bed for my sister's Pitbull who tore up every bed she's had including the plastic tray in her crate. My sister put the Tuff bed in the dog's crate and she immediately attempted to destroy it but had no luck! I chose the orthopedic bed because her dog walks and sits funny...I think she was born with a knee or hip problem. Great bed! I love that it's an orthopedic bed due to the fact she just recently had TPO surgery so this bed will be great on her joints! Our latest rescue, a pit bull "power chewer", had totally destroyed her previous 4 dog beds - including ones touted as chew resistant. Although Bella's chewed on it a few times, the cover and bed show little sign of damage. I can't thank you enough! You've made a believer out of me.

I bought 2 orthopedic beds for my German Shorthair and 1 Yr old Dob because the Dob was tearing through MANY $$$ fabric beds. I will probably order the original ballistic softer versions to set on top of the orthos because the German Shorthair was used to slumber balls (as I am accomodating her with a pillow at night to rest her head). I don't mind spending money knowing it is not going to be a giant chew toy!

Bed looks awesome. Unfortunately it was too small for our dog, we need a medium size. As my husband opened the plastic bag to check out the foam part, not aware if opened it cannot be exchanged. (the instuctions chewed up-long story). I suggest a Sticker in color be placed on the plastic bag to remind customers if opened the item cannot be returned or exchanged. I bought a large for my cattle dog. It did not make it 30 minutes before he chewed a hole in one of the corners. He did work hard for it, but he did get through it. I contacted k9-Ballistics and they have been great! They have sent out a new cover. I did have to "convince" him to lay down on the bed because they did not want to. I took his old bedding and laid it on top of the new bed and he has taken to the bed very well. And as a added bonus, he is no longer chewing on the bed any longer!

I have a 60lb pit mix who is a giant pansy and demands that his beds need be be fluffed a certain way before he lays his preciuos butt down. He's not a chewer but a fluffer. This is something like our 10th bed. This bed seems VERY TOUGH, a little too tough in that my dog is not a giant fan of it because its not soft and he can not make it soft by fluffing it into oblivion. It's still not his favorite bed but he will lay on it if there is no other option.

We own 4 PitBulls and the youngest is a big fan if chewing dog beds, so after her 4th battle with the $100 bed's we decided to try the Ortho Tuff Bed, we are a few months in and not as much as a torn thread. The foam is very similar to, if not the same as a memory foam mattress. All 4 of our dogs fit on this bed and it is real good for our 13 year old.

We chose this bed because of the fabric & orthopedic support. Our Golden's rest on the hardwood floors because they're cooler than the dog beds. The Tuff Bed fabric is nice & cool for them verses a fuzzy dog bed. We did place a no slip rug pad under it to keep it from sliding on the hardwood floors. We are very pleased with our purchase & our dogs love it! Now we know where to buy the best dog beds that meet our Golden's expectations & exceed ours!

I bought the XX-Large for my two Springer Spaniels, and they have used the bed for two weeks now. They have been know to chew and tear things up, but so far the bed looks like brand new and they are enjoying laying around on it. It has become their favorite place in the kennel!

LOVE this bed! I have previously purchased two of the XXL original tuff beds for my Great Danes. I recently bought the orthopedic bed for Ramsey who is 8 yrs. old, 170 pounds. I love that the stuffing does not move around like the stuffing in the original tuff bed. I left the thick plastic covering on the pad to protect it from wear and tear.

This bed is the first bed our Black Lab has not chewed up. It is also the most comfortable bed we have purchased for her. She willingly goes to the bed and we don't have to clean up a chewed up pad, blanket etc. Great bed that actually works. Additionally, cleaning the cover is very easy as well.

My dogs are in love with this bed, and so am I! We have had it for about a month, and they have yet to even attempt to devour its contents. Every other bed we have EVER had has ended up in a pile of fuzzies all over our floor - but not this bed! It is also easy to clean. I only bought one medium size bed, and I am going to need to buy another (or two) as all three of them try to fit on it at once!

Purchased a large orthopedic tuff bed 6 weeks ago. It is my 3 K9 ballistics product but the first of this model - and it is by far the favorite of my Rottweiler's. I've had no chewing problems and the bed is exceptionally easy to clean. Great product.

I am buying a replacement cover for my Dobermans large Ortho Bed. I love this product. She is a big dog and her feet are bigger than mine. She digs on this bed every night before she lays down. The first cover lasted over two years. Wow! The toughness and slickness of material is perfect. The inside still looks brand new. A K9 officer at DFW airport recommended this product to me and I can not thank him enough. Thank you K9

I purchased my second orthopedic tuff bed for my great dane. The first one was put in her kennel, in an upstairs bedroom and I had a regular bed in our living room. My dog would leave us to go sleep in her tuff bed. So I bought another bed for the living room and she now stays with her family and has her tuff bed. What more could a dane want. Comfort and her family. I have had the first bed for over a year and it looks as good as the new one. They hold up very well.Thank you for a great product.

Purchased the XL ortho bed for my Newfie; we wanted the ballistic cover to protect it from our sheepdog-x who destroys everything. End result: Newfie loves his bed Sheepdog hasn't managed to put a dent in it. Fabulous! Caveat: putting it together was tough. The industrial velcro is brutal when trying to put it together. I had micro-scratches up my hands and arms for several days after putting the bed together. That said, the velcro hasn't moved, despite 160 lbs of dog wrestling on the it.

We have 3 big shepherds (100 lbs) who have chewed every bed except these. Got 2 crate pads & 1 ortho bed. All are still in great shape after 2 months! The XL ortho bed was HUGE! If your dog is not as big as a Great Dane get the L. We returned the XL for the L & it's perfect. STILL WAITING FOR MY REFUND after over a month! That's why I'm only giving 3 stars. Beds/pads get 5 stars! <p/> <span style="color: red;">K9 BALLISTICS RESPONSE - SORRY FOR THE DELAY, WE HAD TO WAIT UNTIL WE GOT THE XL'S BACK.</span>

We have Dobermans - more than 1 - they have destroyed every bed and bedding I have tried. We bought several Orthopedic Tuff beds and are about 6 weeks in and NO damage!!! These guys are champs at destroying bedding but I think they have met their match! I now purchased 2 covers for 2 of their crate pads of the worst chewers and am hoping for the same result. I love these beds and the Customer service you receive, Jody you are wonderful and so are the beds!!!!

Notes: 1) I ordered the XL for my 110+ lb dog. I probably could have gone with the large. 2) Cover appears to be very durable, but his claws make a lot of noise on the cover. 3) It is VERY hard to put together. It comes in two packages: one box for the foam rolled up, and a small pouch for the cover. My hands are still raw from being rubbed against the velcro trying to force the foam into the cover. It was quite a struggle. It would be very nice if it came with the foam already inserted. <p/> <span style="color: red;">K9 BALLISTICS RESPONSE - WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE COVERS BEING DIFFICULT TO PUT ON. Bought an XXL Orthopedic bed for my 15 month old Great Dane. This bed is so huge i could sleep on it with him. I have had 3 danes on it at once no problem. The padding is the best i have seen in a pet bed. Literally it's like a Serta Memory Foam Mattress. My dane no longer sleeps on the couch when i go to bed he only goes to his bed with out whimpering. He absolutely loves it.

I would like to thank Courtney T. in customer service for her willingness to go above and beyond their normal warranty for the Orthopedic Tuff bed I recently purchased for my "best friend". It took him about three months to damage the fabric and they promptly replaced the fabric under their warranty. I tnink now he has given up and been defeated as he now seems to be no longer "fighting" the fabric on his bed. You guys are great. I recommend K-9 Ballistics to everyone.

I bought this bed for our new American Bulldog puppy knowing I had to get something that would last. Great beds and wonderful customer service!! We are getting another puppy this weekend and will definitely be buying her a Tuff bed too!

My puppy was driving me nuts, having chewed up at least 6 beds in 4 months. This bed has been the perfect solution. He's a big-time chewer, but this bed is in the exact same condition it was in when I bought it 3 months ago. I hadn't intended to buy the orthopedic bed, but they were sold out of the original bed and had this one available for the same price. So now I get the added benefit of having a bed that is good for his bones and super comfortable! Absolutely no regrets with this purchase.

I bought the XX Large size for my English Mastiff. Now she is not stiff and sore when she stands up from laying in her bed. Why did I not find out about this bed sooner? The bed is much cheaper than a vet bill. The only downside is the noise from her happy tail smacking the nylon cover.

Our beagle is being potty trained and used the bed in her crate. After the smell of urine wouldn't go away, I decided to wash the cover. I discovered the bed had been soaking up her urine through the opening. I am not happy that I paid so much for something that she can't use, and she needs to be comfortable as she was spayed a few days ago. I bought one of these a few months ago, but I have 2 inside dogs. The German Shepherd is getting old and has the hip/leg problem bad. Unfortunately, the younger Border Collie mix is taking this opportunity to move up in the social order. Result 1: Lots of fighting over the wonderful bed. Result 2: Mom is buying a SECOND bed today. By the way... YES THESE ARE WONDERFUL BEDS. The Border Collie has always destroyed previous ones - he has never attempted this one.

My 5yr old Welsh Corgi, Blossom has destroyed 2 beds in the past. I decided to give her one more chance to "enjoy" a dog bed...not "eat" one. First week, she tried hard to destroy her new bed and got frustrated that she could not find a zipper. Then, she just walked away from it, exhausted from her efforts. It's now been 3 weeks and she actually walks to the bed, gets comfy and falls asleep on it. The bed is very easy to put together, too even with arthritis in my hands. Thank-you K9 Ballistics!

We just received the orthopedic tuff bed for our rescued separation anxiety beagle. Every other bed she has had in her crate has been turned into confetti within an hour, but this one has held up so far. I am very impressed. It really is odor proof & I think she actually likes the feel of the bed with its memory foam & is not as upset (salivating/panting) because of it. Time will tell, but i truly think we have a winner here!

I ordered this bed in place of the large original tuff bed, which was out of stock, and I am really glad that I did. My large greyhound loves it. I was looking for something with good support as well as something that he wouldn't chew to shreds, and this bed fits the bill. I have ordered two other K9 beds for some of my other dogs and plan to continue replacing the old beds. This is a great bed! Thanks for making something that truly holds up!

We got this bed in X-large a few months ago and are buying a smaller version of the same bed for upstairs. Even with two rambunctious, sharp nailed goofballs using it as a playpen as much as a bed it has held up. An utter pain to get the cover off to wash, but that also means it fits like a glove. My older dog seems to prefer this to the couch to sleep. To see her comfortable is worth the extra money.

I agree with most others who have left reviews, the bed is tough to get together. You kinda just hope you wont have to take it off anytime soon to wash it or something. Foam is very comfy.Unfortunately coverings corners were chewed open by 2 determined dobeys.Other companys beds are more expensive and they give no reason to believe they are as good or superior.A less determined or smaller mouthed dog might not have made it through.I suggest giving it a try and even if it doesn't hold up there is always hay which is warm comfy and can be changed out when needed. Also heard good things about cedar shavings.

I purchased two extra large orthopedic tuff beds and my two Cane Corso Pit Bull mixes. the dogs destroyed the beds. They chewed the beds apart at the corner seams then shredded the fill. Unfortunately, I left town soon after. By the time I arrived home, my 90 day guarantee was over. I could not return the beds. Woof! Definitely NOT chew proof. I was able to not only chew the corner seams but also did a lovely hole in the middle and rip out the foam cushion. It did not taste that good but sure was fun. My owner does think your company was fair in sending me new covers but now she puts a pillow dog bed on top of my newly covered ortho-bed so I can't get to it as easily. I sure like being on 2 beds! I guess I just like to be up high. I rate your product 2 stars and your customer support 5 stars.

90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee

All the strength of the Original TUFF Bed with a greater amount of comfort. When it comes to the health of a dog’s bones and joints, one of the best types of beds for dogs is the memory foam bed. The value of a “true” memory foam dog bed lies in how effectively the foam supports your dog’s body. It is easy for any company to claim that they make a memory foam dog mattress provided that they use a foam, but cheap foam can be less supportive than cheap fill. Our Orthopedic beds use a solid 5" thick foam mattress. The bottom 3.5” thick layer is a supportive high density foam and the top layer is a 1.5" thick high density memory foam. This provides support and comfort, minimizing pressure points on bones and joints for a better quality sleep. Less pressure points means better blood circulation which benefits the whole body.

A good night sleep is just as important for your dog as it is for you! Great for all dogs and a must-have for older dogs. Memory foam beds may cost a little more upfront but can be a great preventative measure to problems like hip dysplasia and other medical conditions later in your pet's life. It’s never too soon to be proactive in the overall good health of your dog. This bed includes our proprietary blend of double woven ballistic nylon so that your dog has both comfort and durability.

Durability

Chew Proof Rating

4

Moderate Chewers & Scratchers

Built K9 Tough, resisting 90% of chewing dogs, good for almost any dog. Backed by our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee, these are the bed covers our business was built on. Velcro closures replace zippers (bolstered beds have one hidden zipper on the back) and prevent emergency zipper related veterinary visits. Reduced seams and strategic seam placement reduce weak spots and if our proprietary TUFF flex Ballistic material wasn’t tough enough, we've upgraded it with Rip-Stop technology! These covers are water resistant, odor resistant, hair resistant, and machine washable. These are some of the most practical and long lasting beds available anywhere.
Size Guide

We recommend measuring your dog and comparing it to the dimensions of our beds to ensure the perfect size; every dog is unique. Measure your dog with a tape measure from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail. This is the minimum length you should consider for your pup's bed.
Technology

TUFF COVER™ TECHNOLOGY

ripstop tuff cover for dog beds

RipStop Ballistic Material™

The chew-proof ballistic material with rip-stop tech avoids tears, and prevents growth if they start. It is just one more detail that makes these beds tough as nails (and tougher than teeth!)

velcro dog bed

Velcro Enclosure

Our TUFF bed’s industrial strength Velcro closures are hidden on the underside of the mattress covers to prevent the urge to try and chew it. By using Velcro we remove the danger of an exposed plastic or metal zipper which can be an attractive place to start chewing.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reinforced Seams

We're proud to say our interior seams are double stitched and surged. This prevents snags, fraying, and damage from chewing.

Additionally we include a layer of material at the bed's corners. Corners are the first things to go when a dog decides to start chewing. By reinforcing this weak point, we greatly increase the life of the bed.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reduced Seam Construction

Right after corners, seams are the weak spots which dogs exploit most frequently in beds. By reducing the number of seams on a bed fewer temptations present themselves, and therefore reduce the risk of demolition!

water resistant dog bed

Repels Dirt, Hair, and Moisture

Tightly woven synthetic fibers make this bed chew proof, and also resistant to a wide array of other damaging forces. Water, dirt, hair, and muck simply don't cling to the bed and can be easily wiped away; after wiping with a damp cloth the bed often looks as good as new!

machine washable dog beds

Machine Washable

Accidents happen, it's a fact of life; Murphey's law if you will. Having a machine washable dog bed helps clean up those accidents quickly and easily. For those messes that do not wipe away, let the machine washer do the work.

We recommend washing with cold water on a gentle cycle, and then air drying. The heat and friction of a machine dryer could shorten the lifespan of the bed, and we want our products to last as long as possible!

odor resistant dog bed

Synthetic Fibers Resist Odors

The extremely dense synthetic fiber weave of our Ballistic Material not only stops moisture, but also odors! Dirt, grime, and even mold spores have a tough time sticking to the bed cover, and when these elements can't stick around neither can the smell.

odor resistant dog bed

Hypoallergenic Material

Dust mites cause a large number of allergic reactions for dogs. Mold and mildew spores can also trigger allergic reactions. The sythetic fibers used in this cover prohibit dust mite invasions, and make life difficult for mold spores as well. These allergens require organic fibers to build their homes, and this cover uses a 100% synthetic fiber construction. Dust mites beware!

ORTHOPEDIC MATTRESS TECHNOLOGY

machine washable dog bed mattress

High Density Memory Foam

Our orthopedic mattresses are made with two layers of foam: the top 1.5" layer of high quality memory foam, and the bottom 3.5" layer of support foam. Our memory foam has a 4.5 lb / sq. ft. density rating.

Other beds which don't use the bottom support layer often settle too quickly and your dog can end up lying on the floor. This negates the benefit of the orthopedic foam! We just couldn't settle for that. We decided to include firm joint support in the base layer and supple comfort in the top layer of memory foam.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Water Resistant Nylon Mattress Liner

The foam mattress is protected by a water resistant nylon cover which keeps the sensitive foam dry and odor free. If you've ever met a dog with incontinence problems then you understand how this extra layer of moisture resistance can be vital.

machine washable dog bed mattress

Joint Support for Large Breeds or Aging Pets

Large dogs often experience joint problems more frequently than smaller dogs, due to their increased size and weight. It isn't fair, but pet owners can proactively fight joint problems with orthopedic pet furniture such as our memory foam dog bed.

Our orthopedic beds can prevent joint problems, ease joint pain that's already begun, or just plain spoil your canine companion.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ballistic Fabric?

Ballistic Fabric is a thick, tough, synthetic material used for a variety of applications. Ballistic fabric was originally developed by the DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets to be worn by World War II airmen. The term ballistic fabric takes its name from the fact that it was intended to protect its wearers from flying debris and fragmentation caused by bullet or artillery shell impacts.

What is memory foam?

Memory foam is designed to immediately conform to your body and relieve pressure. Its great for puppies to help prevent future problems or older dogs that may be suffering form ailments like hip dysplasia. Memory foam quality is measured in pounds per square foot, the heavier the foam the higher the mattress quality. Our memory foam density is rated at 4.5 lbs / sq. ft.

What happened to the zippers?

In our efforts to make our beds the most chew-proof beds possible, we've removed the zippers and replaced them with concealed, industrial strength, Velcro closures on the undersides of the beds. Past versions of our beds had zippers, but thanks to some great feedback from our fine customers, we were able to spot this issue and make the change. Zippers were a weak point that appealed to chewing dogs, it was the first part on the beds that these dogs would go after and that was dangerous. What resulted was a design change that is not only more durable, but a safer product for your dog that reduces the temptation to chew in this area and potentially damage the bed.

What makes your ballistic fabric superior to other bed materials?

Canvas and fabric beds are not chew proof by any means. You have to remember, dogs have been known to chew through materials that you'd never even imagine a dog could chew through. Our military-grade ballistic material is used specifically for it's durability and toughness, which makes for a longer-lasting, chew proof product that outlasts other beds made from inferior materials. Most companies take an off the shelf fabric, one made for furniture or luggage, and use it on a dog bed. We've designed our own fabric built around the function of a dog bed. We've recently upgraded our ballistic material to be Ripstop, which means its now even better at withstanding moderate chewing and scratching. Our fabric is waterproof, so it can withstand rain, outdoor conditions with its UV protection, and pets which may be incontinent. There is nothing on the market that is built better. This is the best option for an all around durable bed. We have paid extreme attention to all the details.

Are your beds really "chew proof"?

To be fair, there's really nothing short of hard metal that is absolutely "chew proof" - dogs have been known to chew through kevlar, wood, bricks, chain link fences and light metals just to name a few! If a dog has the ability and wants to bad enough, they can chew through most materials. However, we advertise our beds as "chew proof", and we stand behind our beds as the most chew proof products available. Ultimately, what makes our beds "chew proof" is not only the materials that we use, but also our 90 Day Chew Proof Warranty!

My dog is a heavy chewer, which bed do you recommend?

The Cujo Cot should be the go to bed for all medium or heavy chewers. With our "No Chew" design, hidden fabric edges, and durable corner covers, and aluminum frame, there is nowhere for dogs to get ahold of the fabric on the bed. Once your dog is conditioned not to chew a TUFF bed or TUFF Bed Crate Pad can be added for extra comfort.

What if my dog does manage to chew up this bed?

We have a 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee on all Original, Round, Orthopedic, Mini TUFF Beds and TUFF Pads. If your dog does manage to chew through one of the TUFF Beds within the guarantee period, we'll replace the cover, free of charge. If your dog manages through our TUFF Pads or Mini TUFF Beds, we'll send out a free replacement. We're that confident!

Aren't all dog beds the same? What makes yours so different?

Our beds are actually built to inhibit the dog's ability to chew them. For starters, the covers of our beds are made out of military grade 1680 denier ballistic nylon, the same material worn as body armor by US combat forces! Unlike other beds, our ballistic nylon is far more chew resistant than cloth or other cheap fabrics that can be ripped apart at the seams. We take extra pains to engineer our beds with concealed Velcro closures on the bottom of the beds to minimize the dog's temptation and ability to chew in this area. Rounded corners and solid, well-sewn seams also greatly reduce the possibility of the dog grabbing hold of a weak seam.

What about cleaning the bed?

Our beds are super-easy to clean! First separate the cover and the fill and place in the washing machine separately. Close the Velcro on the cover completely before washing. Make sure to wash on delicate and cold. Air dry or line dry are the best way to dry the bed. Heat drying is not recommended. Please note vomit and urine have corrosive properties which can penetrate through the water resistant cover damaging the inner fill. Clean all urine and vomit immediately with a dry towel. Remove the inner fill and wash the bed cover using the instructions mentioned above. Customers in the past have told us that a deodorizer (ex. Febreeze) can take away the urine or vomit smell.

Is there any kind of assembly required for the TUFF beds?

Our TUFF beds require minimal assembly. Simply place the cover over the fill and close the Velcro. If you are having trouble placing the cover over the fill, try placing the cover on the floor (Velcro side up). Fold the fill and insert one side into one part of the Velcro. With one side in, unfold the fill while inserting the remaining portion into the second half of the cover. Close the Velcro and you're done!

Why do you cover your memory foam with a waterproof cover?

Waterproof inner covers are designed to protect the integrity of the foam inside. They help as a first barrier of defense against moisture. Moisture that may come from a wet dog, humid conditions, puppy accidents, or an older dog that may be incontinent.

Guarantee

Our Guarantee for the Orthopedic TUFF Bed

If your dog chews through the cover, it is covered under our warranty. We will send out, free of charge, one replacement bed cover (not including bed fill). This one-time warranty is good for up to 90 days from the day that K9 Ballistics shipped out your purchase.

If you notice any damage of our product resulting from chewing or scratching, we recommend immediately removing the bed from your dog's access. Some dogs like to eat their bedding, so for your animals' health we recommend waiting to reintroduce the bed when the replacement cover arrives and/or when the dog grows out of the chewing phase.

How to Process a warranty Claim

What we need to process a warranty is:
1. An email sent by the person who placed the order (usually you) with your name and address
2. A photo of the damage (you can also include a photo of the culprit if you like). You do not need to send us your bed or cover.

Send email with pictures to warranty@k9ballistics.com. It usually takes us five to seven business days to get back to you.

Warranty can be enacted just once. If you do not wish to enact your warranty, we can refund you 50% of the cost of the item provided that a picture of the damage is sent to us.
