  • love these beds Review by Kimberly (Posted on 12/26/2016)
    Overall Quality
so far so good, this is our 2nd bed , first one 4 years ago with our Boxer/pit mix and now another one with our new Mastiff puppy.
  • So far so good. Review by Lauren A (Posted on 5/24/2016)
    Overall Quality
At first they wouldn't go near them but now all 4 of them use them! They are holding up great so far! I also like that they are easy to wipe the hair off of! For someone who has gone through 5 couches thanks to my dogs and foster dogs I have high hopes for these beds!
  • Company stands behind product Review by ROY E (Posted on 5/3/2016)
    Overall Quality
Even though my 8 month old puppy chewed a hole in the bed cover he can't shred it like other beds we have tried. I give the bed cover a 4 star rating because he can't shred the cover and K9 BALLISTICS replaced the cover as their guarantee stated. It's always encouraging to find companies that honor their guarantee.
  • Toughest Pillow Bed You Can Buy. Review by Boyd (Posted on 4/15/2016)
    Overall Quality
My 18 month old Pointer has chewed on it many times when I was not paying attention and it has survived so far. The Blanket is also amazing to protect your flooring for those of you that have a high energy Dog!
  • Stella-proof Review by Jennifer (Posted on 4/5/2016)
    Overall Quality
Although we've only had this dog bed for 2 months, that is longer than all of our other dog beds combined. Stella, our 2 year old, deaf, white Boxer, is the love of our life. She is also a handful. She has destroyed 6 dog beds, one of which was an expensive down filled bed. I would strongly recommend K9 Baliistic beds for any dog owner that has had it with their dog's bed destroying behavior.
  • Best I've found but not Perfect Review by Sean (Posted on 3/25/2016)
    Overall Quality
Full disclosure, I have three bird dogs in the house. If they don't get enough exercise they can be quite a handful and they destroyed numerous beds before I found K-9 Ballistics. Know that a bored, determined dog WILL get through the cover. ...so be prepared to use the replacement (free) cover once you get a hole. Put your free cover over the top of the current cover! Once I have 2 covers on the bed I have yet to have a dog get all the way to the fill. 4 years of satisfaction so far!
  • Great Product Review by Maria (Posted on 3/20/2016)

This is the third one we have ordered 2 to cover other companies supposedly chew proof covers. Great product and customer service.
  • Love this company! Review by Rene (Posted on 3/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have one bed that I ordered a few months ago and still am in love with it. So I had a round bed that was in desperate need of a new cover, so I ordered the waterproof liner (I have a 15 year old and a 9 month old dog) and the cover. It fit perfect and I am loving that I know have two K9 ballistic beds that the puppy can't chew through!!!! I swear this company is a life saver with their beds. My 9 month old golden retriever puppy destroyed a regular dog bed I had and I was desperate for a solution. I ordered from K9 Ballistics and was skeptical of course, well when the first bed arrived, the puppy jumped on it, dug in with her front paws and tried her hardest to rip through it and couldn't! I fell in love with this product right then and there! The smell proof, water proof, stain proof feature of the material is also a plus, spring time mud just wipes right off. Don't hesitate to order from here!
  • Really Durable Review by Andrea (Posted on 3/15/2016)
    Overall Quality
My 140lb Rott/GSD grabs the zipper area of a bed and shakes the bed until the zipper rips and he can pull the stuffing out. He did that to one bed and so I couldn't leave him alone with a bed when I'm out of the house. His bed he lays on when I'm home with him he won't harm, its just when he's left alone. I bought this cover for a nice bed someone had bought for him but he busted the zipper after leaving it alone for a few days. He has chewed a pencil sized hole in it, but he has not been able to open the Velcro and destroy the bed inside. A++++ durability for the big dogs that are tough on things. He has tried to get it open because it will be moved around the house or sometimes he is able to bunch up the bed inside.
  • Very helpful company! Review by Pamela (Posted on 3/14/2016)
    Overall Quality
We received our bed and put it out for our Lab who has destroyed everything he sees. In two days he had figured out how to turn the bed over and get into the velcro opening to the foam. fortunately my husband was able to sew the small hole. I contacted the company and they immediately sent another cover with some good ideas on what to do to keep him from chewing through it, including putting the new cover over the old one. We did that and it's doing good. He loves the bed!! Doesn't hardly want to get up to go out to potty.

my year and a half old, German Shepherd has not been able to harm this cover. I have 5 covers torn to pieces, but yours does what is says it can do.
  • Party animals at peace Review by Marsha (Posted on 2/2/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have 2 party rescue pups who love to shred! I put the new cover over the old K9 ballistic bed which did get chewed just a bit .....but we caught it before it got too crazy! So far - so good - no shredding just peace and quiet and more toys for chewing to solve the shredding parties! Love the vibrant blue stripe color!
  • Can't believe it! Review by Karl (Posted on 1/19/2016)

I have a year old German Shepherd, that is the best test dog for your product! He has finally been stopped...by stopped I mean, he can't shred it like the 6 previous covers....
  • Great product & customer service Review by Sarah (Posted on 1/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
Ordered this bed with my youngest dog in mind after having given up on her ever having a proper bed. She deconstructed an expensive L L Bean bed (cover, stuffing, zipper and all) and, after many other incidents, I'd resorted to old sheets on the floor; even nesting the sheets in a large laundry basket was a fatal mistake for the basket. She did manage to chew a bit into the Round TUFF Bed Cover, but seems to have given up when it didn't bend easily to her will. K9 Ballistics replaced that cover and now, not only is the new one still intact, but my other two dogs each have TUFF beds as well. They're great outdoors and are softer and warmer than one would guess for such a sturdy fabric -highly recommended.
  • Perfect bed Review by Thomas R. (Posted on 1/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
This is perfect bed for my red Doberman. It took him a while to get used to as the velcro seal so well that it kind of balloons at firstl After a while, they air creeps out and all is well! Very tough material. The only downside is the noise. My Dobie is a nester so he walks around the bed several times before plopping down. The noise of his paws circling the bed actually drowns out the TV volume for a few seconds until he settles in. Overall he and I love this product. He has yet to chew this bed. Not sure if he has attempted or not but material is very tough and I think it discourages vs. encourages chewing. Very satisfied. Used my own stuffing as we had a bunch left over from another bed.
  • Waste of money Review by Kelly (Posted on 1/4/2016)
    Overall Quality
BUYER BEWARE! They may be made a bit tougher than most beds, but the dogs chew right through them anyways. I've tried 2 different bitter Apple sprays and neither deter my terrier puppy from tearing apart the cover and spreading the stuffing everywhere! I've gone through 6 covers now. Save your money.
  • Great bed Review by Richeys - Danna and Barkley (Posted on 12/30/2015)
    Overall Quality
fantastic customer service. Henry ripped open the Velcro on the cover after five days. K9 ballistics did not waste any time at all sending us a brand-new cover. It has worked perfectly for the last several weeks.
  • Warranty used! Review by Rachel (Posted on 10/30/2015)

Stanley chewed through the cover within the first week he had it. Fortunately, I was able to take the pictures and send in for warranty, and got the replacement within two weeks. Now his bed has double protection and so far so good without holes!
  • learned to love it Review by Krista (Posted on 10/30/2015)
    Overall Quality
Our vizsla did chew a small hole in the cover within 24 hours of getting the bed (bad dog!!!) K9ballistics acted on providing a free cover replacement-and it was simple to do. I just needed to take a picture and email it to K9ballistics. We doubled up the new cover and added a softer fleece blanket on top. (we think our pup was scared of the rougher material) Now our pup loves the bed!!!
  • Great company to do business with. Review by Melanie (Posted on 9/30/2015)

Our labradoodle chewed the opening on the first bed so I contacted customer service, and they were wonderful. We got a new cover, put it over the old one and so far no problems. Great company to do business with. Thanks, Sarah!

I ordered a bed and had the name Embroidered thinking we would have this bed forever. I ended up with a bad bed and contacted the company. The customer
Service was excellent and took great care to replace the defective bed cover. No complaints about this company it product at all. So glad we chose this company to go with for our dog bed! Would definately recommend to anyone!!
  • Finally! Review by Laura (Posted on 8/6/2015)

So great to be able to buy a cover, not have to replace the whole bed. Oscar likes it fine and hasn't been able to shred it despite his best efforts.
  • Thanks, Two beds & holding! Review by Christine (Posted on 5/8/2015)
    Overall Quality
Thank you for our second replacement cover. The first bed we purchased continues to survive, with two covers. Now that our second bed has two covers, it is holding up. Our Aussie puppy is still relentless and our Collie is thrilled to have her bed in spite of him.

I do remove the beds if the puppy is going to be indoors while we are gone. I also put their blankets on top of the beds at bedtime. In the beginning we did not put the beds out until the dogs were ready for sleep and their room was dark. We're cruising now.....
  • Great customer service Review by Doris (Posted on 4/8/2015)
    Overall Quality
My terrier rescue dog went through 5 beds before I landed on K9 Ballistics. She did chew several holes in the Round TUFF Bed but K9 Ballistics followed through on their guarantee and replaced the cover within days. They recommended putting the second cover over the first and using the bitter apple spray. So far, so good. She loves to curl up in this bed! Thank you K9 Ballistics. I will recommend your product to others.

  • Happiest Arthritic Dog Ever Review by JSL (Posted on 2/23/2015)
    Overall Quality
Dean, our shepherd, mix has been having joint issues since he was 10. Now 13 going on 14... looking and healthy like 7... this bed made a world of difference in his ability to move more easily in the morning. Dean is very cautious about new surfaces and he literally will jump on this bed like a child... I've never seen him like this. He wants to come in during the day to sleep on it... and this too is not "normal" as he loves the outdoors. I highly recommend this for older dogs. Dean is about 60 pounds and the 54" is big enough for him to stretch out... but it is a Big Round Bed so be sure to have room. Dean no longer chews, so not sure about Tuff cover - and I put a old comforter over it as it is easier to wash. Happiest Dog Ever. Thank you K9 Ballistics!
  • my dog loves this bed Review by Natasha (Posted on 1/27/2015)
    Overall Quality
We've had the bed for a few weeks, and my 85 lb. shepherd/lab mix loves it. The minute she comes inside, she heads straight for it. It took a few days for her to get used to it - it has a slight crinkling sound when she lies on it, so I think she didn't really know what to make of that. But once she used it for a few days, she was sold. She's chewed a small hole in the side of it, though saying that, the material is very tough, but she's got serious teeth, and k-9 replaced it right away. Great customer service. I'd recommend the bed highly.

Well my dog go into the velcrow section and destroyed the stuffing, they shipped out a replacement real fast and told be to double up on cover and put the first Velcro side down then wrap around second cover, so far so good he has not destroyed yet.
  • Business Manager Review by Shelley (Posted on 12/28/2014)
    Overall Quality
Amazed to see all 4 beds in tact with NO HOLES or tears after 30 days. That may not seem like much time, but there are 2 very busy border collies on the ranch where I work - I have purchased 8 beds in the last YEAR - much to the delight of our 1 year old puppy. He has devoured every one, yet these beds do not interest him. He actually sleeps on them! I wish I had discovered them a year ago...better late than never - excellent customer service also! Thank you K9 Ballistics for a fantastic product!

  • So far so good... Review by Laurie (Posted on 12/7/2014)
    Overall Quality
I bought covers because my chewer destroyed two new LL Bean bed covers in days without damaging the inserts. The covers have been on for two weeks and our chewer has not chewed them at all, though there has been plenty of scratching and digging without damage. Both dogs seem to like them. An upside is that hair does not stick to them. The only downside is that the nylon fabric is noisy when the dogs move around, but it's a small trade-off. Fingers crossed it stays this way...

Our new Lab puppy loves his new bed. I was worried that it wouldn't be comfortable because of the techie material but he is in love! We are so happy with it and the print looks great!
  • Not even water resistant! $$$$ and not worth it Review by Chicken's Mom (Posted on 11/30/2014)
    Overall Quality
I bought this because the picture showed water droplets rolled right off but it is easily water soaked. I mis-read the description as water proof instead of resistant! Overpriced and smells like a cargo ship from China. My dogs learned not to chew/destroy things long ago so that is not an issue. Material is very stiff - the dogs avoid it. I am going to try waterPROOFING products to put on it & figure out a way to make it comfortable so my $70 is not completely wasted.

I had already been through 3 sets of other beds for my 65 and 50 lb 10 month old puppies when I ordered K9 beds. My 65 lb pup figured out how to get through the velcro and tore up the inside of one the beds. I contacted K9 and they immediately sent out a replacement bed and suggested that I double bag the beds. That did the trick! They cannot get through anymore and I am so happy with this product and the customer service is amazing!

Began using our new bed the minute it arrived for our Rottie. She has chewed & eaten every bed we have had for the past 2 years!! So far she hasn't even tried this one except for lying in her crate! Great bed! Have ordered another for sharing with our German Shepherd and Boston Terrier! I love the selection of colors, too!

  • Dog Loathes Bed Cover Review by Jennifer Hunt (Posted on 8/8/2014)
    Overall Quality
My 6 months year old Doberman Pinscher would not get near his round tuff bed with the bed cover. He found it so unattractive that he would barely give smell it, much less use it. Without the cover, the tuff bed is of course useless as a Doberman Pinscher will destroy it in five minutes. Worst of all I could not return the bed only the cover which ended up a loss of postage plus the cost of the bed.
  • No match for Mia! Review by Cherrie Lucas (Posted on 8/5/2014)
    Overall Quality
I was hopeful that this was the one thing that Mia wouldn't be able to chew throughナ..wrong! In two days she chewed a hole right in the middle of it! I have taken a picture of said hole with said culprit (Mia the mini dachshund) and will be sending it in for my one time replacement :)
  • Round Tuff Bed & Cover Review by Julie (Posted on 7/15/2014)
    Overall Quality
My dod isn't an incessant chewer and will go months without chewing up his bed, which is a very gradual process for him. He didn't really seemed thrilled with his new bed as it was not soft and cuddly, but quite stiff. He eventually started to go on it and on the third day he had chewed a hole on the top seam. I spoke to the office today and sent them a photo of the damage and they said that they would send out another cover. I don't have high hopes. Canine Crazy, Julie B

I have a dog who is definitely a heavy chewer. After going through every bed on the market, none of them lasted more than about 3 months. Then I found K9 Ballistics. My first bed from K9 lasted over a year and I just purchased my second Tuff Bed from them. Love these products.

These covers are great! My crazy dogs were able to bite a small tear in the first set but then we got our replacement covers immediately and they have not bothered since! It must be so difficult to rip they just don't want to bother anymore because they usually take great pride in their ability to destroy! Very happy with these beds and will always use them in the future! Thank you K9 Ballistic!
  • Tenacious Puppy Perfect Review by Jill (Posted on 6/14/2014)
    Overall Quality
Our 5-month old Boston Terrier LOVES his new Round Tuff Bed! He tosses it, digs in it, sleeps on it (and occasionally pees on it) and it comes back for more. In the three months we've had Hugh he's destroyed about a bed a month. But the K9 Ballistic's bed is holding up admirably. Money well spent.
  • Round Tuff Bed Cover Review by Denise Pazda (Posted on 5/31/2014)
    Overall Quality
This cover did not last even 24 hours. I have a 50 lb rescue mixed breed dog who chewed through the cover, then through the lining of the stuffing and there was blue stuffing everywhere. I am supposed to be getting a cover replacement, but not any replacement for the filler or its cover. I still don't have the replacement cover. So I have spent over $100.00 in mid July, its not August 5th and have nothing to show for it. Extremely disappointed and feel it was very false advertising.

We bought dozens of beds for our three WMDs (Weapons of Mattress Destruction) and it usually takes a few days for the beds to be trashed. The dogs were able to get through the first set of K9 Ballistic beds, but using the old covers inside their cheerfully replaced new beds has made for a durable combination. These beds are awesome, and they stand behind their product! Thank you!

We have had the bed for almost 2 weeks and it is still in perfect condition. I have a 7lbs Pomeranian and a 65lbs PitBull. In the past they "tag teamed" dog beds and I have had some that did not last 1 hour. I am more than pleased and have been recommended K-9 Beds
  • As good as it gets Review by Maureen (Posted on 3/16/2014)
    Overall Quality
Good product and excellent service. Our dog (a master of destruction--has destroyed 20+ Costco beds) did destroy the first cover within two weeks (a record for durability!) and K9 cheerfully replaced including the monogramming, no questions asked. We are holding steady on the second cover. I think this is as good as it gets, unless we give him a cement block to sleep on. We appreciate the great customer service.
  • Best so far Review by Richard (Posted on 3/14/2014)

Our loving golden is the best dog ever, but gets it in his furry brain to chew he bed occasionally. The bed held up for more than 3 months, then he really went at it, and managed a couple holes. The cover was cheerfully replaced. We soaked it in vinegar first. So far so good. It's a pretty good product, but more importantly they stand behind the product.

  • Another one bites the dust.. Review by Gail Nishimura (Posted on 2/12/2014)
    Overall Quality
I purchased this bed based on the high reviews found on Amazon. Unfortunately, this did not stand-up to my Beagle's chewing prowess. In the first hour, she chewed a hole in the cover. K9 did promptly send me a replacement cover and I put that over the old one as well as sprayed the bitter spray - she still chewed through and happily pulled out the stuffing. On a more positive note, I do think the super strong velcro rather than a zipper was a smart design move.

  • Tough material, but no match for chewing lab Review by adam (Posted on 2/12/2014)
    Overall Quality
In a day he had a hole in the cover, in a week 5 holes. Bitter apple seemed to help. Never attempted to chew the bed itself, only had interest in the cover. We got the second cover with the warranty at no charge. Going to wait until he is a little older and his teeth are not as sharp until we try the second cover. If you find yourself looking for something like this, you may not have any better options. Bad chewers will still damage the bed, but it did hold up better than anything else we tried.
  • Still in one piece! Review by Tamara Meyers (Posted on 2/8/2014)
    Overall Quality
We have gone through 3 of the Costco round beds, My cattle dog/ Pit Bull cross loves to rip a hole in them, then pull the stuffing out. We bought one more Costco bed and covered it with the round Tuff Bed cover. So far, no chewing or bed disembowelment! My German Shepherd doesnt like the feel of the material and wont lay on it, so that would be my only complaint. Other than that, I am very pleased!
  • Too good to be true Review by PJ (Posted on 2/6/2014)
    Overall Quality
I know nothing is chew proof. I know that with time my dogs will probably chew through any bed. I also know my dogs took almost 3 weeks to get through their previous cheapo bed. It took one of them less than an hour to chew a silver dollar sized hole in the side. Really?! The fabric isn't all that durable and the rip-stop material didn't appear to help stop the spread of the hole. The customer service was good but, it doesn't matter when the product oversells itself.
  • XL Round Ortho Bed Review by Waite Family (Posted on 1/26/2014)
    Overall Quality
Our 9 year old Great Dane is not a chewer, just a very big girl. We chose this bed for the orthopedic comfort it could provide to her. So far, so good. She seems very comfortable and well rested. The bed is very well constructed and the cover seems quite durable. Due to her size, I wish the memory foam was a little thicker for her but we will see how it wears. Overall, currently very pleased with the bed!
  • Round - no corners to chew! Review by John (Posted on 1/23/2014)

Mr. Capone (2 year old English Bulldog) previously had a rectangular K9 basslistic bed and it lasted quite a while, but he was able to chew up all four corners. So far the round one is working better, and I'm doing a better job of keeping an eye on him to prevent him from attempting to chew it. He loves the comfort of his bed. We both highly recommend it!
  • NO GOOD Review by Adam Feldman (Posted on 1/22/2014)
    Overall Quality
HORRIBLE My year old 25 pound destroyed the first cover the first night she had it. We got our one free cover and they told me to use bitter pale spray to help assist. This did not work. This cover did last longer but only by 24 hours. The second cover lasted 2 nights and was torn worst than the first one. We have had many beds for her so thought this indestructible one would be the best bet, we figured $80 would be worth it. Nope, should have just given my dog $80 to eat!!!
  • Tuff Stuff Review by Jane Roybal (Posted on 1/21/2014)

We have 4 dogs of various sizes. They don't chew but do scratch on beds before laying down, sometimes in excess. This has torn other bed covers and shredded inner covers. The Tuff bed cover stands up to its name and to their digging and scratching . It is great and holds up well to their torture!
  • Large pet bed Review by Susan (Posted on 1/18/2014)

We had the bed embroidered and it looks great. The color, fabric and dimensions are perfect and as mentioned in the written material. The stuffing moves like a waterbed and totally shifts when I or my dog get on it. I expected fluffy but probably didn't read the ad well. It looks good but our dog doesn't lie on it.

We have two Pomeranians, one of which has chewed up every bed she's had. She is three years old now. We bought these two K9 Ballistics beds and we love them! We were very impressed to see the quality of these beds. We've only had them a few weeks, but so far, she has been unsuccessful at any try to tear them up. We feel pretty confident that these beds will last them a long time!

No bed is truly chew-proof but this is as good as it gets. This is the fourth type of bed I have tried. With lesser beds I have found my dog surrounded by piles of stuffing. My dog was able to make a small hole - but the cover was tough enough that it protected the cushion beneath - I only needed to replace the outside. Inside is very soft but holds its structure - no stuffing to move around - no dip in the middle. Cover is well made and fabric is sturdy but comfortable.

Nice bed but Cody tore the cover the first night pulling it out of his igloo. Hasn't gotten through to the new second inside cover but if we are going to be gone any length of time I take the bed away from him. He loves sleeping on it and it is a nice durable cover and much better than any bed I've had and we have gone through many! Think I will get heavy duty upholstery material and make one more cover or just buy one more :)

Well Miss Molly managed to chew a hole in less than 24 hours. I was sent a replacement cover and received it immediately. I now have the two covers on but, am waiting for the right time to reintroduce this bed into her domain. If you have seen the movie "Marley and Me", then Miss Molly is the female equivalent.

Tuff bed is nice but not tough for enough two dachshunds. First cover lasted one night. Second cover lasted three hours. They haven't gotten through both at the same time yet. They love their bed even with the holes.

I found these beds four years ago when we got a chewer He did manage to chew a hole within the first hour however a replacement cover was promptly sent out. I did end up putting two covers on the bed which seemed to help. His goal has always been to get to the stuffing of the object he is chewing and the extra cover did the trick. I just ordered a replacement bed not because the first was destroyed but it had faded from being outside for 4yrs. and was just looking shabby.

We ordered the Tuff Bed Cover and filler for our 14-month-old Doberman pup who already has destroyed several "indestructible" pet beds in his short life. Oscar pounced on the bed as soon as we opened the box and stuffed the filler into the cover, wrapped himself into a ball and stayed there in (apparent) perfect comfort all evening. So far he has made no attempt to chew or eat the bed, which is unusual for him. We have our fingers crossed.

What I like best is that dog hair and dirt does not stick to this bed at all. I also like the velcro fastening over a zipper since my dog always chews on zippers and it is one less area I need to worry about. My dog was able to chew the corner of the bed but he hasn't continued to chew and totally destroy the bed. I was immediately sent a replacement cover at no charge so overall I am very happy.

Very good bed. Quality is great! However, our long haired dachshund figured out how to fold it in half and get to the bottom Velcro seam. He got through about 6 inches of the seam and almost got to the stuffing inside. We put it up until we got another cover for it. So far he has not shown an interest in chewing on it yet--might be the bitter spray, or he might be getting out of the chewing stage. I can only hope. My two weiner dogs seem to enjoy the bed quite a bit. XLNT SERVICE!!!!!!!!

My first bed from this company lasted my Great Dane over 16 monthsナa record because he would normally destroy several dog beds and a sofa or three in that period of time. I just bought a replacement, which has several great improvements including stitched-down filling to keep the stuffing in place.

I can't say enough about these K9 dog beds. I bought the crate bed several weeks ago and it was the only bed my little beagle didn't destroy. I purchased this bed for his 1st birthday so he can be comfortable outside his crate. No more fuzz and fibers all over my house. If your on the fence, just get one! You won't be disappointed.

I thought my bulldog would not want to sleep in it bc it wasn't the cuddly fabric that I usually buy, and keep replacing when he tears them up. But, he's taken to the bed right away, and although I still I have the last half-destroyed bed in his sleeping place, I often find him snoozing in his k9ballistic. I'm very pleased with this purchase, very reasonably priced, free shipping, and a bed my boy likes (but not so roughly)!!

We bought three of the medium sized ones to put in our Igloo dog houses. They fit perfectly and the dogs love them. It is nice not to deal with rugs, shredded beds from digging, layers of different things trying to make a comfortable bed for our dogs. A couple of our dogs are getting older and it makes me feel good that they now have a comfortable bed that will remain intact. An excellent quality product and we are very pleased with them.

Got the bed a week ago to replace what the puppies ate. It took them a few days to decide that this was for them - the sound of the ballistic nylon was a surprise. So far they have not been able to eat it. We have four dogs -two 6 yr olds and two puppies- 11 & 6 months - the miscreants who shredded the previous bed. For some reason, the 6 mo old, who is house trained, peed on the bed twice. Luckily it is easy to wash and the nylon prevented the pee from soaking into the bedding - another plus!!

I have a chew proof bed and I also purchased a tough cover which I stuffed with old bedding from a demolished bed. These beds are the best I have found; they stand up to my naughty Retriever chewers. I confess, there is a small hole in one, but I patched that up without difficulty. The Labs love them. I love the durable, easy care fabric. At 3 years old, my doggie sisters are much less destructive. By the way, tons of outdoor exercise ALWAYS reduced the tendency to chew.

I first purchased this cover in 2012...within a few days my puppy chewed a hole. K-9 replaced it right away! However, he chewed the 2nd one too!Going through to the stuffing!! YIKES! Because the warranty specifically says 90 days & one time, I didn't bother to call again. He is only a 16lb maltese mix. I thought maybe it was because he was young & still needing to chew/knaw..i don't know it's my first dog ever :)) But the price I paid, should be better warranty if they state, "chew proof" right?

Had this cover for a month and my english bulldog has already chewed a hole in it. Granted it's a small hole and material is tough enough to slow chewing, hardly chew resistant. I am awaiting a warranty replacement, but obviously that will only last so long before he chews another hole again. In the future I may consider the crate bed but am a apprehensive about spending the money given the lack of chew "resistance" I've gotten with the tuff bed.
  • Weakness seems to be the velcro... Review by Julie (Posted on 8/7/2012)
    Overall Quality
This bed seems to be pretty good quality, but the velcro is the weak point. My bulldog's jaws of steel couldn't easily tear through the seams, but she did manage to open the velcro and, once that happened, she began to create tears all around the edges of the velcro strip. Customer service and replacement were wonderful, but bed number two hasn't fared much better. I'll try the crate pad (no velcro!) once I pinch enough pennies, but I do wish it looked more padded.

It is filled with the stuffing from her last two beds. Our other two puppies have chewed on the tag, but have done no damage to the cover. We will be ordering more of these!

Chew Proof Rating

Moderate Chewers & Scratchers

Built K9 Tough, resisting 90% of chewing dogs, good for almost any dog. Backed by our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee, these are the bed covers our business was built on. Velcro closures replace zippers (bolstered beds have one hidden zipper on the back) and prevent emergency zipper related veterinary visits. Reduced seams and strategic seam placement reduce weak spots and if our proprietary TUFF flex Ballistic material wasn’t tough enough, we've upgraded it with Rip-Stop technology! These covers are water resistant, odor resistant, hair resistant, and machine washable. These are some of the most practical and long lasting beds available anywhere.
Size Guide
We recommend measuring your dog and comparing it to the dimensions of our beds to ensure the perfect size; every dog is unique. Measure your dog with a tape measure from the tip of their nose to the base of their tail. This is the minimum length you should consider for your pup's bed.
Technology

TUFF COVER™ TECHNOLOGY

ripstop tuff cover for dog beds

RipStop Ballistic Material™

The chew-proof ballistic material with rip-stop tech avoids tears, and prevents growth if they start. It is just one more detail that makes these beds tough as nails (and tougher than teeth!)

velcro dog bed

Velcro Enclosure

Our TUFF bed’s industrial strength Velcro closures are hidden on the underside of the mattress covers to prevent the urge to try and chew it. By using Velcro we remove the danger of an exposed plastic or metal zipper which can be an attractive place to start chewing.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reinforced Seams

We're proud to say our interior seams are double stitched and surged. This prevents snags, fraying, and damage from chewing.

Additionally we include a layer of material at the bed's corners. Corners are the first things to go when a dog decides to start chewing. By reinforcing this weak point, we greatly increase the life of the bed.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reduced Seam Construction

Right after corners, seams are the weak spots which dogs exploit most frequently in beds. By reducing the number of seams on a bed fewer temptations present themselves, and therefore reduce the risk of demolition!

water resistant dog bed

Repels Dirt, Hair, and Moisture

Tightly woven synthetic fibers make this bed chew proof, and also resistant to a wide array of other damaging forces. Water, dirt, hair, and muck simply don't cling to the bed and can be easily wiped away; after wiping with a damp cloth the bed often looks as good as new!

machine washable dog beds

Machine Washable

Accidents happen, it's a fact of life; Murphey's law if you will. Having a machine washable dog bed helps clean up those accidents quickly and easily. For those messes that do not wipe away, let the machine washer do the work.

We recommend washing with cold water on a gentle cycle, and then air drying. The heat and friction of a machine dryer could shorten the lifespan of the bed, and we want our products to last as long as possible!

odor resistant dog bed

Synthetic Fibers Resist Odors

The extremely dense synthetic fiber weave of our Ballistic Material not only stops moisture, but also odors! Dirt, grime, and even mold spores have a tough time sticking to the bed cover, and when these elements can't stick around neither can the smell.

odor resistant dog bed

Hypoallergenic Material

Dust mites cause a large number of allergic reactions for dogs. Mold and mildew spores can also trigger allergic reactions. The sythetic fibers used in this cover prohibit dust mite invasions, and make life difficult for mold spores as well. These allergens require organic fibers to build their homes, and this cover uses a 100% synthetic fiber construction. Dust mites beware!

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ballistic Fabric?

Ballistic Fabric is a thick, tough, synthetic material used for a variety of applications. Ballistic fabric was originally developed by the DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets to be worn by World War II airmen. The term ballistic fabric takes its name from the fact that it was intended to protect its wearers from flying debris and fragmentation caused by bullet or artillery shell impacts.

What is "Hydro-fuge" Technology?

Our Polyester filled mattresses come with our ventilated Hydro-Fuge mattresses inside for good air permeability and heat dissipation. Hydo-fuge technology means that they have good water permeability (water passes right through them). They are also channeled to prevent clumping, and filled with our eco-friendly recycled fiber.

What happened to the zippers?

In our efforts to make our beds the most chew-proof beds possible, we've removed the zippers and replaced them with concealed, industrial strength, Velcro closures on the undersides of the beds. Past versions of our beds had zippers, but thanks to some great feedback from our fine customers, we were able to spot this issue and make the change. Zippers were a weak point that appealed to chewing dogs, it was the first part on the beds that these dogs would go after and that was dangerous. What resulted was a design change that is not only more durable, but a safer product for your dog that reduces the temptation to chew in this area and potentially damage the bed.

What makes your ballistic fabric superior to other bed materials?

Canvas and fabric beds are not chew proof by any means. You have to remember, dogs have been known to chew through materials that you'd never even imagine a dog could chew through. Our military-grade ballistic material is used specifically for it's durability and toughness, which makes for a longer-lasting, chew proof product that outlasts other beds made from inferior materials. Most companies take an off the shelf fabric, one made for furniture or luggage, and use it on a dog bed. We've designed our own fabric built around the function of a dog bed. We've recently upgraded our ballistic material to be Ripstop, which means its now even better at withstanding moderate chewing and scratching. Our fabric is waterproof, so it can withstand rain, outdoor conditions with its UV protection, and pets which may be incontinent. There is nothing on the market that is built better. This is the best option for an all around durable bed. We have paid extreme attention to all the details.

Are your beds really "chew proof"?

To be fair, there's really nothing short of hard metal that is absolutely "chew proof" - dogs have been known to chew through kevlar, wood, bricks, chain link fences and light metals just to name a few! If a dog has the ability and wants to bad enough, they can chew through most materials. However, we advertise our beds as "chew proof", and we stand behind our beds as the most chew proof products available. Ultimately, what makes our beds "chew proof" is not only the materials that we use, but also our 90 Day Chew Proof Warranty!

My dog is a heavy chewer, which bed do you recommend?

The Cujo Cot should be the go to bed for all medium or heavy chewers. With our "No Chew" design, hidden fabric edges, and durable corner covers, and aluminum frame, there is nowhere for dogs to get ahold of the fabric on the bed. Once your dog is conditioned not to chew a TUFF bed or TUFF Bed Crate Pad can be added for extra comfort.

What if my dog does manage to chew up this bed?

We have a 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee on all Original, Round, Orthopedic, Mini TUFF Beds and TUFF Pads. If your dog does manage to chew through one of the TUFF Beds within the guarantee period, we'll replace the cover, free of charge. If your dog manages through our TUFF Pads or Mini TUFF Beds, we'll send out a free replacement. We're that confident!

Aren't all dog beds the same? What makes yours so different?

Our beds are actually built to inhibit the dog's ability to chew them. For starters, the covers of our beds are made out of military grade 1680 denier ballistic nylon, the same material worn as body armor by US combat forces! Unlike other beds, our ballistic nylon is far more chew resistant than cloth or other cheap fabrics that can be ripped apart at the seams. We take extra pains to engineer our beds with concealed Velcro closures on the bottom of the beds to minimize the dog's temptation and ability to chew in this area. Rounded corners and solid, well-sewn seams also greatly reduce the possibility of the dog grabbing hold of a weak seam.

What about cleaning the bed?

Our beds are super-easy to clean! First separate the cover and the fill and place in the washing machine separately. Close the Velcro on the cover completely before washing. Make sure to wash on delicate and cold. Air dry or line dry are the best way to dry the bed. Heat drying is not recommended. Please note vomit and urine have corrosive properties which can penetrate through the water resistant cover damaging the inner fill. Clean all urine and vomit immediately with a dry towel. Remove the inner fill and wash the bed cover using the instructions mentioned above. Customers in the past have told us that a deodorizer (ex. Febreeze) can take away the urine or vomit smell.

Is there any kind of assembly required for the TUFF beds?

Our TUFF beds require minimal assembly. Simply place the cover over the fill and close the Velcro. If you are having trouble placing the cover over the fill, try placing the cover on the floor (Velcro side up). Fold the fill and insert one side into one part of the Velcro. With one side in, unfold the fill while inserting the remaining portion into the second half of the cover. Close the Velcro and you're done!
