  • crate mat Review by ann (Posted on 11/10/2016)
    Overall Quality
This crate mat is the best we have tried so far! our puppy was a fan of sleeping on the floor, and did not like any material we had tried previously. With this mat, she hops on in the crate and we don't hear a peep from her. She also never tries to chew or dig at it as she did with other materials. Love it!
  • Top notch product. Review by Joseph (Posted on 10/19/2016)
    Overall Quality
I purchased two of your Tuff Velvet Crate Pads, one for upstairs and one for downstairs. It's hard to believe that something so soft can be so tough. My Boxer puppy has not been able to rip it, and not for the lack of trying. The tie downs make all the difference, absolutely brilliant.
    Highly recommended.
  • 5 paws Review by Ruth (Posted on 10/18/2016)

After much research I chanced purchasing this tuff crate pad. So far it has withstood Abbey's destruction. She has been using it in her crate for 2 weeks. Prior to this she shredded a crate pad/day. It passed the test, love it. It also lucks & feels wonderful
  • Great beds Review by Karen (Posted on 10/13/2016)
    Overall Quality
It's only been a few weeks, but these appear to be the perfect dog bed. I have two large hounds who love to shred and we've been through a lot of beds in a short time. In desperation I purchased an expensive rip proof bed from another manufacturer, and while it was true to it's rip proof promise, it was cold and scratchy and loud, and neither dog wanted to sleep on it. (one actually peed on it!) My search for a better solution brought me here, and these beds have solved my problems. The girls immediately laid down on them, and don't avoid going into their crates. The beds are soft, and quiet, but very tough. I especially appreciate the tie-down feature that keeps the dogs from dragging the bed out of the crate - further reducing the chance destruction. I'm very pleased with the purchase.
  • Fabulous Review by Michelle (Posted on 10/11/2016)

Fit perfectly in crate, offer nice protection from cold floor (I crawled in the crate to test it out!) and dogs seem happy. Most importantly, no chew or claw marks!
  • Lasted longer than others Review by Jackie (Posted on 10/4/2016)
    Overall Quality
While I am glad I purchased the bed, it was still
not as chew proof as I had hoped. My Doberman (Achilles) got bored during the night about a month ago and did chew two small
holes in the bed and took out some of the stuffing. I turned the bed upside down so he could not get to them to make them bigger
but that was way to noisy so I flipped it back over and covered the holes with duck tape. I still though was pleased with the products
overall construction and performance, the regular store beds we have bought before don't even last a week.
  • I LOVE the bed. Review by Heather (Posted on 9/28/2016)

It has stood up to not one but 3 dogs! It’s still in one piece to this very day!
  • Absolutely amazing! Review by Jami (Posted on 9/23/2016)
    Overall Quality
Our dog, Charlie, has eaten any bed we put in his crate. He prefers to sleep on the back of the couch (he's a Rhodesian Ridgeback x St. Bernard so you can see how this would not be a favorable choice) and he has actually eaten our loveseat. We got our crate pad and he loves it so much he actually goes inside his crate to rest instead of the back of the couch! He plays at night and has tried but hasn't made a mark on it, and even when he's throwing a tantrum and trying to tear it up, he can't get it to rip. I'm telling everyone I know!
  • Absolutely THRILLED with it! Review by Andrea (Posted on 9/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
BEST INVESTMENT EVER! I have a large intact male GSD that gets very restless in his crate. I have gone through 3 beds until this one. Looks thin, but very comfortable. Came with zip ties to keep it held down which helps tremendously! He has not been able to rip it at all, not for lack of trying. I was nervous spending this much on a dog bed, but the way he has been going through them, it has saved me in the long run.
  • Would not reccomend Review by Michelle (Posted on 9/9/2016)

Not impressed. Thought for sure I found something that was indistructible, but...No. My lab had it ripped up in less than 2 days. Actually getting ready to send it back now.
  • Perfect Walter-proof Bed Review by Janice (Posted on 8/30/2016)
    Overall Quality
Our 6-month old Great Dane/everything mix, Walter, is a champion bed wrecker. Until now. We received our TUFF Velvet Crate Pad on Saturday and, since then, he has tried to dig and bite his way through it, to no avail. After each vigorous attempt, he gives up and settles down comforbably. I'm extremely impressed so far! We anchored it down to the bottom of the crate using the zip ties - in my opinion, these are a must so he can't lift the corners and start chomping away. We also purchased the Tuff Crate Cover, which looks great and makes a nice den-like atmosphere for him. On another note, within 5 minutes, Walter did manage to mangle the tennis ball that came with his order. Love your products. Worth every penny, and we're very happy so far!
  • Great thought- not for my pup though Review by Cybil (Posted on 8/23/2016)
    Overall Quality
I was really optimistic about this bed after watching the videos and reading the great reviews. I was even really impressed with their warranty and customer support. My boxer/lab mix was 4 months old when we ripped 2 holes in her first bed, and is now 7 months old, and ripped another hole in the replacement yesterday. I'm really upset that I wasted this much money on something that was supposed to be chew-proof. I understand each dog is different, but this sure as heck isn't for mine. The first time she ripped through it, I didn't have any zip ties, so she was able to flip it over and really get the leverage she needed. The second time, I zip tied it to her crate, bought bitter apple, and that still didn't help. I might just have a mutant puppy though...I bought her a toy made from fire hose material, and it took her less than a day to chew straight through it.
Generally, I really liked the bed. It was plush, just the right size for the crate I ordered, and really cute. I won't be ordering again until she's at least a year old though.
  • A Great Crate Pad Review by Ann (Posted on 8/5/2016)
    Overall Quality
So far, so good. We have a lab mix puppy who is a strong chewer, so we have been hesitant to put any bedding in her crate. She chews through soft toys in a heartbeat still. But she is now 19 months old, so we decided to give this pad a shot, so she's not just sleeping on the plastic tray anymore. We put the pad upstairs for a few days so she could get used to it, to make sure she wouldn't chew it. Then we put it down in her crate. It has been almost a week now, and she hasn't chewed it at all, but she seems to really like sleeping on it. I don't know if she's just more mature now, but there is certainly nothing about this pad that seems to invite her to chew on it.
  • satisfaction 100% for my American Eskie Review by mary anne (Posted on 7/31/2016)
    Overall Quality
I am soooo happy with my crate pad. I would tell all to use the tie downs with the same...it works! The first place she went to was the corners but with the tie downs and unable to chew on the same she
doesn't even try anymore. I have endorsed all i know to go to K9 Ballistics for the best of the best and great customer service. I definitely will be ordering again. None can compare to K9 Ballistics for sure.

  • Puppy loves it Review by Kathe (Posted on 7/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
Our puppy couldn't wait to lay on it right out of the box and it may be one reason she likes her crate so much. We take it to restaurants on the patio so she has a nice place to lay and since it isn't bulky, it's easy to take. I also bought one for the puppy's breeder as a thank you for keeping our pup while we were out of town and she loves it too.
  • I'm very impressed! Review by Sophia (Posted on 7/12/2016)
    Overall Quality
I loved the bed! The quality was awesome and it was so cute! My dog was able to chew 2 small holes 1" holes but I didn't tie it down so she was able to flip it over and get a good chewing grip. I emailed in and they sent me a new one the same day. And the best part is you don't have to send the old one back! So I can experiment with different deterrents and find one that works before putting the new one in! I would recommend this product to anyone! My dog is a TOUGH chewer and she barely got through this one. If it held up against mine, it'll hold up against yours!
  • Holding up well! Review by Kerri (Posted on 7/7/2016)
    Overall Quality
I am very pleased with this product so far. My dog had destroyed several other dog beds and crate pads prior to her K-9 Ballistics pad. She did chew a small 1"×1" hole in it the first day but that has been it. I will definitely purchase more of these products for my other 2 dogs!
  • Love it! Review by Elizabeth (Posted on 7/1/2016)

I love, love, love this bed! It is soft and comfy for my little miniature schnauzer. He has yet to chew through this bed and believe me he has tried! What a great product! Worth every penny!
  • Works like a charm! Review by Jessica (Posted on 6/22/2016)
    Overall Quality
I have a Great Dane who will chew and eat any bedding in her crate when I'm gone. She's eaten blankets and destroyed another brand of pet bed. I hated to leave her without anything, so I started doing some research and found these chew proof beds. I was a little hesitant because she has destroyed everything I've ever put in her crate. She is 2 years old and about 120 lbs. She hasn't even tried to chew this bed and we've had it for about a month. I am beyond ecstatic!! I would say this bed has definitely passed the chew proof test! Thank you!!!
  • Amazing!! Review by Hoyt (Posted on 6/17/2016)
    Overall Quality
My German Shorthair Pointer (1 yr) absolutely loves her new crate pad. She used to hate her crate and tear up anything I would put in with her. But as soon as we put the pad in, she walked right and and checked it out. Also, she gets very destructive on mornings we don't go on runs longer than 5-6 miles. Not only has she not torn the crate pad up, when I come home to check on her she's cuddled up and sound asleep. The crate pad is honestly worth it's weight in gold. We would highly recommend it.
  • Way too big Review by Erika (Posted on 6/15/2016)
    Overall Quality
I bought the toy dog sized beds and they were easily three times too big for the size crate they said they fit. They do fit perfectly in my medium dog-sized crate but now I have two of them for no reason.

K9 Ballistics: Please check the tag on the pad, or measure the dimensions of the pads you received, as it sounds like you may have received the wrong size by mistake. Please let us know if that's the case, and we'll make sure we get the right pads out to you!

My 7 month old boxer/lab mix was destroying beds every week - not this one. I see a patch where he tried to scratch at it but he must have given up...he loves it, super comfy and I'm not worried about him eating his bedding while I'm out!

  • Very nice! Review by Renate (Posted on 5/20/2016)
    Overall Quality
My 9 month old Lab mix has destroyed 5 dog beds to date, I had started making him sleep on an old blanket but felt bad after a few days because it just didn't seem comfortable :( so a friend told me about K-9 Ballistics and this is the 2nd one I've ordered and he loves them both! One for his kennel sleeping at night & one for the kitchen where we contain him during the day while we're at work. He's comfortable sleeping on both & when he's not using them the two kitties sleep on them too! Eventually I would like to get a regular "bed" for him and will for sure order from this site. I'm very impressed with the overall quality of both pads and the company in general. Thank you for an excellent product!!

  • Chief loved it so much he ate it! Review by kelly (Posted on 5/11/2016)
    Overall Quality
I had reservations about buying a $60 pad. 2yr old Chief has been laying on a bare crate plastic liner for months after shredding every pad he's ever had. So he loved the comfort of the K9 pad. It lasted 4 days before he chewed a hole in it, then another, then another. Stuffing was everywhere. I hoped it would be TUFFer but Chief won this battle. One good thing is that fabric doesnt shred like others. I ordered the one replacement pad under warranty and it hasn't come yet. The process was hassleless. I will try to spray it with bitter apples this time.
  • Holding up Review by TH (Posted on 4/19/2016)

This is the longest our dog has ever gone without destroying the bed in her crate. She has managed to put and few holes in it but has not been able to pull out all of the insides.
  • Doing fairly well... Review by Janet (Posted on 1/27/2016)
    Overall Quality
The bedding is working out fairly well….my dog did chew through one part and I have a replacement on order. It is currently back ordered but due in during February. My dog does seem very comfortable on it. It is pretty dirty now but I’m not able to wash it because I’m concerned the stuffing will come out of the hole. Overall, I think I am very satisfied with this item. I’ll know more when the replacement comes and I am able to clean it.

The TUFF velvet crate pad is perfect! It has held up great for a couple months now and my dog destroyed 3 beds before finally investing in this bed! Not only does it withstand my dog's chewing, it also is so easy to clean! I am very happy with my purchase! I honestly have no complaints about the bed, my pup loves it!

I am extremely impressed by these beds! I will only order dog beds through k9 ballistics from now on! They have made it longer than any dog bed I've ever bought. I've had them since the beginning of December and they are still great! Thank you and the rest of k9 ballistics for such an amazing product!
  • Much better than plywood.... Review by RC (Posted on 12/2/2015)
    Overall Quality
My persistent chewer keeps trying to chew up this bed but after one week she has only managed to rough up the soft velvet outer coating in a few places around the edges. I'd given up giving her beds, she couldn't stop giving in to the temptation to destroy them, regardless of sprays and scoldings. She had some straw for a bit but it was noisy and messy so I gave her a sheet of plywood which was not very comfortable but at least it survived somewhat. I am so thankful to have been able to purchase this product. It is not noisy and the padding is just the right amount. I am using this crate pad on a Cujo Cot inside a wire dog crate. There is nothing else that I could find searching the internet that would have survived this dog and made me perfectly happy. Hurrah for K9 ingenuity!
  • Great crate pad Review by Jackie (Posted on 12/1/2015)
    Overall Quality
My puppy has destroyed 5 beds in 3 months. I got the original crate pad first and she was not able to damage it but it does make an annoying noise when the dog moves around at night and I don't think she liked it much either. The velvet version fixes this problem! She seems more comfortable and it is much less noisy. She has managed to separate the velvet from the bed in one small area (on the seam) but it must have been hard because she has given up on it. The damage was not enough for me to return the bed but that's why I gave it 4 stars.
  • Bed is Nice Review by Cheryl (Posted on 11/23/2015)

I love the bed. My dog likes it too. She even had a taste of it. But, the hole isn't that big. So we are going to keep going and see if she will really chew it up.

Luxurious Quality. No Compromises.

It's finally here! The dog bed that combines all soft quality of LUX Series dog beds with the toughness and durability of our TUFF Series dog beds.

This bed is covered by the 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee against any dog-inflicted damage. The bed is also one of the most comfortable surfaces your dog will ever sleep on.

“How did you guys come up with this perfect dog bed?”

We're glad you asked! The idea for this bed came years after we had designed the first TUFF Dog Beds. A few customers mentioned that the TUFF beds were noisy, which kept them up at night when their dogs would rustle the bed. Later we designed the LUX Series Dog Beds, which were oh so comfortable and completely silent. Unfortunately the LUX beds aren't chew proof!

For several years there was no in-between zone of both luxury and intense durability. One day our owner, Sean, decided to experiment with new materials. He took the Faux (fake) fur of the LUX beds and bonded it directly to the TUFF material. This created a hybrid material that was soft, silent, and extremely durable. We like to call it TUFF Velvet™.

This bed features two separate materials to make up its unique look. The TUFF Velvet makes up the sleeping surface of the bed, offering a quiet and soft lounge for your dog. The base features our proprietary Ripstop Ballistic TUFF Bed material, with an elegant lattice print design. Ripstop Ballistic material has proven to stop most chewing dogs from shredding dog beds, and has served our customers faithfully for many years.

The Microfiber Synthetic Fur on the TUFF Velvet makes the sleeping surface cozy for your dog, and quiet as well. Dogs who are easily spooked by sudden crinkle noises can fall into this bed and completely relax.

This is the most advanced dog bed we've ever created, and we think your dogs will absolutely love it!

Moderate Chewers & Scratchers

Built K9 Tough, resisting 90% of chewing dogs, good for almost any dog. Backed by our 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee, these are the bed covers our business was built on. Reduced seams and strategic seam placement reduce weak spots and if our proprietary TUFF flex Ballistic material wasn’t tough enough, we've upgraded it with Rip-Stop technology! These covers are water resistant, odor resistant, and machine washable. These are some of the most practical and long lasting beds available anywhere.

TUFF COVER™ TECHNOLOGY

ripstop tuff cover for dog beds

RipStop Ballistic Material™

The chew-proof ballistic material with rip-stop tech avoids tears, and prevents growth if they start. It is just one more detail that makes these beds tough as nails (and tougher than teeth!)

double stitched seam dog bed

Reinforced Seams

We're proud to say our interior seams are double stitched and surged. This prevents snags, fraying, and damage from chewing.

Additionally we include a layer of material at the bed's corners. Corners are the first things to go when a dog decides to start chewing. By reinforcing this weak point, we greatly increase the life of the bed.

double stitched seam dog bed

Reduced Seam Construction

Right after corners, seams are the weak spots which dogs exploit most frequently in beds. By reducing the number of seams on a bed fewer temptations present themselves, and therefore reduce the risk of demolition!

water resistant dog bed

Repels Dirt, Hair, and Moisture

Tightly woven synthetic fibers make this bed chew proof, and also resistant to a wide array of other damaging forces. Water, dirt, hair, and muck simply don't cling to the bed and can be easily wiped away; after wiping with a damp cloth the bed often looks as good as new!

machine washable dog beds

Machine Washable

Accidents happen, it's a fact of life; Murphey's law if you will. Having a machine washable dog bed helps clean up those accidents quickly and easily. For those messes that do not wipe away, let the machine washer do the work.

We recommend washing with cold water on a gentle cycle, and then air drying. The heat and friction of a machine dryer could shorten the lifespan of the bed, and we want our products to last as long as possible!

odor resistant dog bed

Synthetic Fibers Resist Odors

The extremely dense synthetic fiber weave of our Ballistic Material not only stops moisture, but also odors! Dirt, grime, and even mold spores have a tough time sticking to the bed cover, and when these elements can't stick around neither can the smell.

odor resistant dog bed

Hypoallergenic Material

Dust mites cause a large number of allergic reactions for dogs. Mold and mildew spores can also trigger allergic reactions. The sythetic fibers used in this cover prohibit dust mite invasions, and make life difficult for mold spores as well. These allergens require organic fibers to build their homes, and this cover uses a 100% synthetic fiber construction. Dust mites beware!

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Ballistic Fabric?

Ballistic Fabric is a thick, tough, synthetic material used for a variety of applications. Ballistic fabric was originally developed by the DuPont corporation as a material for flak jackets to be worn by World War II airmen. The term ballistic fabric takes its name from the fact that it was intended to protect its wearers from flying debris and fragmentation caused by bullet or artillery shell impacts.

What is "Hydro-fuge" Technology?

Our Polyester filled mattresses come with our ventilated Hydro-Fuge mattresses inside for good air permeability and heat dissipation. Hydo-fuge technology means that they have good water permeability (water passes right through them). They are also channeled to prevent clumping, and filled with our eco-friendly recycled fiber.

What happened to the zippers?

These TUFF Velvet crate pads come as a single unit of ripstop ballistic nylon stitched around a polyester core, so there are no zippers or closures for your dog to target.

What makes your ballistic fabric superior to other bed materials?

Canvas and fabric beds are not chew proof by any means. You have to remember, dogs have been known to chew through materials that you'd never even imagine a dog could chew through. Our military-grade ballistic material is used specifically for it's durability and toughness, which makes for a longer-lasting, chew proof product that outlasts other beds made from inferior materials. Most companies take an off the shelf fabric, one made for furniture or luggage, and use it on a dog bed. We've designed our own fabric built around the function of a dog bed. We've recently upgraded our ballistic material to be Ripstop, which means its now even better at withstanding moderate chewing and scratching. Our fabric is waterproof, so it can withstand rain, outdoor conditions with its UV protection, and pets which may be incontinent. There is nothing on the market that is built better. This is the best option for an all around durable bed. We have paid extreme attention to all the details.

Are your beds really "chew proof"?

To be fair, there's really nothing short of hard metal that is absolutely "chew proof" - dogs have been known to chew through kevlar, wood, bricks, chain link fences and light metals just to name a few! If a dog has the ability and wants to bad enough, they can chew through most materials. However, we advertise our beds as "chew proof", and we stand behind our beds as the most chew proof products available. Ultimately, what makes our beds "chew proof" is not only the materials that we use, but also our 90 Day Chew Proof Warranty!

My dog is a heavy chewer, which bed do you recommend?

The Cujo Cot should be the go to bed for all medium or heavy chewers. With our "No Chew" design, hidden fabric edges, and durable corner covers, and aluminum frame, there is nowhere for dogs to get ahold of the fabric on the bed. Once your dog is conditioned not to chew a TUFF bed or TUFF Bed Crate Pad can be added for extra comfort.

What if my dog does manage to chew up this bed?

We have a 90 Day Chew Proof Guarantee on all Original, Round, Orthopedic, Mini TUFF Beds and TUFF Pads. If your dog does manage to chew through one of the TUFF Beds within the guarantee period, we'll replace the cover, free of charge. If your dog manages through our TUFF Pads or Mini TUFF Beds, we'll send out a free replacement. We're that confident!

Aren't all dog beds the same? What makes yours so different?

Our beds are actually built to inhibit the dog's ability to chew them. For starters, the covers of our beds are made out of military grade 1680 denier ballistic nylon, the same material worn as body armor by US combat forces! Unlike other beds, our ballistic nylon is far more chew resistant than cloth or other cheap fabrics that can be ripped apart at the seams. Rounded corners and solid, well-sewn seams also greatly reduce the possibility of the dog grabbing hold of a weak seam.

What about cleaning the bed?

Our pads are super-easy to clean! Since there is no removable cover on these pads, simply place the entire pad in your washer and wash with cold water on delicate. Heat drying is not recommended, but if air-drying is not possible you may tumble dry these pads on the lowest heat setting. The heat and friction of the dryer may shorten the lifespan of the material so this method should only be used when absolutely necessary. Please note vomit and urine have corrosive properties which can penetrate through the water resistant cover. Clean all urine and vomit immediately with a dry towel. Customers in the past have told us that a deodorizer (ex. Febreeze) can take away the urine or vomit smell; washing the bed with a half a cup of white vinegar will also help break down stubborn odors.

Is there any kind of assembly required for the TUFF beds?

There is no assembly required for the TUFF Velvet crate pad. Simply remove the pad from the packaging, unfold, and it's ready to go! If your dog seems wary of the new bed or likes to chew on new things, washing the pad when you first receive it can help reduce the dog's urge to chew it.

Guarantee

Our Guarantee for the Original TUFF Bed

If your dog chews through the cover, it is covered under our warranty. We will send out, free of charge, one replacement bed cover (not including bed fill). This one-time warranty is good for up to 90 days from the day that K9 Ballistics shipped out your purchase.

If you notice any damage of our product resulting from chewing or scratching, we recommend immediately removing the bed from your dog's access. Some dogs like to eat their bedding, so for your animals' health we recommend waiting to reintroduce the bed when the replacement cover arrives and/or when the dog grows out of the chewing phase.

How to Process a warranty Claim

What we need to process a warranty is:
1. An email sent by the person who placed the order (usually you) with your name and address
2. A photo of the damage (you can also include a photo of the culprit if you like). You do not need to send us your bed or cover.

Send email with pictures to [email protected]. It usually takes us five to seven business days to get back to you.

Warranty can be enacted just once. If you do not wish to enact your warranty, we can refund you 50% of the cost of the item provided that a picture of the damage is sent to us.
