This bed will arrive as a pre-assembled frame with the padded center already in place. Simply slide the bed out of the box, remove the wrapping, and it is all set for use.

The frame is made from 100% aluminum, including the corners (which are simply powder-coated black). The bed sling is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, and the inner padding is 100% polyester fiberfill batting. The ripstop fabric has both a PU backing to make it water-resistant and a DWR coating to repel water.

The Chew Proof Armored™ Dog Crate Pad is the only one of our metal-framed beds that is not elevated, relying on the padded center for comfort rather than a hammock-like design. It’s ideal for crate use where your dog may not have enough headroom to fit comfortably on an elevated bed.

As per the 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty, we will replace the entire armored bed once free of charge if your dog damages it within the first 120 days of receipt. Store credit for the value of the bed will be provided instead if a replacement is not desired or available.

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; velvet ripstop does not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed padding.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

 Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. Most soaps and detergents are fine, but avoid using bleach—it can damage the frame.

For a more thorough cleaning, you can disassemble the bed with a 4.5 mm allen wrench and machine wash the center pad. Wash with cold water on delicate and machine dry on low heat until it is fully dried out, then replace on frame.

This bed does have sockets for legs underneath the rubber plugs in each corner. All you need to do is pop those plugs out to expose the sockets, then insert a leg into each one and twist by hand until tight. This bed does not come with legs, but they can be purchased separately online or over the phone with our customer care team.

First, remove the plastic pan or tray from the bottom of the crate. Then slide the bed through the crate door at a diagonal. Once it’s in the crate, all you have to do is level the bed out and lower it until it meets the floor and it is good to go.

Yes, you can! This pad can be personalized with heat-transfer vinyl text.

To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the vinyl color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have personalized. Personalization is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

This bed is designed to fit standard wire crates but crate dimensions can vary slightly by manufacturer, so make sure to compare the actual dimensions of your crate against those for the bed size you’re interested in. The dimensions shown for our beds are exact, and due to their rigid frames these beds will not fit in spaces smaller than their size.
