Dog Beds & Crate Pads

We built these beds to be heavy-duty, so all of them are very durable. Even so, the exact durability of each bed will vary by its design. Our metal-framed Chew Proof Armored™ beds are our strongest beds, standing up to even the most determined chewers, while our Tough Ripstop™ beds will hold up against digging, scratching, and hard play. For best results, we recommend choosing the style that matches your dog’s destructive level.

We offer a 120-day warranty on both our Chew Proof Armored™ and Tough Ripstop™ series of beds. If your dog manages to damage one of these beds within the warranty period, we’ll replace the cover once, free of charge. For items that do not have removable covers, we’ll send out a full replacement.

Use the portal here to claim the replacement.

If you don’t want a replacement, we can issue you store credit for its value instead, which can be applied towards a different item on our site. Simply email your order number and photo of the damage to info@k9ballistics.com for assistance.

When deciding on a bed, there are two main factors to consider: your pup's sleeping style, and their destructive level.

First, does your dog usually sprawl out, curl up, lean up against things?

SPRAWLERS love to stretch out. These are the pups that will lay on their side, flip on their backs, use all the surface area their bed has to offer. We recommend our rectangular dog beds for this kind of sleeper.

CURLERS prefer to curl up when they sleep. Paws and noses tucked in to provide warmth and conserve body heat. We recommend our Tough Oval Bolster Bed or Tough Round Nesting Bed for a cozy experience.

LEANERS love the sense of security bolster beds can bring. They like to lean up against something and prop their heads on pillows. We recommend our Tough Bolster Beds, which feature raised walls for extra support.

For really BIG DOGS, consider our K9 Giant Beds that offer more surface area and an optional bolster. They are made thicker, with 7” orthopedic mattresses for maximum pressure relief. They come in two versions: K9 Giant Rectangle or K9 Giant Bolster Beds. We do have other beds that come in XXL sizes, but these other beds are 5" thick (or less).

Now, the above options are all great for dogs that like to scratch, dig, and roughhouse with their bedding, but if you've got a dog that chews a lot (and tends to quickly destroy their bedding), you'll need something stronger.

That's where our Chew Proof Armored Dog Beds come in!

The Chew Proof Armored beds all share one powerful feature: an all-aluminum frame, which guards every edge of the bed from damage. Even the corners are made from aluminum, just powder coated black for a little extra style. These are the only beds we have that are considered chew proof, and the only beds meant for aggressive or persistent chewers.

These beds all share a minimalist design, eliminating any easy targets that a chewer might focus on. We have both padded and non-padded options, elevated and non-elevated options, and three fabric types (rip-stop ballistic, vinyl, and mesh) to fit every need.

If you have a dog that has a history of chewing up all their bedding—especially if they do it quickly—then you're going to want one of our Chew Proof Armored™ style beds. These are our strongest beds, and the only ones that we make that are considered chew proof.* The frame is 100% aluminum, even the powder-coated corners, which protects the edges of the bed from teeth, while the fabric in the middle is pulled tight so that your dog can't get it between their jaws. If your dog likes to scratch or dig in addition to chewing, we recommend either the Chew Proof Armored Rip-Stop Elevated Dog Bed, or the Chew Proof Armored Vinyl Elevated Dog Bed.

Our Tough Ripstop™ beds, on the other hand, are heavy duty beds made to withstand scratching, digging, and rough horseplay, but they aren't intended for dogs that bite down hard and gnaw away at a bed until it rips. If you do have this kind of chewer, we do not recommend our Tough Rip-Stop style.

*Please note that no bed is 100% indestructible. Please keep persistent or heavy chewers supervised when first introducing the bed to ensure no issues, and if damage occurs, remove the bed from your dog's access immediately.

First and foremost, always check the bed's size guide! Some beds (specifically those with raised bolsters on one or more end) will have a sleeping area that is smaller than the bed's full dimensions. The dimensions listed on the product's page refer to its overall footprint, meaning they include any frame or pillow walls the bed might have. When considering what size will work for your dog, use the sleeping area dimensions, if those are smaller than the bed's overall size.

In addition to providing detailed dimensions for each bed type and size, the size guide will also provide a list of dogs by breed and weight that might potentially fit each size of bed. These recommendations are a suggestion only, and not a guarantee that a dog of a specific breed or type will 100% fit that size bed. All dogs are different, and two dogs that weigh the same may vary widely in what size they need due to differences in the length of their body.

For the most accurate results, measure the length of your dog from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail and compare that to the bed's dimensions. If you want your dog to have extra room to sprawl out, add 10" to your dog's length and look for a bed around that size.

Dog won't sit still? Instead of measuring them, you can also mark out a space on the floor that matches the dimensions of the bed size you're considering. That'll give you a good visual guide of whether it looks big enough for your pup.

When choosing a bed for your crate, the most important thing you can do is measure the interior of your crate first. Do not go off the dimensions the manufacturer provides, as they often round up. That means that a crate labeled as a 41" x 27" might actually be a 40.5" x 26.75" inside, and that will limit what beds might fit in the space.

  • If purchasing a Chew Proof Armored bed, please note that the dimensions listed for the bed are taken from the outermost edges of the frame, and the frame is completely rigid. These beds cannot fit in a crate that is slightly smaller than the bed dimensions, so it is important to make sure your crate is large enough to fit the size you want. In fact, for best results, you'll want about a quarter to half inch of wiggle room between the bed and the crate wall.

  • If purchasing a Tough Rip-Stop Dog Crate Pad, you have a lot more freedom since these pads are relatively thin and flexible. They can be rolled or folded to fit smaller or irregular spaces. Please just bear in mind that if you have a chewer, rolling or folding the pad can cause the material to bunch up and make it easier to chew on.

  • If purchasing a Tough Rip-Stop Orthopedic Dog Bed, you have a little wiggle room with sizing, but not much. The solid foam core is not nearly as flexible as the polyfill center of a Tough Crate Pad, and the foam can only compress about an inch or two. Larger sizes (XL and XXL) might only be able to compress a quarter of an inch, since they are much thicker and denser. Try to get a size as close to your crate dimensions as possible.

Please note that the beds above are sized for standard wire crates, so if you have a plastic carrier crate or a more custom crate, you will likely need to size down in order to make the bed fit. We do not recommend purchasing any of our regular beds for crate use, as they run much wider than a standard crate and will not fit very well at all.

That depends! If your dog is a nester who likes to sink into their bedding, you’ll want one of our pillow-style beds. These are made with shredded foam and have more give to them, although they are still plenty thick and will keep your dog from touching the floor. If you have an older dog with arthritis or joint issues, or a big, heavy pup, or even just a dog that likes firm surfaces, then you’ll want one of our orthopedic-style beds. These ones are made from dense, solid foam and provide maximum support.

Our Chew Proof Armored™ beds are hardy and will do best outdoors, but our Tough Ripstop™ beds are water- and dirt-resistant and will also hold up well outside. The only exceptions are our Tough velvet colors (Light Gray Velvet, Two-tone Gray Velvet). These ones have a soft and fuzzy surface, which can attract dirt and get crusty if left in damp conditions for too long.

Our ballistic fabric is a densely woven (1200 denier) material similar to that used in the flak jackets worn by soldiers during WWII. It resists tearing and punctures and will hold up much better against destructive behaviors than traditional bed covers. Rip-Stop is an additional feature that further reinforces the strength of the fabric. This grid-like weave of even stronger fibers helps minimize damage by stopping any small punctures from becoming gaping holes.

Our chew proof beds (also known as the Chew Proof Armored™ beds) come in five different types. All beds are sized to fit standard wire crates and all beds feature the same aluminum frame; the only difference is in the center material:

Chew Proof Armored™ Ripstop Elevated Dog Bed

  1. Bed sling is made from ripstop ballistic fabric
  2. Does not contain padding
  3. Has a waterproof coating on the underside to help catch spills
  4. Cannot be used without legs
  5. Material is breathable to keep dog cool in the summer
  6. Good for dogs that chew heavily and those that like to scratch at their bedding
  7. Works in any environment

Chew Proof Armored™ Dog Crate Pad

  1. Bed sling is made from ripstop ballistic fabric
  2. Contains about 1.5" thick polyester fiberfill stuffing for comfort
  3. Has a water-repellant coating to help protect against moisture, but not 100% waterproof
  4. Does not come with legs, but legs can be added to elevate it if desired
  5. Padding provides insulation against cold
  6. Good for dogs that chew heavily and those that like to scratch at their bedding
  7. Works best in wire crates and indoors

Chew Proof Armored™ Padded Elevated Dog Crate Bed

  1. Bed sling is made from ripstop ballistic fabric
  2. Contains about 1.5" thick polyester fiberfill stuffing for comfort
  3. Has a water-repellant coating to help protect against moisture, but not 100% waterproof
  4. Comes with legs, but can be used without them if desired
  5. Padding provides insulation against cold
  6. Good for dogs that chew heavily and those that like to scratch at their bedding
  7. Works best in wire crates and indoors

Chew Proof Armored™ Vinyl Elevated Dog Bed

  1. Bed sling is made from heavy-duty, double-coated vinyl
  2. Does not contain padding
  3. Material is fully waterproof
  4. Cannot be used without legs
  5. Helps keep dog cool, but is not as breathable as the ripstop version
  6. Good for dogs that both chew and dig heavily. Best option for dogs that have destroyed all else.
  7. Works in any environment, but may get hot if left under direct sunlight on a summer day

Chew Proof Armored™ Mesh Elevated Dog Bed

  1. Bed sling is made from tightly-woven mesh
  2. Does not contain padding
  3. Material allows water and air to pass through freely
  4. Cannot be used without legs
  5. Has the best ventilation of all the chew proof options
  6. Good for dogs that chew heavily, but can be vulnerable to scratching and digging
  7. Works in any environment, but is most popular as an outdoor bed

If you've got a very destructive chewer who likes to claw apart their bed if they can't get a grip on it with their teeth, the vinyl elevated bed is your best option! Or, if you need a cooling bed for a dog that likes to chew but doesn't really dig at their beds, the mesh is a great choice. If you need something to sit on the floor of the crate that won't get chewed up, then the Chew Proof Armored Dog Crate Pad is the bed for you.

The majority of our beds will arrive as a rolled mattress and a folded cover, so you’ll need to put the cover on when it arrives. Pillow style mattresses and bolster pillows should be shaken out a bit when first unrolled to help them fluff up faster. Beds without separate covers, such as the Tough Rip-Stop Dog Crate Pad or Deep Den Dog Bed, only need to be unrolled from their packaging before they’re good for use. The Chew Proof Armored dog beds come pre-assembled, and the elevated ones only need to have the legs screwed into the corners (by hand, no tools needed) before they can be used.

Our rectangle bolster beds come in three parts—a bottom mattress, a bolster pillow fill, and a cover with two compartments. Unzip the cover’s outer zipper and locate the inner compartment’s zipper. Unzip this inner compartment fully and insert the bolster pillow with the yellow side up, making sure the pointed ends poke through the openings at each end of the compartment. Then zip the inner compartment up, set the mattress on top with the yellow side facing up, and zip up the cover’s exterior zipper. Then flip the bed over and it’s good to go!

Our beds can be spot cleaned with a damp cloth and a bit of soap, but if you want a deeper clean they can be machine-washed, too. Simply remove the cover, seal up the closures, and wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. We recommend air drying when possible, but the covers can be machine dried on your lowest heat setting if needed.

Shipping & Delivery

All orders are shipped from California via FedEx Home Delivery. Since FedEx does not deliver to P.O. Boxes, please make sure to provide a physical address when ordering so that your order can be successfully delivered. We aren't able to audit every order's shipping address, so please make sure to double check the shipping information before placing your order. We are not responsible for packages that are not received due to being sent to a PO Box address.

We aim to ship orders out as quickly as possible, but manufacturing can occasionally take some extra time. Most orders will ship within 1-2 business days of being placed. Fulfillment times can vary throughout the year, especially during (or right after) holidays, so if your order is time-sensitive please contact us to confirm the current processing speed.

All orders ship from Southern California, so typical transit time is 1-3 days for West Coast areas, 3-4 days for Central US, 4-5 days for the Midwest, and 5-7 days for East Coast locations. You’ll receive a tracking number via email when the order ships so that you can keep an eye on it.

We're only able to ship via FedEx Home Delivery, so unfortunately we are not able to offer any expedited options. If you need an order by a specific date, please reach out to our customer care team to see if it will be possible to get it in time before submitting the order. We are always more than happy to ask our packers to prioritize an order for you so that it ships out faster, but we cannot speed up the actual transit time.

Since we can only ship using FedEx Home Delivery and that service cannot deliver to APO or FPO addresses, we are unfortunately unable to ship to an APO or FPO. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but you may be able to have an order forwarded to you using a third-party forwarding service like reship.com.

Unfortunately, the high costs associated with shipping outside the 48 contiguous United States prevents us from being able to offer free shipping to Alaska and Hawaii. However, if you are willing to pay the shipping costs, we can accommodate an order. To get a quote, please email us at info@k9ballistics.com or call us at 844-772-3125 and let us know the name and size of the bed you wish to order, along with your shipping address. We can let you know the pricing and get the order set up if you decide to proceed.

Please note that we can only ship via FedEx Home Delivery; UPS and USPS are not available as alternatives. If the quote for shipping is too high, you can also look into using a third-party forwarding service like reship.com to have the package forwarded to you.

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, but at this time we are unable to ship outside the contiguous United States. If you live outside the US, you can look into using a third-party forwarding service like reship.com.

Canadians located near the border may also have the option of having the order delivered to the border for pickup, but these services tend to be very localized and you'll need to do some research as to whether there are any pickup companies in your area. Alternatively, you can have the order delivered directly to a FedEx store on the US side of the border and then pick it up from there*.

*You must use a FedEx store for this, as we ship exclusively using FedEx and they cannot deliver to UPS stores or Post Offices.

Returns & Exchanges

K9 Ballistics accepts returns and exchanges on items sent back within the first 30 days of receipt, provided that the item remains in like-new condition* and does not meet any of the disqualifying criteria listed below. Return shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.

Custom embroidery/vinyl text items, Final Sale, Clearance, and Open Box items cannot be exchanged or returned. Items shipped as replacements for missing packages or via warranty cannot be returned for a refund, but can be exchanged for store credit if they meet the standard criteria.

Items do not qualify for return or exchange if they:

  1.  Have been personalized with embroidery or vinyl text
  2. Are Clearance, Final Sale, or Open Box items
  3. Have had their sewn-in tags removed
  4. Show signs of use (includes, but is not limited to: evidence of dog fur, dander, dirt, stains, scratch marks, odors, etc.)
  5. Have been washed
  6. Have been damaged
  7. Were received more than 30 days ago

All returns are thoroughly inspected upon receipt; please allow 3-5 days from the date the item is delivered for it to be processed and refunded. We reserve the right to deny credit to any items returned to us that are not in new, unused condition or meet any of the disqualifying criteria specified above.

*Items that have been damaged are not eligible for a return but may qualify for our warranty. Please visit our warranty page here to view the policy and submit a claim.

To start a return, simply click the “Start Your Return or Exchange” button on our returns page here. The portal will then walk you through the steps for generating your RMA and return instructions. We accept items back within the first 30 days provided that they are still in unused condition, have not been personalized or altered in any way, and are not a final sale item. Return shipping fees are the responsibility of the customer.

PO Box Failed Deliveries and Rejected Packages

K9 Ballistics is unable to deliver to PO Boxes, and orders submitted with a PO Box shipping address may end up returned to sender. If an order is returned to sender by the carrier due to being addressed to a PO Box or due to being rejected by the recipient, it will be treated as a standard return and a refund less the return shipping cost ($30 per package) will be issued to the customer when the item is received and processed. If a PO Box or rejected order contains items that cannot be returned (i.e. personalized, Final Sale, Open Box, etc), no refund will be issued but the item can be reshipped at the customer's expense. Reshipping fees are dependent on what the carrier charged K9 Ballistics for the original shipment and may not match the default shipping charged on the original order.

As long as the item is still unused, has not been personalized or altered, and is not a final sale item, you can ship it back within the first 30 days to exchange it for a different item. To start the exchange, simply click the “Start Your Return or Exchange” button on our returns page here. The portal will then walk you through the steps for generating your RMA and exchange instructions. We provide free return labels for bed exchanges that are being sent back in the original box. We are not able to provide labels for the exchange of dog gear, toys, accessories, and other small items.

To complete the exchange, you can either select the new bed that you want while walking through the steps of the return portal, or you can opt to send the bed back first for store credit which you can then apply towards a different option later. If you choose the option to send the item back for a refund only, it will be treated as a return instead of an exchange and return shipping fees will apply.

Yes, the cost of return shipping is the responsibility of the customer and will not be refunded or reimbursed. K9 Ballistics can provide FedEx return labels for a $30 fee (per package) only if the item meets the following conditions:

  1.  Does not meet any of the disqualifying criteria listed above
  2. Exceeds $30 in value
  3. Is being shipped back in the original box
  4. Is being shipped from a location within the 48 contiguous United States
  5. Can be returned via FedEx

Items returned using a K9 Ballistics return label must be dropped off at the carrier to be sent back; we do not offer or schedule pickup services. For orders placed through k9ballistics.com, the $30 label fee will be deducted from the refund once the returned item has been inspected and processed. For Facebook, Instagram, and Amazon orders, the label fee must be paid upfront before a label can be provided. If a K9 Ballistics return label is used on a box other than the original to ship the item back, the full shipping cost—including any additional fees incurred by using the incorrect box—will be deducted from the refund. If those fees exceed the original cost of the item, no refund will be given.

For items that do not meet the criteria for a $30 label listed above, the customer must purchase their own label from any carrier of their choice to send the item back. These shipping fees are not reimbursable by K9 Ballistics and it is recommended that you select a trackable shipping method in case there are any issues with delivery.

We are not able to accept returns on beds that have been used or damaged, no matter how quickly the damage was done. Instead, we offer a 120-day warranty, which promises a one-time replacement of the damaged bed or cover. If you do not want a replacement, you can email our customer care team at info@k9ballistics.com with your order number and a photo of the damage done and we will issue you warranty store credit for the value of the replacement so that you can apply it towards a stronger type of bed.

Warranty Policy

Our 120-Day Chew Proof Warranty covers any dog-related damage that occurs to an eligible bed within 120 days of the order being delivered. If your dog damages the bed, we will replace the bed or the cover (depending on product type) once, free of charge. If a replacement is not desired, warranty store credit for the value of the replacement will be issued instead, which you can apply towards a different style of bed or item.

Items excluded from this warranty include the following:

  1. Final Sale items
  2. Clearance items
  3. Open Box items
  4. Dog gear (harnesses, leashes, collars, etc.)
  5. Dog toys
  6. Accessories (tarps, blankets, car seat covers, etc)
  7. Warranty replacements
  8. Items purchased with warranty store credit

You can find the full details of our warranty and which products are eligible for full or cover only replacements here.

Please note that this warranty is not a money back guarantee, and we are not able to provide refunds for damaged items.

The 120-day warranty provides a replacement of the damaged item only; we are not able to provide refunds on used or damaged items. If you do not want the replacement, we recommend getting store credit instead and applying it towards a stronger bed model.

With our 120-day warranty, you can submit a claim once per eligible item within the 120-day period. With the claim, you can either receive a replacement bed or cover (dependent on the type of bed you purchased) or you can receive warranty store credit equal to the value of the replacement bed/cover. If you use the warranty on the item to get a replacement, you will not be able to use the warranty to get warranty store credit on that same item later.

If your original item was damaged quickly or easily, we strongly recommend opting for the warranty store credit and applying it towards one of our strongest beds, such as a Chew Proof Armored Dog Crate Pad or a Chew Proof Armored Vinyl Elevated Dog Bed. This will greatly reduce the odds of damage occurring the second time around.

The warranty applies to any applicable items on an order, so if you only claim the warranty for one bed but you have two on your order, you can still submit a warranty claim later for the second bed if it is also damaged within the 120-day period.

Warranty replacements and items purchased with warranty store credit do not come with a warranty of their own.

As long as the seller of the product shows as K9 Ballistics for the bed you purchased through Amazon, it will have the same warranty as it would if you had purchased it directly through our site. However, the warranty claim process is a little different since our online portal only recognizes orders that were directly placed through our site.

To submit a claim on an Amazon order:

  1. Locate the Amazon order number for the product by pulling up the order under your Amazon account. This will be a long number that is broken up into three parts by two dashes. Please copy this order number (do not take a screenshot).
  2. Send an email with that Amazon order number pasted into the Subject line or body of the email to info@k9ballistics.com. Include a photo of the damage done to the bed.
  3. In your email, make sure to mention if you want a replacement of the damaged item or warranty store credit for its value. If you opt for the replacement, make sure you also confirm your current shipping address.

And that's it! The warranty team will then get that processed for you, typically within 1 business day if you send it in during business hours. You do not need to ship the original item back and can continue using it or dispose of it (just make sure you've taken a photo, first!).

Submitting a claim is easy! All you have to do is visit our warranty page here, and then click the “Submit Claim” button. Follow the steps to submit your photo of the damaged bed and select your replacement. If the replacement you want is not available, or if you want store credit instead of a replacement, please contact our customer service team through chat or info@k9ballistics.com for further assistance.
