This replaces 2 donut dog beds. I have to long haired Chihuahuas. This bed is perfect for them both. I love the removable cover because it has heavy elastic on the back side for easy removal. It's a heavy duty cover and I do mean heavy duty. It's thick and sewn well. The covering over the foam inserts is a zippered cover. It too is removable for washing which is a plus because if accidents occur such as vomiting or wet paws or other dog messes.

The height of the bottom is 3.5 inches, the bolsters are 3.5 inches. I like this because the sides and bottom won't wear out so quickly like stuffed polyester dog beds. The thickness of the foam keeps their bodies from the cold of floors. The side bolsters will last much longer too because of how thick they are. The surface of the bed is a white fur like substance, it's not sherpa fleece. This adds to help keep them warmer. It will clean easier not being sherpa, which is good for clinging dog hair or grit and grime. I highly recommend this bed and I do feel like this is one of the best dog beds money can buy. Our dogs mean so much to us and it up to us to make sure their quality of life is the best we can make for them. They give us so much and ask nothing in return.
