I have actually purchased three new crate mats and this one extra large open box mat over the last couple of months, and what a difference they've made around here so far. My four big dogs have mostly outgrown tearing stuff up, but my one anxious Catahoula/Great Pyr mix will occasionally chew up the cheap beds to make himself vomit for reasons unknown to us or our vet. So far he has not been able to make a dent in the three smaller crate pads (or the one Kong cuddler we have), but the final two remaining cheap ones were recently destroyed by him for those reasons. I found this extra large open box option that was essentially the size of the two old mats put together, and I think the days of finding shredded fluff in random places is finally over. The blue color doesn't match anything else we have (the other I bought are all grey), but the deal was too good to pass up to finally rid us of the remaining cheap mats. While the thicker beds are tempting, our house is small and our kitchen triples as my WFH office and doggo containment unit. While this mat truly is XL, it's thin enough to fold or roll up to put away when needed. The big beds would be harder to handle, and the pups are just happy to be up off the wood floors between it and the 1 crate we keep in the kitchen as well (other 2 in a separate room). Happy medium for us all around.
