This is not a chew proof item. The ripstop ballistic liner is durable and will hold up to wear and tear, but it is not as strong as our Tough covers and is not scratch- or chew-resistant without one.

This listing is for a bolster pillow fill only, and will arrive as a short, tube-shaped pillow that has been compressed and rolled for shipping. It must be unrolled and allowed to expand upon arrival before it can be used. We recommend shaking the pillow out when you first unroll it to help redistribute the fill and fluff it up faster.

The pillow liner is made from 600D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric. There is a PU waterproof backing applied to the inner surface of the gray sides. The inside the liner is filled with CertiPUR-US shredded polyurethane foam.

Our ballistic liners have a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface of the gray material. The backing will help keep water from soaking into the foam, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our liners are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the foam, and avoid submerging the pillow or allowing it to sit in puddled water.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage the protective coating, making the liner more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

We recommend spot-cleaning when possible, as the liner cannot be easily separated from the shredded foam. If necessary, this pillow can be machine washed. Wash in cold water on delicate, then machine dry low heat until fully dried. It will likely take multiple drying cycles, since the foam can hold a lot of water. To avoid the risk of mildew, do not put the pillow in the cover until it has fully dried out inside.

No—our regular rectangle bed covers don't have a compartment for the pillow. Unless you plan on letting the pillow sit loose on top of the bed (not recommended), you will need to get a Tough Ripstop™ Giant 7" Bolster Orthopedic Dog Bed Cover in order to put the pillow somewhere. However, the Giant 7" Bolster Orthopedic cover won't fit regular 5" rectangle mattresses, so you'll also need the 7" mattress in order to complete the bed.

If, however, you have our Giant 7" Rectangle bed, then purchasing the Giant 7" Bolster Bed cover and this pillow will allow you to convert that existing bed into the bolstered version.

For best results, check the care tag on the inside of the cover, which should state the bed size for you and select the bolster pillow size that matches. You can also review your order history by accessing your account on our site, or measure the width (the shorter side) of your current bed. The bed's width will match the length of the bolster pillow.
