What comes in the box?

This bed will arrive as a pre-assembled frame and a set of four legs. It can be used as-is, or you can elevate the bed by inserting the legs into each corner socket and twisting by hand until tight.

What is this bed made from?

The frame and legs are made from 100% aluminum, including the corners (which are simply powder-coated black). The bed sling is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, and the inner padding is 100% polyester fiberfill batting. The ripstop fabric has both a PU backing to make it water-resistant and a DWR coating to repel water. Each leg has a rubber foot cap to keep the bed from sliding.

What makes this bed different from your other armored beds?

The Chew Proof Armored™ Padded Dog Crate Bed is the only armored bed that has a padded center. It gives your dog a bit of extra comfort and helps keep them warm in the winter months, but it won’t work as well for cooling as the non-padded ripstop or mesh elevated beds. It's also the only armored bed that can be used without legs.

What does the warranty cover?

As per the 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty , we will replace the entire armored bed once free of charge if your dog damages it within the first 120 days of receipt. Store credit for the value of the bed will be provided instead if a replacement is not desired or available. For more details or to submit a claim, please visit our warranty page.

Is this bed waterproof?

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface. These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed padding. Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

How do I clean this bed?

Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. Most soaps and detergents are fine, but avoid using bleach—it can damage the frame. For a more thorough cleaning, you can disassemble the bed with a 4.5 mm allen wrench and machine wash the center pad. Wash with cold water on delicate and machine dry on low heat until it is fully dried out, then replace on frame.

Can I use this bed without the legs?

Absolutely! Since the center of this bed is padded for comfort, it can be used with or without legs. No tools are required to install or remove the legs—they simply twist on or off by hand.

How do I get this bed into a crate?

First, remove the plastic pan or tray from the bottom of the crate. Then slide the bed through the crate door at a diagonal without any legs. Once it’s in the crate, you can lower it to the bottom of the crate for use, or if you want to elevate it, reach in and add a leg to each corner socket, twisting by hand until tight. Level the bed out and lower it until the feet touch the floor and it is good to go.

Can I personalize this bed?

Yes, you can! We offer personalization through laser engraving, which allows you to print your dog's name (or a short phrase) on the frame of the bed. Personalization can be done on either the long side or short side of the bed. To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the font and location, and make sure to type in what you want to have personalized. Personalization will appear in all caps.

What size should I get?

For best results, check out our size guide. This bed is designed to fit standard wire crates but crate dimensions can vary slightly by manufacturer, so make sure to compare the actual dimensions of your crate against those for the bed size you’re interested in. The dimensions shown for our beds are exact, and due to their rigid frames these beds will not fit in spaces smaller than their size. For use outside a crate, measure your dog from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail and use that as the minimum length the bed needs to be for your dog to lie on it comfortably. Remember that the frame takes up an inch of space from each side, so the sleeping area is 2" smaller in each dimension from the total bed size.

FINALLY
Finally, we found a bed for our 1.5 year old dachshund Bruno. For his whole life he did not get to have a bed while in his pen. When we would try to give him something comfy to lay on, he just kept chewing it up. Beds, pillows, blankets, and towels were all chewed up when we got home. So he got to sit on the black plastic insert for his own safety. I didn't want him chewing up stuff and getting a blockage. So we just took everything out. Then one day I came across K9 ballistics on tiktok. This bed is AWESOME!!! I came home to no mess. I am so happy knowing that he can finally have a comfy bed and be safe. The price is reasonable. The quality is great. I like how there are different types and options to pick from. I will absolutely recommend K9 Ballistics to everyone. Thanks for designing a dog bed to keep my boys safe.

Finally a bed my dog didn’t tear apart
We have a now 7 month old pup that chewed and ripped apart 2 beds before we got this. It’s fantastic. He has zero interest in destroying it. And the crazy thing is he now goes into his cage with toys to chew on his own. It’s very durable. Easy to clean. Definitely worth it.

Finally a bed she can’t tear up!
I have been through SO many dog beds for my 3 year old Pit/Terrier mix including the “so called” indestructible beds from other companies. She went through all those beds in 1-2 days in her crate. So far we have had the new bed for almost a week and not one loose string or hole to be found! Definitely worth the price when I don’t have to buy a new one every week!

Don’t overthink it… get the bed!
I truly cannot say enough good things about this bed — it’s been a godsend. My sixteen month old medium standard poodle is a destroyer. I needed to remove all beds and blankets for his safety so he wouldn’t destroy or eat pieces of them. I knew about this bed but was weary about spending the money, however the chew proof guarantee made me take the risk. He hasn’t been able to chew or destroy it!! My biggest regret now is not ordering it sooner! I actually purchased a second bed so now he has one in his crate flat and another outside elevated. So happy my boy is no longer on a hard surface! Don’t overthink it, get the bed.

Comfy beds
Our dogs aren't horrific chewers but we still wanted something they couldn't destroy and possibly ingest. These beds fit the bill and they seem to like the comfort of the padded bed without being too hot. The XL fits their crate perfectly. We had to take one apart when one dog puked on it and we couldn't get rid of the smell. Machine wash thankfully cleaned it up perfectly, but we were surprised how well these beds were made. Nothing cheap about them.
