Is this bed chew proof?

This is not a chew proof bed. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging, scratching, and light chewing, but it can be damaged by aggressive or persistent chewing habits. The bolstered edge also offers extra seams and corners for a chewer to target. If you have a dog that routinely tears up their bedding, please consider one of our Chew Proof Armored™ beds instead.

What comes in the box?

This bed arrives in two parts: Gray and yellow oval pillow mattress, rolled. Tough Rip-Stop ™ ballistic oval bolster cover with sewn-in bolster walls, rolled Unroll both portions and allow them to expand. Shaking them out will help fluff them up faster. Then evert the Tough cover to expose the zipper for the inner cushion. Unzip, slide cushion into place, zip, turn walls right-side out again, and the bed is ready for use.

What is this bed made from?

The bed cover is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the black bottom. The sewn-in wall chambers are filled with 100% recycled polyester fiberfill. The bottom oval cushion has a 600D ripstop ballistic liner made from polyester and is filled with CertiPUR-US shredded polyurethane foam.

What does the warranty cover?

The 120 Day Warranty applies to the exterior of the bed only (cover with bolster walls). The bottom oval cushion is not included under the warranty. If your dog damages the bed in any way within the first 120 days of receipt, we will replace the cover once free of charge. Store credit for the value of the cover will be provided instead if a replacement cover is not desired. For more details or to submit a claim, please visit our warranty page.

Is this bed waterproof?

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; premium finish ripstop does not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our pads and beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed, and avoid submerging the bed or allowing it to sit in puddled water. Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

How do I clean this bed?

Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. For a more thorough cleaning, remove the bottom cushion and machine wash the cover in cold water on a delicate cycle. Make sure to zip up the cover and keep it right side out before adding it to the machine. Machine dry on low heat until fully dried. Due to the size of the bolster walls, larger bed sizes may need to be cleaned in a commercial-sized washer/dryer.

Can this bed be used in a crate?

Our oval bolster beds are not sized to fit crates and are not intended for crate use, but the pillow fill is squishy enough that you could possibly squeeze it through a crate door. Once inside, however, it will not be a perfect fit (these beds run much wider than crates do) and it will either take up most of the available crate space or there may be a large amount of space left over. Can I personalize this bed?

Yes, you can! This bed can be personalized with embroidery. The lettering will appear on top of the bottom cushion near the bolster opening. To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the thread color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have embroidered. Embroidery is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

What size should I get?

For best results, check out our size guide. The oval bolster bed runs more narrow than a traditional round bed, and the thickness of the bolster wall takes up some of the available sleeping area of the bed. Make sure to compare your dog's length to the bed's sleeping dimensions to ensure your pup will have enough room. When in doubt, it's safer to go up a size.

Our rescue dogs absolutely love this bed!
Our dogs love these beds! We need about 20 more at the rescue 🤣 but we purchased the largest size and as you can see it’s huge! Both our “bedroom dogs” (1 is a full grown female GSD & my female service K9 who is Mal/gsd) fit in it along with the little squirt (small dog mutt) who also sleeps with us! Great material and durability! My black shepherd who’s my service dog likes to “rearrange” the dog beds by scratching and pulling them across the floor and this is just heavy enough that she can’t do that easily and also stands up against her digging and pulling with her paws! We placed it in front of our AC unit and the material stays cool which makes our shepherds happy! Plus, since it’s waterproof I don’t have to worry about the little puppy having accidents on it! Everyone is happy with this bed!🤟

Pups love the bed
My Moyen Poodle pups have worked together to destroy 4 beds and they are only 18 weeks old. With this one, they dig and dig but don't put a mark on this one. Will buy another soon.

Still amazing
This is my second purchase. I got the small a few months back for my little dog and now purchased the medium for my larger dog. These beds are solid. If you have bed diggers, these hold up perfectly. There isn’t a tear or bite out of either of them. The price is high but the quality matches. You can get a cheap but you’ll just end up needing a new one once your dog destroys it. Buy this one and be done with it.

It took a few days….
It took a few days for our 1yr old pup to finally lay down in her bed…she’s used to the fluffy one. We’ve gone through 3 beds that she’s destroyed until we found K9 Ballistic website. I think she was hesitant because she realized she couldn’t eat this bed:) and seeing her in it I probably could have gotten the next size up but she usually hangs her head over the side so no problem. Btw we bought the small size as she’s small & only 22 lbs but she’s a killer with her teeth…no toy or bed is safe from our baby shark. The pad was pretty hard to get inside the cover (I think we were trying to put it in sideways) but it’s in and it’s pretty cushy.
(Her tongue is sticking out in the photo cause she was licking her chops…lol)
