Tightly-woven (600D) ballistic fabric is much more durable than the usual flimsy liners that ordinary dog bed mattresses use. It's even stronger than most covers! This liner will resist wear and tear and heavy use with ease, and won't fall apart at the seams. The gray top and sides feature a waterproof backing to protect the foam from moisture.

Please note that an exterior Tough cover is still needed for this bed to be considered chew- and scratch-resistant.

CertiPUR-US Foam

Our orthopedic mattresses are made from sheets of solid foam manufactured in the USA. This foam has been third-party tested and CertiPUR-US certified to have been made without formaldehyde, ozone depleters, heavy metals like mercury or lead, PBDEs, CFCs, and other harmful chemicals like phthalates and carcinogenic flame retardants. It’s also certified to be low VOC on emissions, meaning better indoor air quality for you and your pup.

The Tough Ripstop™ Giant 7" Rectangle Bolster Orthopedic Dog Bed Mattress is compatible with our Tough Ripstop™ Giant 7" Rectangle Bolster Dog Bed Cover only, sold separately. It cannot be used with standard or 3.5 Tough Ripstop™ bolster covers.

This listing is for the inner mattress and built-in bolster only and does not include the outer Tough cover. It is meant to replace the mattress on an existing bed and should not be used on its own without a cover.

Our ballistic material is engineered to last longer than traditional fabrics. That means having to purchase fewer beds over the lifetime of your pets, which in turn contributes to a smaller carbon footprint by reducing energy and fuel usage for manufacturing and shipping.

In accordance with the principles of zero-waste manufacturing, we take any scrap foam left over from making our orthopedic beds and shred them down to make fill for our bolster pillows and pillow mattresses, ensuring no foam gets thrown out.

This is not a chew proof item. The ripstop ballistic liner is durable and will hold up to wear and tear, but it is not as strong as our Tough covers and is not scratch- or chew-resistant without one.

This listing is for a mattress only, and will arrive as a single item that has been compressed and rolled for shipping. It must be unrolled and allowed to expand upon arrival before it can be covered and used. Orthopedic mattresses can take up to five days to expand to the fullest, but will typically expand enough to be covered and used within a couple hours of being opened.

The mattress liner is made from 600D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the yellow breathable bottom. There is a PU waterproof backing applied to the inner surface of the gray top and sides of the liner. The mattress and bolster are made from solid CertiPUR-US certified polyurethane foam and contain no glue or adhesives.

The liner can be unzipped and removed from the bed for machine washing. Wash in cold water on a delicate cycle and then air dry or tumble dry with low heat until fully dried.

Do not attempt to machine wash the foam. If the foam is dirty, spot clean as best as possible but avoid getting the foam wet, as it will not air dry easily. Do not cover damp foam. Foam can be deodorized by generously sprinkling baking soda over both and allowing it to air out in a dry, ventilated space.

For best results, measure the dimensions of your current bed and select the mattress size option that matches most closely. If you no longer have the mattress, lay the cover out flat on the floor, smooth out any wrinkles, and measure from corner to corner to get the best dimensions.
