What comes in the box?

This bed arrives in two parts: Gray and yellow orthopedic crate bed mattress, rolled. Tough Ripstop ™ ballistic orthopedic crate bed cover, folded. Typically found at the bottom of the box. To assemble, simply unroll the mattress and allow it to expand. Then put the cover on, seal the closures, and it is ready to go.

What does the warranty cover?

This bed actually comes with two separate warranties: 1. 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty Applies to the outer cover only If your dog damages the bed in any way within the first 120 days of receipt, we will replace the cover once free of charge. Store credit for the value of the cover will be provided instead if a replacement cover is not desired. 2. 10 Year Won't Flatten Warranty Applies to the solid-foam mattress only If the orthopedic mattress loses support or flattens within 10 years of the original order date, we will replace the mattress once free of charge. Densely-woven (1200D) heavy duty ballistic fabric withstands punctures and tears from digging and scratching. Odor-resistant, stain-resistant, and machine-washable, this material will outlast whatever your dog throws at it. It comes in three style options:

Original - Ballistic fabric with a smooth, slick finish that fur and dirt won't stick to. Features a DWR coating and a waterproof backing to protect the bed from moisture. Works well both indoors and outside. Available in Obsidian Black, Blue Quartz, Sage Green, and Tan colors.
Premium Finish - Ballistic fabric with a coating that gives the material a woven-looking texture. It's softer to the touch, but fur might stick more easily. Works best with indoor-only beds. Available in Titanium and Taupe.
Velvet - Ballistic fabric with a fuzzy coating that makes it soft to the touch, but fur might stick more easily. Works best with indoor-only beds. This color has been discontinued and will not be restocking. Available only in XXL Light Gray Velvet.

Regardless of ballistic fabric type, this bed is covered against damage by our 120 Day Warranty.

Our orthopedic mattresses are composed of a single layer of dense foam that contains no glue or adhesives and won’t flatten or lose shape over time. The solid foam eliminates pressure points and provides firm support for your dog’s joints, hips, and spine. Dual Protection

Ballistic Mattress Liner

We use 600D ripstop ballistic fabric for our mattress and bolster liners, making them much more durable than the flimsy liners ordinary dog beds use. They're even stronger than most regular covers!

These liners act as a second line of defense beneath the bed's Tough cover, resisting wear and tear and heavy use with ease. The gray top and sides also feature a waterproof backing to protect the foam from moisture.

Our orthopedic mattresses are made from sheets of solid foam manufactured in the USA. This foam has been third-party tested and CertiPUR-US certified to have been made without the following harmful compounds:

Removable Cover with

Hidden Zippers

The outer Tough cover features a dual-closure system. A strip of industrial-strength hook and loop fastener hides and protects the zipper, preventing inquisitive pups from mouthing at the zipper or pulling the cover open.

This cover has a non-skid coating on its underside to prevent it from sliding and can be machine washed for easy cleaning.

Corner Anchor

Tie Downs

Corners and edges are the most vulnerable part of a crate bed, so ours are designed with anchor loops at each corner. These can be used with zip-ties to tie the corners to the bottom of the crate, fixing the bed in place and making it harder for bored pups to pull up a corner or edge and start chewing.

For best results, loop the zip ties around the bottom wires of the crate.

Our ballistic material is engineered to last longer than traditional fabrics. That means having to purchase fewer beds over the lifetime of your pets, which in turn contributes to a smaller carbon footprint by reducing energy and fuel usage for manufacturing and shipping.

In accordance with the principles of zero-waste manufacturing, we also take any scrap foam left over from making our orthopedic beds and shred them down to make fill for our bolster pillows and pillow mattresses, ensuring no foam gets thrown out.

This is not a chew proof bed. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging, scratching, and light chewing, but it can be damaged by aggressive or persistent chewing habits. If you have a dog that routinely tears up their bedding, please consider one of our Chew Proof Armored™ beds instead.

This bed arrives in two parts:

Gray and yellow orthopedic crate bed mattress, rolled.
Tough Ripstop™ ballistic orthopedic crate bed cover, folded. Typically found at the bottom of the box.

To assemble, simply unroll the mattress and allow it to expand. Then put the cover on, seal the closures, and it is ready to go.

The bed cover is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the black bottom. The inner mattress has a 600D ripstop ballistic liner made from polyester and the rectangle orthopedic mattress is made from a solid sheet of CertiPUR-US polyurethane foam. The foam contains no glue or adhesives.

This bed actually comes with two separate warranties:

1. 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty

Applies to the outer cover only
If your dog damages the bed in any way within the first 120 days of receipt, we will replace the cover once free of charge. Store credit for the value of the cover will be provided instead if a replacement cover is not desired.

2. 10 Year Won't Flatten Warranty

Applies to the solid-foam mattress only
If the orthopedic mattress loses support or flattens within 10 years of the original order date, we will replace the mattress once free of charge.
Does not apply to dog-related damage or damage from misuse

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; velvet ripstop does not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our pads and beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed, and avoid submerging the bed or allowing it to sit in puddled water.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. For a more thorough cleaning, remove the outer cover and machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Make sure to zip up the cover and keep it right side out before adding it to the machine. Air dry if possible, or machine dry on low heat.

If in use, the tie downs will need to be cut to remove the bed from the crate, but you can replace them with standard zip ties. Do not wash the foam.

We do not, but we use standard zip ties. You should be able to find something similar at your local hardware store or through an online marketplace like Amazon.

It depends! If you want to use the tie downs and you want to use them most effectively, you do need to take the tray out first. This exposes the bottom wires of the crate and will give you the best attachment points for the ties. If you don’t want to use the tie-downs or are just attaching them to the side wires (only recommended if your dog is not a big chewer), then it’s fine to place this pad on top of the tray.

Yes, you can! This bed can be personalized with embroidery as long as you choose obsidian black, blue quartz, sage green, sandstone, titanium premium finish, or taupe premium finish as the bed color. To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the thread color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have embroidered. Embroidery is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

Due to the placement of the cover closure, the embroidery will appear along the long side of the bed for XL and XXL sizes. We are not able to embroider the short side for these sizes. Velvet color options cannot be personalized due to the velvet coating.

For best results, check out our size guide. This bed is designed to fit standard wire crates but crate dimensions can vary slightly by manufacturer, so make sure to compare the actual dimensions of your crate against those for the bed size you’re interested in. This bed can compress about an inch to fit a slightly smaller space, but if the size difference is going to be bigger than that, it's safer to go down a size or get the more flexible Tough Ripstop™ Dog Crate Pad instead.
