Extra Large & Giant Dog Beds

Big dogs need big beds, and K9 Ballistics is here to fill that niche. Any one of our beds can be used by even the most giant of breeds, whether you’ve got a stocky and powerful Mastiff or a towering Great Dane. To ensure maximum comfort, we recommend our solid-foam orthopedic dog beds, which will provide the much-needed support and stability that those big, heavy bones and joints need. However, if you’ve got a big pup that prefers to nestle or sink down deep into their bedding, don’t fret! Our shredded-foam pillow beds are a delightful compromise between the firm density of a solid-foam bed and the softer fluff of a fiberfill mattress. These beds allow your dog to sink down into comfort, while still retaining enough thickness and density to keep them from ever feeling the floor. 

For big, fluffy dogs with thick coats—or any pup that tends to run hot—we also offer a selection of elevated armored beds. Our Chew Proof Armored Mesh Elevated Bed, in particular, has a bed sling made from a durable, open weave fabric, allowing fresh air to circulate freely under your dog and wick away any body heat. The ballistic ripstop and vinyl variants offer similar cooling abilities, while also being incredibly resistant to any destructive behaviors like persistent, powerful chewing and heavy digging. All of our armored beds have a weight limit of 250 lbs. 

When choosing a bed for your big dog, look to the XL and XXL sizes. For most regular beds, the XL is a great option for a single dog, capable of  comfortably supporting both stocky breeds and leggy ones. Our XXL beds (coming in at 68” x 40” for most rectangle styles) are nearly as large as a twin mattress, and tend to work best for multi-dog households. They can often accommodate 2 XL dogs at the same time, or 3-4 large/medium dogs (depending on how much your pups like to snuggle). Exceptions to this rule are the Chew Proof Armored beds and other crate beds, which run smaller to match standard crate dimensions, and the Giant 7” Orthopedic Bed, which has a slightly snugger footprint. If you’ve got a pretty massive dog, you’ll likely need an XXL with these ones.
