Mini Bolster Pillow Dog Bed

This is not a chew proof bed. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging, scratching, and light chewing, but it can be damaged by aggressive or persistent chewing habits. The bolstered edge also offers extra seams and corners for a chewer to target. If you have a dog that routinely tears up their bedding, please consider one of our Chew Proof Armored™ beds instead.

Yes, it does. The bed has a zipper that follows along the bottom edge of the bed, for ease of assembly. While it isn't immediately obvious or easy to see, this zipper is not hidden behind a strip of hook and loop fastener. If you have a dog that chews heavily or targets zippers, we would advise against getting them a bolstered bed.

This bed arrives in three parts:

• Gray and yellow rectangle pillow mattress, rolled.
• Gray and yellow bolster pillow, rolled.
• Tough Ripstop™ ballistic bolster bed cover, folded. Typically found at the bottom of the box.

Larger bed sizes (XL and XXL) may arrive with components split between two boxes. To assemble, unzip the cover and locate the zipper for the interior bolster compartment. Unzip the compartment and insert the bolster pillow. Re-zip the compartment and lay the rectangle mattress down on top of it inside the main compartment, with the yellow side facing towards you. Zip up the outer cover and flip the bed over for use.

The bed cover is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the black bottom. There is a textured rubber coating on the bottom of the bed cover to prevent it from sliding. The inner mattress and bolster pillow both have a 600D ripstop ballistic liner made from polyester, and both are filled with CertiPUR-US shredded polyurethane foam.

This is a clearance item being sold at a deep discount. While it has the same durability as our full-price Tough Ripstop beds, it does not come with a warranty due to the price cut. If you have a more destructive chewer, please keep them supervised at all times when using the bed to prevent any damage from occurring.

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; velvet ripstop does not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our pads and beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed, and avoid submerging the bed or allowing it to sit in puddled water.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. For a more thorough cleaning, remove the outer cover and machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Make sure to zip up the cover and keep it right side out before adding it to the machine. Air dry if possible, or machine dry on low heat.

If necessary, the shredded-foam mattress and bolster pillow can be machine washed in cold water on a delicate cycle. Do not attempt to wash if the zippers open easily or seem loose, as this could result in foam pieces escaping into your washing machine. Machine dry with low heat until fully dry before putting the components back in the cover.

Do not cover a damp mattress, or else mildew and mold may develop inside it. Industrial/commercial washers and dryers will be needed for larger bed sizes. If the mattress does not have room to spare in your machine, do not attempt to wash in your machine. Instead, take it to a laundromat

Our bolster beds are not sized to fit crates and are not intended for crate use, but the pillow fill is squishy enough that you could possibly squeeze it through a crate door. Once inside, however, it will not be a perfect fit (these beds run much wider than crates do) and it may take up most of the available crate space. Yes, you can! This bed can be personalized with embroidery (stitched thread).

To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the thread color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have embroidered. Embroidery is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

We've received some great customer feedback over the dimensions of our smallest rectangle bolster beds, with a number of individuals pointing out that the sleeping area can be rather tight for dogs that aren't tiny. The next size up is a pretty big jump in dimensions, though, and it doesn't work for everyone. We're currently redesigning our smalls to transition more smoothly to the medium size, allowing them to accommodate a wider range of small breeds.
