This bed will arrive as a pre-assembled frame and a set of four legs. It can be used as-is, or you can elevate the bed by inserting the legs into each corner socket and twisting by hand until tight.

The frame and legs are made from 100% aluminum, including the corners (which are simply powder-coated black). The bed sling is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, and the inner padding is 100% polyester fiberfill batting. The ripstop fabric has both a PU backing to make it water-resistant and a DWR coating to repel water. Each leg has a rubber foot cap to keep the bed from sliding.

The Chew Proof Armored™ Padded Dog Crate Bed is the only armored bed that has a padded center. It gives your dog a bit of extra comfort and helps keep them warm in the winter months, but it won’t work as well for cooling as the non-padded ripstop or mesh elevated beds. It's also the only armored bed that can be used without legs.

As per the 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty, we will replace the entire armored bed once free of charge if your dog damages it within the first 120 days of receipt. Store credit for the value of the bed will be provided instead if a replacement is not desired or available.

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface. These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed padding.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

 Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. Most soaps and detergents are fine, but avoid using bleach—it can damage the frame.

For a more thorough cleaning, you can disassemble the bed with a 4.5 mm allen wrench and machine wash the center pad. Wash with cold water on delicate and machine dry on low heat until it is fully dried out, then replace on frame.

Absolutely! Since the center of this bed is padded for comfort, it can be used with or without legs. No tools are required to install or remove the legs—they simply twist on or off by hand.

First, remove the plastic pan or tray from the bottom of the crate. Then slide the bed through the crate door at a diagonal without any legs. Once it’s in the crate, you can lower it to the bottom of the crate for use, or if you want to elevate it, reach in and add a leg to each corner socket, twisting by hand until tight. Level the bed out and lower it until the feet touch the floor and it is good to go.

Yes, you can! We offer personalization through laser engraving, which allows you to print your dog's name (or a short phrase) on the frame of the bed. Personalization can be done on either the long side or short side of the bed.

To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the font and location, and make sure to type in what you want to have personalized. Personalization will appear in all caps.

For best results, check out our size guide. This bed is designed to fit standard wire crates but crate dimensions can vary slightly by manufacturer, so make sure to compare the actual dimensions of your crate against those for the bed size you’re interested in. The dimensions shown for our beds are exact, and due to their rigid frames these beds will not fit in spaces smaller than their size.

For use outside a crate, measure your dog from the tip of the nose to the base of the tail and use that as the minimum length the bed needs to be for your dog to lie on it comfortably. Remember that the frame takes up an inch of space from each side, so the sleeping area is 2" smaller in each dimension from the total bed size.

Unfortunately, Impact does not list the internal dimensions for their crates online, nor do they have the dimensions for the crate doors. Since we do not have any Impact crates on hand to test out, you will need to measure the internal dimensions of your crate as well as the diagonal length of the door opening and compare them to the dimensions listed for our beds to see if any will work for you.

The diagonal length of the door should be at least an inch bigger than the width of the bed frame and you should have at minimum a quarter inch of clearance between the crate bed frame and the crate wall for optimal fit. Based off the external dimensions Impact has listed, you will most likely need to go down a size for the bed in order for it to fit most of their crates.

Full disclosure, we have not physically tried to put a Chew Proof Armored Padded Dog Crate Pad inside a Rock Creek crate. However, based off the measurements they provide online for their crate and crate door sizes, we suspect that their octagonal-shaped doors are too small for you to be able to slide an assembled armored bed through. Since the armored beds cannot be assembled from inside a crate, we do not believe our armored beds are compatible with this brand of crate.
