The Good:
Well made & durable materials w/attention to details. Quality stitching, perfect length, responsive stretch (not too boingy) & nice colors.
Bungee elastic doesn’t wear out like most extensions I’ve used where a few weeks of hard pulling sees the elastic permanently stretched out to point of being useless.
I have 2 dogs attached to 1 main leash via 2 K9B extensions. The 35lb dog who doesn’t pull (blue extension) & the 50lb dog who pulls a lot (green extension).
Other non-K9B extensions consistently show failure on the 50lb dog extension. But 40+ hours of walking using K9B’s extension and the elastic is almost identical to original as shown in side-by-side pic (some stretch is unavoidable).
The Less Good:
My biggest issue with almost all dog leashes is their potential points of failure (coming unhooked & cheap hardware). Standard spring loaded clips, snaps, hooks, clasps etc can come undone surprisingly easy & have done exactly this to me.
Carabiners without locking mechanisms are one of the easiest to come accidentally unhooked even under casual walking. So I was excited to see this K9B version having a locking mechanism but ultimately was not convinced this resolved the issue. Here’s why:
In use the K9B locking mechanism slides off way too easy for my comfort, even with normal walking let alone leash zoomies. Even with my workarounds, I find the carabiner is frequently in the unlocked position despite locking it.
So for me, the locking carabiner is not…
