Frequently Asked Questions

This is not a chew proof item. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging and scratching, but the flexible and relatively thin design makes it easy for a chewer to get it between their jaws and work at it until they do damage. Do not leave destructive chewers unsupervised with this tarp.

This tarp is a single unit, and will arrive folded up in a small box or shipping bag. No assembly is required upon arrival; just unfold and it is good to go.

Both sides of the tarp are made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric. The top of the tarp has a DWR treatment to protect it from water, and the underside has a rubber non-skid coating to keep it from sliding on slick flooring.

This tarp is covered under our 30 Day Manufacturer's Warranty, which applies to manufacturing defects only. This is not meant to be a chew-resistant item and is not covered by the 120 Day Warranty.

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on its surface, which will help keep water from soaking through the tarp. Seams can still be a point of entry for fluid, though, so the tarp is considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. The DWR can also wear off with time and use, but can be restored using a water-repellent restorer.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage the protective treatment, making the tarp more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

Simply pick the tarp up and shake it off outside to dislodge fur and dirt. You can wipe the tarp down with a damp cloth and scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water; hosing it down will also remove most messes. For a more thorough cleaning, machine wash the tarp in cold water on a delicate cycle. Air dry if possible, or tumble dry on low heat.

This is a heavy-duty tarp rather than a cuddly blanket, so while you can lay the tarp over your dog's bed or place it at the bottom of the crate to collect any spills or messes, it won't add to their comfort. For a cozier accessory, check out our Tough Ripstop™ Dog Blanket instead.
