Densely-woven (1200D) heavy duty ballistic fabric withstands punctures and tears from digging and scratching. Odor-resistant, stain-resistant, and machine-washable, this material will outlast whatever your dog throws at it. It comes in three style options:

  • Original - Ballistic fabric with a smooth, slick finish that fur and dirt won't stick to. Features a DWR coating and a waterproof backing to protect the bed from moisture. Works well both indoors and outside. Available in Obsidian Black, Blue Quartz, and Sandstone.
  • Premium Finish - Ballistic fabric with a coating that gives the material a woven-looking texture. It's softer to the touch, but fur might stick more easily. Works best with indoor-only beds. Available in Titanium and Taupe.
  • Velvet - Ballistic fabric with a fuzzy coating that makes it soft to the touch, but fur might stick more easily. Works best with indoor-only beds. This color has been discontinued and will not be restocking. Available in Two-tone Gray Velvet.

This listing is for the exterior cover only and does not include the inner mattress fill or bolster pillow. It is meant to replace the cover on an existing bolster bed, or it can be used to convert a Tough Ripstop™ Rectangle Orthopedic Dog Bed or Tough Ripstop™ Rectangle Pillow Dog Bed to the bolster style if you also purchase a bolster pillow fill.

Our ballistic material is engineered to last longer than traditional fabrics. That means having to purchase fewer beds over the lifetime of your pets, which in turn contributes to a smaller carbon footprint by reducing energy and fuel usage for manufacturing and shipping.

The material is also easy to spot clean and can go longer between machine washings, saving you water, detergent, and electricity.

Frequently Asked Questions

This is not a chew proof item. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging, scratching, and light chewing, but it can be damaged by aggressive or persistent chewing habits.

This listing is for a cover only, and will arrive as a single item. The cover is folded and packed in a plastic bag to protect it during transit.

The cover is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the black bottom. There is a textured rubber coating on the bottom of the bed cover to prevent it from sliding.

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; velvet and premium finish ripstop do not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our covers are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed, and avoid submerging the bed or allowing it to sit in puddled water.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the cover more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

Simply wipe the cover down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. For a more thorough cleaning, remove it from the mattress and machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Make sure to zip up the cover and keep it right side out before adding it to the machine. Air dry if possible, or machine dry on low heat.

Yes, this cover can be used with the mattress from either a Tough Ripstop™ Rectangle Pillow Dog Bed or the mattress from a Tough Ripstop™ Rectangle Orthopedic Dog Bed to convert it from a rectangle bed into the bolster style. You will need to purchase a matching bolster pillow to complete the set, as this cover does not include one.

Yes, you can! This cover can be personalized with embroidery as long as you choose obsidian black, blue quartz, sandstone, taupe premium finish, or titanium premium finish as the bed color. Velvet color options cannot be personalized due to the velvet coating.

To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the thread color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have embroidered. Embroidery is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

For best results, measure the footprint dimensions (not sleeping area) of your current bolster bed and select the cover size option that matches. You can also check the care tag on the mattress, which should state the size for you, or you can review your order history by accessing your account on our site.
