This is not a chew proof bed. The ripstop ballistic fabric is durable and will hold up to wear and tear as well as digging, scratching, and light chewing, but it can be damaged by aggressive or persistent chewing habits. The bolstered edge also offers extra seams and corners for a chewer to target. If you have a dog that routinely tears up their bedding, please consider one of our Chew Proof Armored™ beds instead.

This bed arrives in three parts:

• Gray and yellow rectangle orthopedic mattress, rolled.
• Gray and yellow bolster pillow, rolled.
• Tough Ripstop™ ballistic bolster bed cover, folded. Typically found at the bottom of the box.

Larger bed sizes (XL and XXL) may arrive with components split between two boxes. To assemble, unzip the cover and locate the zipper for the interior bolster compartment. Unzip the compartment and insert the bolster pillow. Re-zip the compartment and lay the rectangle mattress down on top of it inside the main compartment, with the yellow side facing towards you. Zip up the outer cover and flip the bed over for use.

The bed cover is made from 1200D ripstop ballistic polyester fabric, including the black bottom. The inner mattress and bolster pillow both have a 600D ripstop ballistic liner made from polyester. The rectangle orthopedic mattress is made from a solid sheet of CertiPUR-US polyurethane foam, while the bolster pillow is filled with shredded CertiPUR-US polyurethane foam. The foam contains no glue or adhesives.

This bed actually comes with two separate warranties:

1. 120 Day Chew Proof Warranty

• Applies to the outer cover only
• If your dog damages the bed in any way within the first 120 days of receipt, we will replace the cover once free of charge. Store credit for the value of the cover will be provided instead if a replacement cover is not desired.

2. 10 Year Won't Flatten Warranty

• Applies to the solid-foam mattress only
• If the orthopedic mattress loses support or flattens within 10 years of the original order date, we will replace the mattress once free of charge.
• Does not apply to dog-related damage or damage from misuse

Our ballistic material has a DWR treatment on top and a waterproof PU backing applied to the inner surface (original ripstop material only; velvet ripstop does not have these features). These additions will help keep water from soaking into the bed, but seams can be a point of entry for fluid. For that reason, our pads and beds are considered water-resistant, not 100% waterproof. Clean up spills as quickly as possible to reduce the chance of leakage into the bed, and avoid submerging the bed or allowing it to sit in puddled water.

Please note that water-resistance refers to regular water, as in moisture from weather, sprinklers, or water bowl spills. Bodily fluids like urine and vomit are more caustic and can seep past the DWR treatment and PU backing if not wiped up quickly. Frequent exposure to urine or vomit can damage these protective coatings, making the bed more vulnerable to fluids in the future.

Simply wipe the bed down with a damp cloth or scrub away any stubborn spots with soap and warm water. For a more thorough cleaning, remove the outer cover and machine wash in cold water on a delicate cycle. Make sure to zip up the cover and keep it right side out before adding it to the machine. Air dry if possible, or machine dry on low heat.

Do not wash solid foam mattress. Shredded foam bolster pillow can be machine washed in cold water on delicate and machine dried with low heat, but must be fully dried out before replacing in cover.

Our rectangle beds are not sized to fit crates and are not intended for crate use, and the orthopedic mattress is too firm to easily fit into smaller spaces. If this bed is forced through a crate door, it will most likely take up most of the space inside the crate and be very hard to remove later. Yes, you can! This bed can be personalized with embroidery.

To add it, just select the option to add personalization, select the thread color and font, and make sure to type in what you want to have embroidered. Embroidery is case-sensitive and will appear exactly as typed.

For best results, check out our size guide. Bolster beds are sized just like our regular rectangle beds, but the addition of the bolster pillow takes up some of the available sleeping area of the bed. Make sure to compare your dog's length to the bed's sleeping dimensions to ensure your pup will have enough room. When in doubt, it's safer to go up a size.
